Post by: radiodavel on June 30, 2011, 09:31:59 PM

The D3 committee also approved the following seven schools to conduct an exploratory year in 2011-12 before possibly seeking provisional/reclassifying membership the following year:

Georgetown College (Georgetown, Ky.)
State University of New York at Canton (Canton, N.Y.)
Houghton College (Houghton, N.Y.)
Kentucky Wesleyan College (Owensboro, Ky.)
Sarah Lawrence College (Bronxville, N.Y.)
Southern Virginia University (Buena Vista, Va.)
Valley Forge Christian College (Phoenixville, Pa.)

The only one I didn't know about was SUNY-Canton. It makes sense that that school would explore D3, given the fact that almost all of the SUNY branch campuses are D3, and most of SUNY-Canton's close neighbors up there in the North Country are D3 schools as well.

SUNY-Canton fits nicely into the NEAC.

Almost everyone would be a good fit, and would likely find a home in a conference.
