Both teams loading up on some cupcakes early on. Will Geneseo bounce back from a horrific season last year?
-New Paltz

Brockport's out of conference schedule is looking pretty weak. Looks to be another rebuilding year

- Plattsburgh
http://gocardinalsports.com/schedule.aspx?path=msoc (http://gocardinalsports.com/schedule.aspx?path=msoc)
Mt.St.Vincent appears again at the SUNY Potsdam tournament playing a really improved Potsdam side and Plattsburgh.
Plattsburgh has an improved schedule for them playing SLU and Clarkson plus Skidmore and possibly Johns Hopkins
Cortland has a decent schedule with Brandeis, ECONN, Hobart, SLU and a revamped Ithaca squad. Not bad
Oneonta's schedule is out
http://www.oneontaathletics.com/schedule.aspx?path=msoc (http://www.oneontaathletics.com/schedule.aspx?path=msoc)
So is Oswego's
http://oswegolakers.com/schedule.aspx?path=msoc (http://oswegolakers.com/schedule.aspx?path=msoc)
Oswego's schedule is weak sauce....There are some serious cupcakes on that schedule...Oneonta's schedule is not as challenging as years past but still very decent with half the Liberty League(nice addition of SLU) and a Nescac in Hamilton. Also, a game with Stevens but usually they have a very challenging opening weekend tournament or a couple out of region games that are challenging(like a Lycoming) which I do not see this year but still a ballpark of .590 SOS
Coaches Preseason Poll for the SUNYAC. I think it's pretty fair. For me it's a toss up between Oneonta and Cortland for the 1 and 2

Agreed.
Oswego has new coach and some new talent, which may also shake up the lower half of the league table.
Count me in on the Bengals finishing on top at end of the season!

They have really stepped up their game in the past 5 years. Now that UB no longer has men's soccer I'm interested in seeing if they were able to pick up any of their players.

Yes they have....and me too!! Gonna watch them tomorrow vs crosstown rival D'Youville!

I think they might want a re-vote. Just watched Oswego 5-0 in opener. New coach, new style, speed/pressure- ball on the ground. I could have been watching SLU. I know it's one game but this was not bad bounces or give away's. They worked for 4 of those goals. Very impressed.

I'll have to try to check out some of their game on Sunday. Brockport starts off the season by beating RIT 2-1. They seem to be better than last year but look like they need to play a few more games to get everything sorted out and to convince me that they took a step forward.
I cannot get this Oswego stream to work
I feel like the Oswego fan club, I'm not. 6-1 with 25 to go they have emptied the bench. Interesting early season story. Curious to see what happens when the water gets deeper, but they look good.

I wish their stream would have worked for me today. I wouldn't read much into this game as they only won one game last year...
My BENGALS get off to a good start with a 3-0 win over Dyouville followed by a 1-0 shut out vs Keuka! Tougher competition lies ahead tomorrow vs Houghton college at Fredonia
Go BENGALS!
Make my BENGALS 5-1 after an impressive 1-0 victory over U of Rochester!

Congrats to Buff State as that is a very solid W....Can they hang with Cortland and Oneonta this year in the SUNYAC..That is the question
A very good win for them! From the box score it looks like UR controlled a majority of the play but a win is a win. Was anyone able to watch?
Some other notable games from yesterday:
Fredonia lost their first game of the season 2-0 to Naz.
Plattsburgh drop to 3-2 with a 2-0 loss to Johns Hopkins
Cortland bounces back with a 3-0 win vs Elmira
Oswego rolls another meh team 7-1.
Perhaps the biggest game of the SUNYAC regular season take place on Friday. Oneonta travels to Cortland with the winner possibly claiming the top seed in the tournament if they both win the rest of their games
With Cortland St and Oneonta getting all the pub and deservedly so, Buffalo State is really flying under the radar...With wins over Rochester and Cortland you can bet they will be regionally ranked next week...They might not have the strongest SOS but RvR right now is 2-0-0 with a huge game still v Oneonta next week. A win or draw there and keep beating the weaker teams left on their schedule they could be on the right side of the bubble. Actually, I will be interested to see the East's Regional Rankings. You have Hobart at 5-2-4 and have not lost since the 1st weekend of the year and they play Cortland on Tuesday which will be a bug game.
I'm looking towards Oneonta, Cortland, and Buff State to take the top 3 spots in the rankings tomorrow.
Not sure about that but I suppose who else would get #3 in the region instead of Buff State? Was kind of surprised that Buff State was not in the D3 Top 25 after a nice week.
SUNYAC cleans up the East with the Top 3 spots all claimed..They will have two Pool C's easily..That Buff State win over Cortland was huge..Congrats to the SUNYAC..
I'm hoping Brockport can take Plattsburgh's place if they pick up two wins this weekend
Half time in the sunyac.
Brockport is up 2-0 on plattsburgh
potsdamn and Geneseo are tied at 0
same with buff state and oneonta
New paltz is up on fredonia 1-0
Full time brockport takes it 2-0 over Plattsburgh and clinches a spot in the playoffs
Buff state and Oneonta headed into OT
Potsdamn beats Geneseo 1-0
New Plats beats Fredonia 2-1
Buff State another solid result with a draw v Oneonta. SUNYAC will get 3 teams into the dance and a lock to get 3 Pool C's no matter what happens in the SUNYAC tournament IMO so if another team besides Cortland, Oneonta or Buff State wins the SUNYAC they will get 3 Pool C's and 4 teams into the dance.
Interesting that the SUNYAC regular season ends tomorrow with the #3 v #6 and #4 v #5 games are played next weekend. That means that Cortland State,Oneonta State or Buffalo State will have a week and a half off before they play their Semi-Final games. Now Buff State and Oneonta State will play mid-week games next week out of conference but Cortland State does not. A week and a half off at this time of the year is a LONG layoff. Whoever face Cortland State November 1st in the Semi-Final might have a slight advantage as they could catch them a bit rusty.

After taking a look at the East's Data Sheet I did notice that Buff State Non-Conference SOS is a paltry .495 which stands out to me but a .560 Overall SOS is respectable which stands out to the committee. i will say Buff State better hope Plattsburgh stays regionally Ranked as they beat them earlier in the year. Plattsburgh did lose today to go to 9-6-1 and it is possible Buff State draws them in the 1st Round and if they were to beat them then Plattsburgh would definitely drop out. That 1-0 win over Rochester earlier in the year looks to be their key as that win might be their only ranked win. The draws against Oneonta and Cortland obviously are big as well but without the Rochester win Buff State would be a team with 0 ranked wins which would and should be in trouble even with the 2 draws.
Brockport currently dismantling Postdamn 6-1 with 20 minutes left.
Buff State up in New Paltz 1-0
Oneonta down 1-0 against Fredonia 20 min left in the first half. Not sure why they got started late
If Brockport can get a win vs UR tonight I can see them possibly sneaking into the regional rankings this week. Its a tough ask though as it will be their third game in 4 days

You are correct on both fronts...They will be regionally ranked but with a 3rd game in 4 days and UR not having played in over a week Brockport is going to have to dig deep. A win here and they might jump a couple teams in the East as teams #4-#8 have all lost games. Still they would need the AQ I think unless they beat UR, Plattsburgh and get to the SUNYAC Championship game..Not sure the SUNYAC would get 3 Pool C's but you never know

Agreed. Very unlikely they get a pool C bid unless they win the tournament. Right now I can see Oneonta, Cortland, or Buff State winning it all and the other two getting Pool C bids.
UR gets our of Brockport with a 2-0 win. First goal was a scrum in the box and the second Brockport got caught on the counter pushing up the last 3 minutes of the game. It really looked like brockport had tired legs as they were misplacing passes all over the place
Cortland, Oneonta, and Buff State hold on to the top 3 spots. Brockport takes over for Plattsburgh at #7 with another match up between the two this weekend
Looks like it'll be Oneonta vs Plattsburgh for the final this weekend

Surprised SUNYAC got to host three first round sites! Good for them. Too bad, however Messiah has to play on such a lousy football turf surface that Buff State has. Needs to be REPLACED! Buff done a nice job this year, school needs to show some appreciation. Surface should have been changed years ago.

Sounds like an injury waiting to happen..Those old turf fields from 10+ years ago are like playing on cement
I'm very surprised Buff State is hosting. Last time I was there their turf was terrible and locker room/athletic training rooms were a mess. This was back in 2012 so I don't know if anything has changed but it looks like their turf definitely has not.

Obviously you haven't seen Coyer field lately. Turf was replaced during off season. Lights were added...new locker rooms too. heck my 96 olds doesnt run like my 2014 mitsubishi either!!! Thank GOD. Wow I never knew that so many folks were familiar with 1300 Elmwood and its assets! Hmm wondering if any other fields are bad and hosting too! I'm glad the NCAA felt the fields were good enough!

Any links to pics of the facilities..Im kinda lazy but I guess I will just check their website..Thanks for the update
Looks nice Bengal...Especially that press box with the weather in the 30's this weekend. Looking at the team their GK is 6'2 and their top goalscorer is a transfer from UMASS. Any other transfers? The good news they will have everyone back next year except #10. I am betting they play with an edge with all those upstate kids on the roster. Should be interesting against Hobart.
http://gocardinalsports.com/news/2017/11/8/longtime-plattsburgh-state-head-mens-soccer-coach-chris-waterbury-announces-retirement.aspx
Waterbury retires.
This man was real class all round!!
A big shame that Cardinals did not dance this year.
He built a great program over 33 years and is retiring just shy of 500 wins.
Don't make coaches like this anymore.
He was a credit to Plattsburgh, SUNYAC, D3 and College soccer overall.
This is very interesting news. For what he has to work with he has done an incredible job of building that program. 2005 was his most successful season after they defeated Williams in the Elite 8 1-0. Plattsburgh scored a nice goal to open the 2nd Half and then sat compact to fend off Williams. Disappointing game for Williams as if I remember correctly they had a goal called back on a very questionable call. It was the end of a fantastic career for Williams midfielder Josh Bolton. No sour grapes I promise. Anyway, I did not realize Waterbury was near retirement age. I knew he had been at Plattsburgh for a long time but I just figured he was in his early 60's and would go a little longer. To each his own. Congrats on a fine career.

Hoping that We can get a seat in that press box tomorrow night with freezing temps in the forecast! Something tells me that the Buff State President ( she has her own box) will have tons of new friends tomorrow! We hope not but with 3 visiting teams ( and thier administrators) the rest of us might be"out in the cold"! Great WARM view from fitness center too!
Give coach Howell credit. He's had his boys out in the cold and rain , at night, the past 3 days getting his BENGALS ready for a night time NCAA contest!
And yes , the future does look bright at 1300 Elmwood. Just hoping some of it rubs off on our Mens basketball team !

I too thought it a bit odd that the committee is making Messiah travel 5.5 hours each way to play on a turf football field. Glad the field is in good condition though.

In an effort to fully honest with you guys, coach just informed me that our turf could still use some improvements. "Plays fast"! However everything is is 1st class and less than 6 months old !
Being a SUNYAC fan, I am rooting for Buff St this weekend, but you're not being totally honest. "Plays fast' is putting it nicely. Every player I know who has played on the Buff St field says it's terrible. This may prove to be to Buff States advantage, especially against Hobart which plays a lot of games on slow grass fields.
Did they put new turf in or is it the same stuff I played on almost 10 years ago? Their updated facilities do look nice!
Oneonta (PKs), Cortland Advance. Go Bengals! With your new field!
Not looking good. Down 2-0. Hobarts 1st goal was a wicked corner kick. Something that I've only seen on tv. 2nd half is starting now !
Any one see the red card?
