Title: Southern Virginia looks to Division III
Post by: Pat Coleman on April 14, 2011, 01:07:53 AM
Now, I might not have a link to my own site that just links out to a newspaper report, but it still is interesting. Instead, as a public service, I'll just link you straight out to the newspaper story rather than sending you through another site first.

Interesting, too, that the CAC formally spoke about adding football. I don't think they were willing to go on the record to that a year ago.

...which makes the migration of CNU to the CAC a stronger possibility.

(I hope that it preserves Huntingdon's chances to move with the GSAC men.)

I defer to Pat Coleman due to his understanding of that part of the country.

It probably does. Gets them closer to a football critical mass. But I have heard people be less than thrilled with the thought of York- or Frostburg-to-CNU travel, considering both distances and highway congestion. The conference could be big enough to split into divisions for non-football sports, however, limiting those trips to one team traveling every other year.

Isn't Frostburg along the DelMarVa peninsula?

Frostburg is on the opposite side of the state from the Delmarva Peninsula - nearer to Morgantown, WV.
It's about 3.5 hours from Newport News (having made that trek a few times)

Salisbury is the one you're thinking of, I suspect.

Frostburg is on the Western Maryland Panhandle, wedged in between Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
