Title: Empire 8
Post by: AUPepBand on October 06, 2015, 06:06:52 AM
No thread for the Empire 8? No fans from Stevens, Houghton, St. John Fisher, Nazareth, Ithaca, Utica, Elmira or Alfred on here?
Time to get something started.

Got some important conference games Saturday, Oct. 10 with:
Elmira (4-4-2, 1-0-2) at Nazareth (0-11, 0-3)
Utica (4-7, 1-2) at St. John Fisher (0-10, 0-3)
Houghton (5-3-2, 2-0-1) at Ithaca (2-6-1, 2-1)
Stevens (7-1-2, 1-0-2) at Alfred (7-1-2, 2-0-1)

God that Nazareth program has taken a monster TUMBLE.

Stevens at Alfred has to be GOW. Can Alfred prove they are for real and can Stevens re-establish its conference dominance

It's Pep's understanding that the facilities at Naz are amazing, although Pep hasn't been there. Should be a soccer hot spot without football competing for funding and attention.

Pep marked the Stevens game on his calendar before the season began. Only problem is that it's Mid-Semester Break so our student support will be lessened significantly.

Saxons may have been looking ahead to Saturday's clash with Stevens at Yunevich Stadium...nevertheless held on for a 1-0 win at Fredonia State. Saxon sophomore goalkeeper Christopher Gutierrez turned back a penalty kick late in the second half to preserve the win and shutout.

Gutierrez was named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week for his play against Nazareth....but reiterated the honor tonight!

Fisher finally gets their first win of the season. When does Nazareth get theirs? A better question is, do they? 0-16? Top to bottom, the Empire 8 is certainly not what it used to be; even Stevens has dropped off significantly over the years.

Alfred drops a tough 2-1 game to Stevens Saturday, the Saxons' first loss since their season opener against Geneva. AU now 2-1-1, same as Houghton, which lost 2-0 to Ithaca. Bombers 3-1-0 in the Empire 8, 0-6-1 in non-conference play.
Nazareth earns a tie with Elmira, 2-2. Soaring Eagles now 1-0-3 in E8 play.
Fisher moves to 1-3 with 3-0 win over Utica, also now 1-3 in conference play.

In conference points, Ithaca oddly leads the pack with 9, Stevens 8, AU and Houghton 7, Elmira 6, Fisher and Utica 3 and Naz 1.

Conference play continues Saturday, Oct. 17 with:
Fisher (1-3-0) at Stevens (2-0-2)
Ithaca (3-1-0) at Naz (0-3-1)
Houghton (2-1-1) at Elmira (1-0-3)
Utica (1-3-0) at Alfred (2-1-1)
