Just to get this started....
1) Thomas More has played three different teams from the Chicago metropolitan area in the first round of the last three NCAA tournaments....Wheaton (Ill) in 2013, North Park in 2014, and now Univ of Chicago.
2) MSOE coach Jimmy Banks, now in his 15th season at MSOE, started two games for the USMNT as a defender in the 1990 World Cup.
A shame no one is adding to this thread. It would make for a great column on D3soccer.com if enough different tid-bits could be compiled.
In a slightly different vein, but hopefully not too out of place, here is this year's Tournament Field Factoids (http://www.d3soccer.com/ncaatournament/2015/2015-tournament-field-factoids) on D3soccer.com. Not sure why I didn't do one last year after doing it in 2013.
Someone would have to research this, but...
How many coaches at their school 5 or more years, 10, 15, 20+....
I was thinking about how long some of these very well known coaches stay in these D3 jobs, knowing that at least some portion have probably had offers for "better" jobs over the years, and how many of these jobs actually support the coaches and their families and how many have to augment their salaries with other employment.

Mike Coven from Brandeis is in his 43rd year I believe. He is also a teacher at the university (some type of gym class, I forget the actual name, for non-athletes fulfilling their athletic requirement to graduate). I know that he also coaches club soccer in the off-season and summer, as I imagine most D3 coaches do.
This is Paul McGinlay's 25th year at Trinity (TX), during which time he is 434-71-29.
Skip Roderick at Etown---33rd season as head coach and collected his 500th win this year.
*Should be in the tourney so that's why I included him* ;D
Serpone is in his 9th season at the helm of Amherst with a 134-15-23 record. Impressive to say the least except he's missing that all important national championship. Heck they need to make the final first though. 8 straight NCAA tournament appearances including 7 Sweet 16's, 3 Elite 8's and 1 Final 4. Is this the year he gets over the hump?
UW-Whitewater Assistant Coach Jamie Lieberman (an alumni of UW-Parkside like MSOE coach Jimmy Banks) was selected as a GK for the United States National Futsal Team in 2011.

Tufts is the only team in the 61 team field in the national tournament with only 9 wins on the season (all other teams have at least 10, or in most cases, more wins). Perhaps a bit of a tip of the hat by the committee to the defending national champion. Either way, I think the previous last year's champ should be given every chance to return to defend their title.

Plus the fact that they play less games than most schools, like the rest of the NESCAC
Rochester was 9-5-3 last year and made the tournament...
2 NCAA rematches:
2009 Bowdoin lost to Plattsburgh in an NCAA play-in game in PK's up at Plattsburgh.
2008 RPI lost to Stevens 1-0 in the final minute. That was a very well played game with both teams having chance after chance. That was a legit Stevens side that made it all the way to the NCAA Final that year I believe. That RPI squad in 2008 might have been Clinton's best that I have seen. They were very good and had numerous chances to beat Stevens that day. To put it in perspective that RPI side might beat this years version 3-0. That being said that Stevens side might beat this years version 3-0.
2011 Elite 8: Oneonta St vs Rutgers-Camden at SLU. 2-1 (2ot); Oneonta St. equalized in the 77th min and scored the winner in the 107th.
SUNY-Oneonta junior forward Alex Shkreli (Bedford, NY/Fox Lane) scored off the rebound of a header off the post with 3:19 remaining in the second overtime to lift the 21st-ranked Red Dragons over the ninth-ranked Scarlet Raptors, 2-1, in the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship Elite Eight contest.
Rutgers-Camden, which was ranked ninth in the final regular-season NSCAA Top 25 poll and No. 11 in the d3soccer.com poll, finished its season with a spectacular 11-2 record against teams either ranked, or receiving votes, toward those national polls.

MR, having watched both the 2008 and 2009 RPI teams, I think the 2009 squad was better. 14-2-2 going into the NCAAs, with both losses coming by a goal to Union (on which my son played). At one point, they were 8-0-1 and perhaps #1 in the polls. They hosted the first weekend of the NCAAs, won their first game against ECSU, and then lost 1-0 to your Ephs.
We agree to disagree.
