When does DIII Women's Basketball Rankings usually come out? Who does the ranking?
The NCAA's regional ranking usually debuts near the end of January.
What about pre-season Rankings for the coming season? Does anybody besides the conferences themselves based on returning players, coaches, and past success Rank DIII Women's Basketball Prior to Conference Play? If not this seems like a great niche for a Sports Internet Paper or Blog.
We do a preseason national Top 25, and a weekly one.
Excellent
Thanks
DIII Dad.
DIII News, ESPN/USA Today, and Massey Ratings all rank D3 women's basketball.
Thanks Sumfun.....Massey Rankings are great!
Sumfun....or anybody that knows......Does the ESPN/USA Today have DIII Women's Basketball Rankings....or just DI?
Sumfun....I did subscribe to DIII News Women's Basketball for 39.95 and this year you get 13 email reviews and 1 slow mail reviews from the Post Office.....Has any out there subscribed in the past and can tell me how good or bad this is??? I guess I already ordered it so I will find out.

ESPN/USA Today is ranked by a committee of the WBCA
Wydown Blvd....do they rank DIII Women's Basketball....if so where is the link Please?
Why are you acting like we didn't answer the question? Yes they rank d3 women.
To answer your second question (although obviously you could have googled it yourself, like I have to as well).

That's too bad -- you should have given us $39.95 to support the site. :) But seriously, I don't know anyone other than coaches who subscribe to DIII News. It is definitely more tailored to coaches, with stories on coaching milestones and such. But why buy a newsletter when there's a far more in-depth website?
thanks Wydown Blvd
Pat Coleman....what is the far more indepth website. Sorry I'm just an empty nester single dad that had my baby girl just move out to play ball at DIII level and I have coached bb and now retired. Want to compare stats and scout with stats as this interests me and gives me something to do in my alone evening time. Didn't mean to put anybody out.
D3hoops.com -- have you found the message board but not the rest of the sites?
:oThanks Pat! and Yes.....Like it.....not alot of indepth stats tho.

I'm toying with doing Women's regional rankings / tournament projections this year in addition to the men's. We'll see. Wouldn't be too much spreadsheet work with the way the new site is layed out.
Would help if someone could simply list the schools that play only on the women's side for me.
got it Pat. and KnightSlappy that sounds super.....I believe that Women's Basketball is getting more and more popular as more girls play and more parents watch.......Also the group that used to play Women's Basketball is getting bigger and bigger......so more interest is out there.
Thanks David.
Women's basketball has accounted for about one-third of our traffic in recent years, but we always give it more than one-third of our coverage.

Hope Dmac sees that for his broadcast show; I'd estimate < 20% for his show.
That's true -- but on Hoopsville the traffic skews even more toward men's basketball.
Hoopsville traffic more mirrors the message board traffic than D3hoops.com's traffic. We'll continue to provide women's coverage on Hoopsville but if there were more support from women's basketball fans that would make a difference. Also, the show is sponsored by one of the coaches' associations only -- the NABC has really embraced Hoopsville.

What if anything has been the WBCA's response to also supporting Hoopsville?
I think this is better responded to privately. I sent you a message.

Ok, thanks for the additional factors in coverage considerations; I was "ivory tower" ing the situation.

A PM would be awesome. If the information is confidential, I understand as well. Thanks.
What is all this confidential crap about.....all the insider news eventually comes out anyhow.....Look at the Texas A&M SEC realighnment......Just put it out there for the real fans to decide as thats what will happen eventually anyhow.

Regional rankings come out the 3rd or 4th Tuesday of January from what I remember last year.
I know Pat Coleman sent out the ballot to the coaches in the men's poll sometime last week, so the men's poll should be availible sometime this week if it's not already. Not sure if he sent out the ballot for the women;s poll yet.
D3Hoops Men's 25 came out today, wondering how long it will be until the Women's 25 is also out. Pre-Season Teams for both sexes have already been published.
Yesterday was the deadline for the schools to submit info. I followed up with those who missed the deadline today and will send the info packet to our voters tonight. If they vote on time (and this did not happen in the men's poll) then we can release on Friday. Otherwise it will be Monday.

May you put the info packet online for interested non-voters to view?
8-) Cool idea Ronk.... That is a great idea.

Maybe you could dress it up in your spare time between October 15th and November 15th and sell it as a premium product.
:) ;)

Well, no, but Gordon Mann and I will be writing an Inside the Top 25 for women's basketball as I did for men's this week when the poll comes out, and it draws from that packet.
Thanks, I read your men's writeup after I posed the question and I figured that a similar writeup on the women's side would satisfy my request.
I'm trying my hand at Women's Regional Ranking projections this year on my blog. Here's the first update:
http://tomaroonandgold.blogspot.com/2011/12/womens-regional-rankings-1262011.html
I've done this for a couple of years for the men. It's still very early on, so take the rankings with several grains of salt.
Better late than never: my RPI-ish 'regional rankings' thru last Sunday's games.
http://tomaroonandgold.blogspot.com/2011/12/womens-regional-rankings-12152011.html
I like Western @ #11, but no way were staying that high. With not many games the next couple weeks, do you still plan to update this weekly, or is your next update not going to be until after conference play resumes around D-3 (January 7). Western only plays 3 games between now and January 7, and all of them are after New Year's.
I intend to do it every week from here on out.
I have the latest rankings up:

FYI - Tuesday, January 3 will be a big game in the West region and Northwest Conference when Lewis and Clark hosts George Fox. They are currently ranked 1 and 2 in the West using the calculations done by KnightSlappy.
These teams shared the NWC championship last year.

As usual, great work by you! Western plays Skidmore on Sunday, and than Keene state on the 10th so a chance to (hopefully) begin their steady climb up the Northeast rankings (though I do think we have to win the LEC tournament to get into NCAA tournament).
An update thru 1/2/2012:
