In looking at the NJAC this year there are a couple of things to know as there has been a lot of changes since Montclair State won the conference championship last year. Some of the best players to ever play in the NJAC are gone. Colofranson from Stockton is gone and the trio of Terci, Olla and Damian graduate from Montclair. There has also been some movement inside the conference with Ramapo's first team all conference forward Ryan Campbell having transferred to Rowan along with another former Ramapo stand out Modou Sowe.
Top Returners
Rowan returns six all-conference players from its 2016 NCAA Tournament squad, including junior forward Shane Doherty, senior forward Travis Ward, senior midfielder Jake Conners, senior midfielder Tyler Logar, junior goalkeeper Kyle Dennis, and the 2016 NJAC Defensive Player of the Year in junior back Will Sjaastad. Also, first team all conference forward Ryan Campbell having transferred to Rowan along with another former Ramapo stand out Modou Sowe.
Rutgers-Newark returns six all-conference players from its 2016 NJAC regular season championship squad, including senior back Arek Szoldrowski, junior midfielder Breno Lustosa, sophomore goalkeeper Andres Medina, senior midfielder Carlos Castro, senior back Isaiah Kuris, and the 2016 NJAC Rookie of the Year in sophomore forward Fabio De Sousa.
The Red Hawks return a pair of all-conference players from their 2016 NJAC championship team in junior midfielder Rafael Terci and senior back Mike Taranto.
Rutgers-Camden returns four all-conference performers from its 2016 ECAC Tournament squad, including senior forward Aaron Muse, senior midfielder Brad Maine, senior midfielder Darnell Brown, and the 2016 NJAC Goalkeeper in the Year in junior net minder James Brett.
The College of New Jersey return one all-conference player from the 2016 season in junior goalkeeper Dan Walsh.
Kean returns one all-conference player from its 2016 NCAA Tournament squad in junior back Nicholas Sica.
Ramapo returns a pair of all-conference players from its 2016 ECAC Tournament squad in junior midfielder Trevor Albrecht and sophomore back Justin Charkowski.
WPU returns four all-conference performers from its 2016 ECAC Tournament squad, including sophomore forward Keysean Brant-Sharp, sophomore midfielder Darwin Cruz, senior midfielder JP Gonzales, and junior back Zach Perez.

TCNJ roster is up and it is a bit confusing. Not a lot of upperclassmen numbers. 5 SR, 7 JR and only 3 soph. That seems very light, what happened to the freshman class last year? Good year to be a freshman I would think.

Unless Kean picked up some serious talent, I would be extremely surprised if they finished in top 5. And Montclair always seems to reload their talent so I'd move them into the hunt for 1-3 finish. Did CNJ officially go back to Trenton State (lol)? And given what's returning for Camden, they should be able to finish higher than WPU and 'Po
In the last 9 years, Camden has made it to the NJAC final six times with four titles. Have only missed the playoffs in 2009 and 2010, both on tiebreakers.
I do not see them finishing any worse than 6 and for the most part, I agree with the Coaches Poll. Camden has owned Newark over the years and have not lost to them since 2012. I'll back consistency over hype.
1. Rowan (7) returning class and MSU at HOME.
2. Montclair State (1)
3. Rutgers-Camden (RUC has MSU and Rowan at home, should get a DRAW at RUN). Struggle at TCNJ on the road...
4. Rutgers-Newark (RUN has MSU and Rowan on the road)
5. The College of New Jersey (dark horse)
6. Stockton
7. Kean
8. WPU
9. Ramapo
10. New Jersey City
i do not see Rowan taking the NJAC this year without Doherty. there are still very good but beatable. it's going to be very interesting

Didn't Kean pick up a new coach this year? The adjustments might be difficult to adapt to this season.
We are only a few weeks into the season but lets take a look.

It looks like Newark and Rowan are both back and strong. Stockton tied Arcadia tonight and haven't beat anyone good yet. They are pretenders!
What jumps out the most here is Montclair sitting 3rd from the bottom. I watched some of their game against Messiah and they didn't look anything like the teams that won so many games over the last 3-4 years. Rutgers Camden is in real danger of missing out on postseason play.
Camden needs a win at newark to save their season...already
So Camden got run by Newark and now face Montclair to try and change the momentum of this season. The tide has turned in the NJAC with Rowan and Newark clearly taking over from Camden and Montclair. I'm curious about the academic standards at Newark. They seem to be able to get kids eligible that wouldn't be anywhere else.
Newark is loaded with kids from St. Benedict's, which has been the #1 or #2 HS team in the country for like the last 20 years. I'm not sure it's academics or they're simply getting quality in the door.
Also found these fun facts...

you forgot to add the one about Rutgers Camden having 6 NJAC Championships to Newarks 0.
Newark is also 2-10 in the last 12 games against Camden.
Could also argue Camden is a much safer campus
Looking forward to the most intriguing match of the year in the NJAC: Rutgers-Newark v Rowan. I think it will come down to this game to decide who wins the NJAC this year.
Rutgers-New Brunswick is struggling dearly in the Big Ten, maybe they could use some kids from the Rutgers-Newark team!
Rowan beat Stockton 3-0 tonight, probably could of been more. Rowan definitely had the better of the play, Stockton did have a break away early in the 2nd half that could of made it 2-1 but the shot was wide left. Who knows if that would of made it a different game. This was my first time seeing Rowan in person this year, I didn't realize how tall they are. Stockton has had a good start to the season, there schedule isn't the toughest, hopefully they can brush this one aside and keep going because they could still finish in the top 4 of the conference and see what happens in the NJAC tournament. Would be interested in seeing the Newark / Rowan game, they are both the top teams in the conference this year.

Thanks I try!!
Hey all, been a long time since I've posted so I'd like to begin by saying thank you to everyone who keeps the chain going while the rest of us watch from the sidelines. Even though I'm now a handful of years out of school I still find this board to be a fantastic extension of the on-the-field excitement.
That being said, I have chosen to break my silence for an absolutely heart-breaking reason. As some of you may or may not know, today's game between Amherst and Rutgers-Newark was packed with drama but marred by racism that has become all too prevalent in today's society. Before I attempt to recap the specific events, I want to mention that I wasn't there and I was unable to stream the game. What I have to say is based on what I've heard from those in attendance. Therefore I apologize if I describe anything incorrectly. I welcome anyone with more information to let their voice be heard because I think this topic goes far beyond sports rivalries.
Fikayo Ajayi, a great player and even better person, was called a ni**** by one of the RUN players in the first few minutes of OT. His response, and justifiably so in my opinion, was to confront the RUN player with pointed language of his own (F bombs, etc.), which led to a scuffle and a yellow card for Fikayo and the deplorable RUN player. The referee did not hear the original insult from the RUN player but had heard the response from Fikayo, which led the RUN coach to suggest that Fikayo was the only one deserving of a yellow card. After everyone had been calmed down the game was allowed to continue and moments later Fikayo received a second yellow and was sent off. I'm not sure what the second offense was for but I imagine emotions were still running extremely high. Thankfully karma prevailed and soon Amherst was able to net the game winner, sending RUN home with nothing but a huge loss.
Now... I HOPE we can all agree that what the RUN player did was terrible... that should be a given. However, what I want to address are two things that bubbled to the surface following the game.
1) is that the referee later claimed to the Amherst coaching staff that he believed Fikayo had made up the insult. That it had never occurred. To this I have to say ARE YOU F***ING KIDDING ME. Why would someone make that up? Short answer - they wouldn't. And even if the referee is ignorant enough to believe that the insult was fabricated, WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT TO HIS COACH!!!! If you didn't hear it then I can understand that you would be hesitant to dish out punishment purely based on the opposing players reaction, but for me a ref suggesting that the player made it up is NEVER appropriate.
2) The RUN coach not only complained about his player receiving a yellow, but he was bold enough to suggest that the player would not have said such a thing because he was hispanic and went to church on a weekly basis. THIS. IS. ABSURD. Suggesting someone can't be racist because they are also a minority? That they are immune to accusations of racism because they worship a higher power on a weekly basis? This is ignorance at its finest. I understand that a coach is inclined to protect and defend his players but for me racism is where respectable coach's need to draw the line. If you are a collegiate soccer coach then your job should revolve around two things: winning as many soccer games as possible and grooming your student athletes to become the best person they can be. If todays events was any indication I would say that RUN is failing miserably at the latter.
I don't post this to start a debate and I don't plan to reply to any thread that stems from this post. All I would like to do is make sure that things like this do not go unnoticed. Everyone should be held accountable for their actions and I hope that the Rutgers-Newark players and staff are held accountable for theirs.

After a rough start it looks like MSU has bounced back. Only lost 3-2 to Rowan and had been on a win streak. I wonder if some adjustments were made in formation, lineup, etc. They did not look good in 4-0 loss to Messiah early in the season but it definitely looks like something has changed to give Rowan a tight game and now have 9 wins. It was good to see RUN play Amherst..would like to see more NESCAC teams play NJAC teams in season.

Compared to the Pre-season coaches poll, I'd say the success that Willy P is having might be your story of the year.

Surprises this year have to be William Patterson on the positive and TCNJ on the negative. Stockton continue to freefall as I predicted.
Rowan and Newark are the class of the conference. Newark's hopes ride on one player. Where Rowan can get goals from multiple players. I think that balance will show up when they play. The game is at Rowan this year.
I see the conference getting 3 NCAA spots this year compared to 4 last year. And the 3 could become 2 if Montclair stumble down the stretch.
Clearly Rowan and RNewark are the leaders of the pack. Not sure why people thought TCNJ would be good this year, the roster just doesn't support it. They have midfielders that have no ball skills, very difficult to win that way. Stockton has been a strange team but as someone stated, they will win some and lose some.

Can't see the NJAC getting more than 2 this year. Lets say Montclair wins 4 of remaining 5 with the loss to RUN which will have them at 13-5-1 with 1 ranked win (maybe 2 if they are lucky) and a ranked tie if they are lucky and 3 guaranteed ranked losses. Say they get a 3-6 seed and get that extra game in playoffs AND make the final and lose, they are looking at 15-6-1 with only 2 or 3 ranked wins and 4 ranked losses and possibly a tie. I just don't think that will get it done with how competitive the South Atlantic is this year. I also don't think they win 4 of the last 5 which really puts the nail in the coffin for them. Amount of potentially ranked teams and SOS will help them but the record vs those ranked teams will hurt as well as overall blemishes. Can't see that resume being at-large bid worthy this season but a lot of games left to be played.
Agreed! The only way three get in is if someone other than RUN or Rowan win the AQ!
On the schedule tonight.
My prediction
Rowan at Rutgers Camden ( 3-0 )
William Patterson at Montclair. (2-3)
Tcnj at Stockton (0-2)
Ramapo at Rutgers Newark (0-2)
Crazy night in the NJAC!
Well this is the game that would most likely decide the regular season NJAC champ. Rutgers Newark traveled to Glassboro to take on Rowan. This game was back and forth early with both teams getting chances but Rowan had the better of play. In the second half Rowan took over but couldn't score. The game went to overtime where finally Rowan was able to get one past the little Rutgers Newark Keeper winning 1-0. This gives Rowan a clear path to home field advantage in the playoffs.

Rowan has now realer off 9 straight since dropping a game to messiah that they should have won. (PK missed In Overtime) The team will be making its third straight NCAA appearance and is poised to make a deep run this year.
TCNJ should be a much better, competitive team. This coach does very little to nothing in the terms of recruiting. It is a very good school, reasonably priced and in a soccer hotbed. No reason they shouldn't be very good every year.

Agree 100%.
I remember in 1995 when they lost to Williams in the Sweet 16 and then beat Williams in 1996 in the Elite 8. Interestingly both teams lost their home games in that series. I will say those 2 squads were LEGIT...They had some D1 players on that squad for sure especially in 1995.

Yikes...firstplacecloser it looks like Camden had a 1-0 lead with 35 seconds left an Stockton tied it up 1-1 and then won it in OT...I think Camden would have gotten 6th place had they won..Tough way to end your season
Looks like my predictions played out exactly as predicted! Off on a few scores but it is what it is. Camden is out at the hands of South Jersey rival Stockton. Not sure how Camden let that one slip! The are usually well coached enough to hold a lead with a minute left. Stockton slips in and now travels to Kean. I hope that Newark comes back to Glassboro to see a great NJAC final!

i was there and let's just say Stockton stoke one tonight. lazy defending led to a 40 yard run straight up the middle for the goal to win it. The refs were absolutely awful
To me it just further signifies the changing of the guard in the NJAC. The run that Camden had was nice, but it is clearly over. The loss to Stockton could be a dagger in recruiting as well.
I watched the Kean game where Camden had a goal called back. AR called it over goal line before the service.
I watched the video feed last night. Stockton had 4 shots before they started throwing the kitchen sink with ten to go. Did not look at box score, but maybe 8-10 total shots? Bizarre ending... There was no foul throw and no deliberate handling to warrant a PK. Honestly one of the most bizarre that I have witnessed in quite some time.
Under a minute remaining:
Camden player, at midfield launches a throw 40 yards... AR puts up flag for foul throw, prematurely. Stockton runs up to infraction of foul throw, puts in play, pings a ball in the box and CB attempts to clear the ball. Teammate is directly in front of him by less than a yard or two at the top of the box, back to ball and not looking and it hits his hand. PK
Harsh call in any circumstance, let alone with a playoff berth on the line. This is not a PK at any level.
Rowan and Newark are definitely on the up and up. Camden does not even have a full time staff, yet still competes. They looked like a solid young class, but inexperience cost them so many games this season. They will not lose recruits because of failing to make the playoffs.
Typically solid defensively, many mistakes in the final third... Evident by no shutout win this year and a 0-0 Haverford result.
I wouldn't sleep on Camden or Montclair...
Lastguy who was the ref?
Camden began to back slide when Rowan and Stockton started to get themselves back in the game. For years Camden had the run of South Jersey in recruiting. Those days are over, they will still get talented kids, but they will lose kids to Rowan and Stockton every year they didn't typically lose. Rowan seems to be getting the lions share of those kids.

Camden owned the NJAC from 2011-2016. and you're right the tides are changing back to how it was back in the day. i think camden has a solid foundation to build off of but once they lost Mike Ryan( who is arguably one of the best strikers to ever play D3) and i will challenge anyone to go against that. they seemed to lose a great deal of confidence after that and it had affected them ever since. it is GERY difficult to recruit in camden, only reason i went was i knew i had a chance at a ring. but that's now gone as well. Rowan should have absolutely no problem taking recruits from camden and stockton just bc of their facilities. if Gilmore wasn't there when i was searching i(and half of the 2013 cmd squad) 100% would've chosen Rowan. so they should have no problem in the coming years. but the change in the NJAC altogether is pretty cool to see. i hope RUN and Rowan each make a run in the NCAA

Lastguy who was the ref?
Box score has it. Some refs have their quirks with handling and are too quick to the whistle...
I was just about to say that MSU looks like a good side as they are a physical athletic bunch..WPU catches them pushing 3's frwd and gets them on the counter on a nice goal 1-0 WPU 1st Half...
2 minutes later exact same thing...2-0 WPU...MSU gets caught and WPU kid 1v1 with defender gets his shot off and a nice save by MSU GK but the defender was caught ball watching and the ball popped right back to WPU kid who finished it...
stockton just pulled the most Stockton move ever. Kean had the lead then Stockton came back late. Not sure they can keep this going against Rowan.
very random but how come none of the NJAC teams get articles like upstate update and nor'easter blog. clearly they either don't care or i am missing something

Well, the second possibility is the correct one: you are missing something. Throughout it's 10-year existence, D3soccer.com might best be described as a spare-time hobby of 2 or 3 people, with contributions from one to several others depending on the year. Maybe read the article
The 2017 season is here and, yes, we are back (http://www.d3soccer.com/notables/2017/we-are-back) that I posted at the start of the season for a little more insight. If you knew us and/or could see behind the scenes, you would quickly realize how far from the truth it is that we "don't care".
The regions/conferences covered by one of our weekly columns are being covered because someone with interest in and knowledge of those regions/conferences approached us and volunteered to write for us. We have no regional weekly column covering the NJAC because no one has ever approached us and volunteered to write one. And even if some one had volunteered to do so this year, it could only have become reality if we were able to find a new volunteer copy editor or one of this year's new volunteer copy editors could have taken on more work.
Believe me, we at D3soccer.com would love to be able to have a lot more weekly columns so that all regions/conferences/teams were covered by one of them. But we have never had nearly enough volunteer writers/columnists to do that, and even less so have we had enough volunteer copy editors and people behind the scenes to have been able to handle that much original content each week.

No disrespect/offense taken. It's perfectly natural to wonder about our uneven/spotty coverage. It was just a good opportunity for me to clarify the situation again, and to some degree remind people that the website could always use more volunteers to help it realize its potential.

Did not realize MSU came back to beat WP on Saturday as they were down 2-0 in the 65th minute..hmm they look much more physical than RUN
Was anyone at tonight's Rowan game? Online the announcers said "2 seconds left" as the ball got to Connors. Who took a touch and struck the ball. Then it traveled into the net before 2 seconds? If the announcer was correct I don't see how it could have possibly been a goal.
Crazy ending.
I was there, no way that ball made it into the net before the clock was at zero!

I agree, I thought Stockton rattled Rowan some which is surprising for a team that is talking national championship. Their lineup looked different than earlier in the year as well. Is Sjaastad hurt? I didn't see him on the field at all.
On another note, I thought Stockton put up a good fight, did they pack it in, yes but they still had some chances and seemed to frustrate Rowan. Stockton was also were much more physical than they were in the regular season match up against Rowan which was nice to see. I still don't know how Rowan gets away with some of the fouls they commit but don't get called.

i was told a few players got into some trouble...
Stockton registered 1 shot on goal! And 5 shots attempted in 110 minutes. Shots where 26 to 5 and 10-1 SOG. Stockton came in hoping for pk's And almost got there. But let's not act like they came to play. Funny how you say how physical Stockton was but then say Rowan gets away with fouls. It's always tough to beat conference opponents twice but more so when they sit in. The post and a few great saves by Stockton's GK almost where enough. Not sure what happened after the game but I hate to see kids lose their cool. Now RUN comes back to Glassboro looking for the AQ. If Rowan gets the AQ could it be only one team from the NJAC? I don't think so! I think the winner on Saturday will host the first round.
way stockton definitely came in with a tie on their mind. the fight broke out bc they lost their heads after having their season ended like that. Rowan should've never let it get that far.. they looked like they might be in trouble saturday. i'm calling a 3-2 RUN win.

There is a difference between physical play vs fouls I'll let you figure that out on your own. Yes Rowan was the better team tonight and this season. Stockton sat back and played for the tie and take a chance in penalties, not a doubt about that and it was clear to see that was their game plan. I also think Rowan didn't play as well tonight vs when they played Stockton earlier in the year and yes it is tough to beat a conference team twice in a season but we're talking about a national title contender vs a "pretender".
Saturday should be a good game and I think both teams will make the tournament regardless of the result but a win for RUN I think is more important. Will be interesting to see if Rowan has any issues adjusting to some players being out as they play a better team, I'm not sure what happened or how long some players are out if them getting in trouble is correct.

they are trying to "claim" that the clock wasn't the official clock ... every college game i ever played was kept by the score board clock.. BUT also what in the world was the goalie doing?!?!?!
Check out Rowan Men's Soccer instagram, they have two videos. The online video, but also a sideline version with the scoreboard and clock in the frame. The kid who scored the goal received the ball with 3 seconds left, took a touch and shot.
It's honestly too close to call and I've watched the video ten times. You could tell me it crossed the line or it didn't, and I would believe either version. I was convinced last night Stockton got robbed. Don't feel that way anymore.

In fairness, that kid is the only reason they were in the game. It's brutal, and he seemed to be out of position, but he was one of many Stockton players that seemed to let their guard down. Nobody even thought of closing down the shooter.

play great for 109:59 minutes and all it takes is 1 second
to ruin it.
Agree with firstplaceloser here, Stockton only have themselves to blame for not sealing the deal. To be fair, that Rowan bloke hit a nice ball, but you need to be mentally tough for 110 minutes, not 109 and change.
Bummer way to end your season but life goes on.

The youtube video (linked above) is the view from the stream last evening (correct?). I still think the goal was late--there's less than one second left when the shot is taken. But, it's so close that I could be mistaken.
Messiah recently got a GW with virtually no time left, but it wasn't a close call like this one. Rare to see it once, let alone twice, in the space of a couple of weeks, involving top teams. Probably never see it again.
When I loaded that video, the next one in line was this, called "Ring Chasing," apparently coming from the university: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATDI3l79P8M
There's been some talk here (not involving me) about Rowan promoting their chances to win it all this year. Someone asked for evidence of that. Well, here it is--but this is just 5 days old, after that conversation was over. I suppose this was done for recruiting purposes?
looking at the video provided, it does not seem possible for that goal to count, but it is clearly close.
looked at the Rowan mens instagram video, clock in the background. Looks like it DID in fact beat the clock.
The youtube video has a great angle form the stands and the ball appears to have cleared the line with .2 left on the clock.
Does anyone know the rule? Seems college is much more precise with the clock and time than pro or even high school where the ref keeps time in last 2 minutes..along with added time for stoppages. Is the rule in college soccer that the ball has to cross line before clock runs out or is it more like basketball where the shot has to leave the shooters hand before clock hits zero for it to count??
you have to watch the video on their instagram to see the actual game clock. the other video isn't correct. and i am a ref, the ball must cross the line before time expires. but i really don't know what i would have done there

Thanks for clarification on the ball crossing the line before time expires. I did not know that rule. Do you ref college and high school? In our state for HS games the clock does not even run for the last 2 minutes so players have no idea when the clock will expire. NCAA soccer (at least D3..I never noticed for D1/D2) does show the time and it counts down to 0 at which point play stops. I have seen a college game once where the ref allowed corner kick to be taken with time winding down..and the team scored off the corner but ref waved the goal off due to time expiring. The coach went crazy..but if the rule is the ball has to go over the line before the clock hits 0 then it was the correct call. I found it a strange call at the time. Tough call..without the benefit of instant replay it is hard to hold the Ref responsible for making a call that tight in the Rowan game. Stockton should have pressured that player and not given him the opportunity to get the shot off...can't blame the ref for that.

I am not saying the NJAC does not deserve more than 1 team and I have seen RUN play on the stream and they are an NCAA team BUT their RESUME is lacking...1 ranked win and a below .560 SOS is bubble material and the wrong side of it. Just look at other regions..The Mid-Atlantic has a Haverford team that just got bounced 5-0 in their tourney and are ranked #7 BUT have a 4-5-0 RvR. That is 9 games against ranked opponents and 4 wins and their SOS is very high..Personally, after seeing these things play out for years I would rather have Haverfords resume than RUN. To many of these bottom NJAC teams play extremely weak non-conferene schedules that drag the whole conference down. Also, I HAVE to think that if Emory defeats UR at Home this weekend which is very possible than they will jump RUN easily if RUN loses to Rowan. I would not be able to ignore Emory's 3 ranked wins and .636 SOS. I think a win this weekend and Emory is in.

You will be the second person to say it ;) See my post from a few weeks back. Men's soccer / Re: 2017 Season - National Perspective
« on: October 16, 2017, 09:16:45 am »
Personally I think Rowan has more hype than they should. I have watched them play a couple times so far this season. Are they a good team? Of course they are. Do they have Final 4 caliber talent? Most certainly. But are they disciplined enough to mentally make a run of 6 straight games to a final? I don't think they are. They have 3 solid wins and 2 tough losses. I don't know if they have challenged themselves enough this year to prepare them for the treacherous journey of the NCAA tournament.
We saw it last year with a disappointing second round exit at home with all the national title hype. We saw it the previous year (2015) with a disappointing first round exit to Dickinson. I firmly believe last year's Rowan team was better than this year's Rowan team despite the lack of depth last year compared to this year. That would worry me if I were a Prof fan.
I am still not sure why they didn't challenge themselves more in the non-conference. Messiah, Lycomimg, and CNU are all great tests (1-2-0) but other than that they played 6 legit cupcakes and an under-performing F&M side. The NJAC is way down this year and that will hurt them come tournament time.
A lot depends on the draw, match-ups, health, and most importantly luck! We will see what happens for the Profs but I wouldn't be surprised to be talking about another 1st or 2nd round exit this year in about a month.

Bottom line: The clock you see on a broadcast stream isn't guaranteed to be the scoreboard clock. Sometimes the clock is kept manually for purposes of the scoreboard graphic. If you're not seeing something that is clearly a camera shot of the clock cut into the broadcast, then you can't know for sure, really.

ill be the first person here to call this. Rowan season will be over in the first weekend of NCAAs.
Loser how does Camden look for the ECAC's?
Camden will be just fine. they had one "bad" year in the last 8-9. check out what camden and montclair did to the NJAC from 2006-this year. completely and utterly owned by them both. each having multiple years in a row. rowan on the other hand has 1 championship since 2003. don't let one bad season determine the fate of a team that was a national powerhouse in the worst city in America. i can spit facts all day to back that up as well. Camden has top 10 win streak of 37 games i believe without losing. like i said before you try recruiting to camden.. oz is a tactical genius and he proved it at every level

Don't sweat it, firstplaceloser. When a team's assistant is on the boards talking trash at you, you've gotten in his head.
what kills me is the fact that if Camden made a "ring chasing" video before even winning their conference tournament some of you would have had a field day. there is absolutely no way this Rowan team would've beaten the 2013 Camden team. Rowan's cockiness is seen as okay but once i try to say something it's automatically not true. Camden did more than enough to earn the respect of
the nation the last 8 years. anything to the contrary is a load of crap. i look for consistency

you have to watch the video on their instagram to see the actual game clock. the other video isn't correct. and i am a ref, the ball must cross the line before time expires. but i really don't know what i would have done there
Thanks for clarification on the ball crossing the line before time expires. Stockton should have pressured that player and not given him the opportunity to get the shot off...can't blame the ref for that.
sorry i took so long to respond had problems with account yesterday. but yes i do ref college as wel as high level club/edp. as for the clock the ref is supposed to keep the official time unless he is told something different.

It's awesome to see the Camden fans so passionate about their program. The bottom line is that Kids have better options now. Two years in a row for Camden to miss the NCAA tournament doesn't make recruiting any easier.

It's tough to recover like that after losing so many All americans and all conference players. Camden has a very good defense and their midfielders keep it simple they are just missing that forward that changes the game. ex. Mike Ryan. top 5 forwards in D3 history without a doubt. kid scored at will and for fun sometimes. there isn't many teams that are willing to play anyone anywhere and i think you see that a lot not just in camden but the entire NJAC. give it 2 more years and you will see camden come back on top. Maybe they wanted to give someone else a chance to win it this year. i think rowan will have their hands full tomorrow and i know i will not be missing this one. kind of pulling for a Rowan W though so they can host a round of NCAAs
Camden had an absolutely incredible run, and they won't just disappear, but the reason they had the run they did is because if you were a kid in South Jersey you went to Camden if they recruited you. Once Stockton and Rowan came back on the scene life got harder for Camden. Now they have to share the best players in the area with those two programs.
Again, I'm not swiping Camden, but kids like Keegan Balle, Mike Ryan, Grotti and many others are now divided up between Rowan Stockton and Camden. Their talent level isn't even close to what it was a few years ago, and as long as Stockton and Rowan stay in the mix they will not come close to reaching the Apex they have reached.
Edit: their apex being national championship runs, not just winning the NJAC which they could certainly do again soon

yeah you're exactly right. BTW Keegan Balle was a complete accident haha we were VERY lucky to get him that season but he came 3 weeks into the season. he was supposed to transfer to Syracuse but it got messed up last second and ended up in dirty Jersey. just imagine if Rutgers wasn't in the worst city in the nation... i'm not claiming we were the best team ever but we deserve a little more respect than some of these people on here give. i will say it again, bring whoever you want to play us and it will be a battle.
By the way who is going to the NJAC final tonight
I thought Rowan imposed their will on RUN last time they met especially physically. It will be interesting to see how RUN plays this. They need this game. Rowan's 6'8 GK is a beast..curious how quick he is at getting down
I said this last time but I am sorry RUN is going nowhere fast with a 5'6 GK..That is a huge liability
0-0 about 5 minutes left in the Half and Rowan have had the more dangerous chances in the 1st Half. A couple real good looks that need to be finished. RUN plays some nice 2 touch and have had some dangerous chances as well especially a DeSouza set piece right before the Half that got deflected or it was heading for the net

very confused why Rowan thinks kickball is going to work..
Game starting to get stretched..Yea Rowan trying to split the CB's with long balls but to not much effect. That Doherty kid has another gear,,he is very pacey and dangerous
IMO Rowan needs to keep shooting and test this GK..Keep ripping shots..
doherty would be able to do more if #9 actually passed the ball sometimes.
the most comical thing about rowan fans is them screaming to Fabio that he sucks lol
That is just weak sauce defending by Rowan on that set piece...RUN player left unmarked on a ball that has to be dealt with
wooooooow wide open! golasooooo
I will say that most D3 teams would kill to have a home crowd like Rowan has tonight..Looks like a good # of people supporting them
yeah for sure they always have a big crowd. i think rowan is going to score before it's over though
wow... congrats to Newark in their first ever NJAC championship. i know Kevin East will never forget about this
Nice to see RUN win the title, it looks like it will be just them and Rowan from the NJAC going to the tourny. I don't think either will make it to the final 4 but we will see how it plays out.

Tougher than the bottom left that has teams #1 Calvin and #2 Trinity, plus #7 Chicago?
I would go from toughest to easiest:

2. Top Right
3. Top Left
4. Bottom Right

I agree with rudy....
Compare North Park, Oglethorphe, W&L, St Thomas, Loras, Otterbein and Kenyon VERSUS Messiah, Buff St/Hobart. Cortland, Middlebury, Oneonta, UR/Conn Coll, Amherst, Springfield.
Not trying to take away from North Park and St Thomas, but Messiah, Cortland and Oneonta, and then Amherst already looks and sounds tougher to me.

Thought that was peculiar as well. I guess they're counting blocked shots in that total....weaksauce.
OMG...Cabrini scores off a set piece and upsets Rowan...1-0
Cabrini GK just had made a fantastic save against a Rowan free kick at the top of the box...lol Rowan color guy said that Cabrini GK deserved 2 cookies after his performance tonight...the color guy sounds as burnt as 2 cookies
Rowan disappoints again! I called this weeks ago too. sad but that's why the tournament is amazing!
That is more than disappointing...That could be Top 10 Upsets of all time in D3 NCAA History..
WHAT?! Rowan couldn't find that ring they were looking for? :-X

Quoting myself for a third time this season.
I was giving them to at least tomorrow but Cabrini.... CABRINI?!
NJACs last hope is going to OT
Cabrini actually had a few more dangerous moments then I expected. 4-5 times one of their wingers got loose on Rowan.
Rowan is a really weird team. Ton of talent but I've seen them 3 times now in the past two weeks and not once was I blown away by their level.
Rowan/West Campus Fields to Pursue Development of Major Athletic Complex
The Rowan University Board of Trustees at its December 13 meeting approved a resolution to enter into a letter of intent with West Campus Fields (WCF) to lease nearly 300 acres to WCF for the development of a multi-sport athletic complex.
"The Board's vote demonstrates Rowan's full commitment to the project," said Ali A. Houshmand, president of Rowan University. "We are confident that WCF will be able to secure what it needs to make this project a great success. We look forward to sharing the specifics as the project progresses."
The University has been working closely with Elite Development Program (EDP), the lead partner in West Campus Fields, to develop the planned complex, which will include a 4,500-seat arena, an indoor training center, more than 50 athletic fields, artificial turf fields, baseball fields, tennis courts, outdoor track and field venues, a hotel and retail space.
Steve Shilling, president of EDP, commented: "We are excited to be working with Rowan University and our development partners to build what we believe will be the best youth sports venue in the United States."
The facilities are expected to draw 1.5 million visitors a year, primarily for youth sports tournaments and training. The complex also will be home to Rowan University Athletics.
The plan calls for the complex to be on Rowan's West Campus, at the intersection of Routes 55 and 322 (Harrison and Mantua townships in Gloucester County), 2 miles from the University's Glassboro campus. Site plans are still being developed, however.
Rowan University began purchasing farmland at the intersection in 2002 and eventually assembled 600 acres, bisected evenly by Route 322. In 2008, Rowan opened the South Jersey Technology Park on the north side. The University sold approximately 100 acres south of Route 322 to Inspira Health Network in 2016 to build a regional hospital, which is under construction today.

WOW! Good for Rowan, this is going to be incredible. Can't wait to see proposals of what it's going to look like. My guess is there are going to be a ton of fields used for youth tournaments and then 1 or 2 stadium-seated fields where the men's and women's teams will play, depending on if they each get their own field. I'm assuming many of you have been to the Bethesda soccer complex (I think it's called Germantown/Maryland Soccerplex) where they have many tournaments. My son and daughter usually have 2-3 weekends of games there per year and I picture that is exactly what the Rowan complex is going to look like.
This plan with EDP has been in the works for a couple of years now. Rowan coach has/had a position with EDP and EDP will prosper from the availability of land. The plan is to move the EDP tournaments from Tuckahoe Farms to the Rowan facility which is great for the DE/MD/PA/SNJ group but makes it a pain for the NNJ teams to get to. Everyone will adjust, it will be great.
A 4,500 person stadium? Is Rowans rumored move to D1 confirmed by the University? If not this facility screams Division 1 move. There is no reason for Rowan to have a facility that seats 4,500 if they are planning to stay Division 3.
While I am sure it will be great facility for youth soccer. As a Rowan player I would prefer to stay on campus versus playing two miles away. The current setup is already one of the best in d3 soccer.

I dont think there situation is one of the best in d3 soccer, it's a nice field, with some fine bleachers, but basically everyone has that now. I do agree though, that having to go off campus every day is not ideal.
I guess I only know the places tufts has played in the last couple of years. But I would take Rowan over any of the NESCACs. Plus the different camera angles they have there are pretty sweet. With the videos Tufts made this year if would have been cool to integrate that type of film.
Rowan will have no student support when they move to fields off campus but there is a lot of money to be made having the ability to host tournaments.
