So I am assuming that everyone will fill out their bracket at http://d3challenge.com/ (http://d3challenge.com/)!
With that said, I think it would be fun to have everyone post their Final Four teams onto this tread and we can see if we have any elite D3 minds that get all 4. If we want to make a game out of it, we could rank them 4-1 based on your confidence level, like the MIAA predictions do. The tie breaker would be picking the national champion, and whatever team advanced further would get the edge.
Just let me know what you guys think, pretty easy concept so hopefully we can get a lot of participation!
I went with...
4- Whitman
3- John Carroll
2- Williams
1- Hamilton
with Whitman beating John Carroll in the final. Really not confident in any of them but that was how it went and better to not second guess my picks from Monday.
I had Williams, Augustana, WashU, and Swarthmore. I had Swarthmore-York in the sectional final and felt like Swat might get them since its a rematch. That's the one that seems most far-fetched, but almost any team is liable to be upset this year.
I think I picked York in the D3hoops.com preview - I think they're pretty good, too.
I liked the Williams-Augie Salem rematch - feels crazy to think both teams could get back missing their best player from this season.
I've got WashU winning over Augie.

I was at that game; it was during semester break with a small crowd. The rematch with a full house should go to York, also.

Yeah, it feels like a toss-up. I watched the whole game on the webstream and it felt like Swat was better (albeit not by much). They're also now finally back on form. Could be a good one if it happens.

Not who I think will win, but since it's the last year the Final Four will be at Salem it's who I want to win. I've never been to Salem and would like to see my Cardinals make it there. I also root for Middlebury since I've known Coach Jeff Brown for a long time and think he's a class act. So I'm wishing and hoping for those two to make it to Salem.

So after watching the games tonight, I might put Swat at #2 in the remaining teams. I'm not sure they're better than Augie, but they are playing stellar basketball right now. Just really impressive. Big guys who can run. Deep bench.

I took a flyer on those two teams as they weren't the teams I thought would end up in the Championship game, just the teams I wanted to end up there. Alas my dream final pairing is over but it was nice while it lasted. I'm still in good shape in a number of the fantasy leagues so I'll have to get my NCAA jollies rooting for my players. Go Prairie Wolves!! I got 3 of those guys on one of my teams. May not even need to win another game to win that league. :D
I think it would be fun to predict the Fort Wayne Four before the season even starts.

Well, 4 NESCAC teams last year were in 2 separate brackets. Williams and Middlebury in the top left quadrant while Wesleyan and Hamilton were in the bottom right. So last year Hamilton and Williams wouldn't have met until the final if they had made it that far.

How about you really up the points for the final four, final and winner points and keep the early rounds low. This way in order to actually win you need teams to make it to the final four but in case Whitman and Williams make the final four with two other teams no one predicted (Concordia Moorhead and George Fox) the other two teams adding at least a couple points will serve almost as a tie breaker.

MIT is superior in the field in my estimation. Discipline, talent, leadership, but most importantly style difference & defensive focus.
Jomard is back and healthy. I was impressed in person by their ability to get good looks late in clock cycle. Very patient.
Hamilton over Williams slightly based upon graduation of Williams' ball handlers.
Augustana on the coin flip of who from Midwest will shoot lights out in tournament

MIT's also bringing in a freshman big who did very well for Panathanaikos' U-18 squad the last couple years. That could be very helpful in the tournament.
Being that my wife is Greek, hence my handle, and my nouno's (godfather) favorite team is Panathanaikos (though in soccer), MIT may be my new 4th favorite team. My 7-year old, Filippos Georgios (Philip George) is really good at math, so we always joke about him going to MIT too.

How easily people forget when Amherst and Williams met in the semifinals a few years ago ...
BTW - the four quads of brackets can be moved around and they don't affect mileage. That's because the semifinalists all go to the same place, right? So the east and west don't have to be on the same side of the bracket (say east and west). You can mix the four quads around and get all kinds of interesting semifinal match ups without affecting the tournament one bit.
I can't be the only one who is intrigued by doing a full bracket preseason prediction, right?
To be clear, leaving the bracket and matchup/milage decisions out of it, just choosing the teams.

I'm changing my WhitMAN to WhitWORTH. I'll leave everything else the same. Both teams have a ton of talent, both teams will be on top of the league, but I think Whitworth edges out Whitman to win the league, and I'll really go out on a limb.....getting that conference tournament win gives Whitworth the regional finals. Plus, I'd hate to be joining the bandwagon as I think 5 others have Whitman while none have Whitworth, so I'll jump off the Man bandwagon, and hop aboard the Worth bandwagon.
I've got a couple of Worth players in the various Greek Fantasy Leagues (College, Roach) so hoping they do well.
