New contest idea ... predict the Pool C berth teams, starting well before season's end.
For each of the five Mondays leading up to (and including) Selection Monday, pick the 20 teams that you expect to receive Pool C berths. One point for each eventually-correct pick each week, for a total of 100 possible points.
This gets tricky because good teams are clearly more likely to get in the tournament, but often also more likely to win Pool A bids, removing them from Pool C consideration.
Maybe you get half points if they get in with Pool A?
Either way, I'm down for this and would love it.
Sounds interesting. Count me in.

That's a good challenge to guess what team would get the Pool A, so not getting points for that Pool A is part of figuring out and guessing who'd get the Pool C...upsets and all.

My thought in only giving points for actual Pool C teams was to increase the strategy involved, having to think through which conference leaders might be more likely to get upset in their conference tournaments.

Yeah, that was my line of thinking.
Deadline of noon Monday each week?
Yeah I'm down with any rules. I was just spit balling. Noon Monday deadline sounds good to me.
Yes, first round of picks today or tomorrow morning.

The first regional rankings aren't released until Feb 6. Why don't you make the deadline NEXT Monday or Tuesday??
I suppose you can definitely include this week to make it 100 points, instead of 80. You posted this yesterday and 1st picks are due tomorrow. Kind of short notice for some.
Wednesday, Feb. 6 First regional ranking.
Wednesday, Feb. 13 Second regional ranking. Friday, Feb. 15 Deadline for the online submission of proposed budget, key contacts, and facility evaluation to the NCAA national office for institutions interested in hosting preliminary or sectional rounds of the championship.
Wednesday, Feb. 20 Third regional ranking. Sunday, Feb. 24 Deadline for conference offices to report to the NCAA the institution that is the 2019 automatic qualifier.
Monday, Feb. 25 Selection announcement of teams participating in championship. First-/second-round sites announced. Final regional ranking. CHAMPIONSHIP DATES Friday/Saturday, March 1-2 First-/second-round games at 16 campus sites. Friday/Saturday, March 8-9 Sectional games at four campus sites. Friday/Saturday, March 15-16 Semifinals and championship in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Ok, that's a valid point, so here's a compromise.
- Extend this week's deadline to noon
Tuesday, as tonight's D3 schedule is very light, but future weeks remain noon Mondays (Feb. 4, 11, 18, & 25).
- If there are others who miss this week's deadline but really want to join in, then we will use this week only as a tiebreaker, counting just the four February weeks of picks.
Definitely got a few Pool A winners here but I'll go with it.

Since it appears noon Mondays isn't working well as a deadline, we'll make a permanent change noon Tuesdays. If anyone who already posted their picks wants to change them based on the outcomes of tonight's games (which include UW-W at UW-O and Augsburg at St John's), that's fine.
Good. I think that a Tuesday deadline makes more sense.
This is good. I was just going to go off the top of my head right now to make the deadline but now I'll have tonight. Think that's a good move, fantastic50.

That works, I felt like I was in a hurry and just used the 20 from last week. Even Wednesday at noon isn't out of the question since the actual rankings don't come out until the afternoon. Obviously come selection Monday, we'll have to adjust our schedules and have our picks in on MONDAY by noon.
Sorry, I can't go further with this. I won't have time over the next month. Sorry to deprive you all of another opportunity to beat me in a contest!

There may or may not have been a participant who twice picked a team with more losses than wins, likely confusing them with another team from the same conference. ;)

Yes, February 4-5, just before the first official regional rankings were released.
Oh, there was one before that? I thought we were just doing the official rankings. Mine should read 0-8-9-13-19.
No, you had picks in for "Week Zero" on January 28, but then missed the following week.

I didn't know Week zero existed. I intended those picks for Week 1.
Got it. I don't think that it would have changed the outcome for the top 3. However, your 19/20 on the final round was impressive.

I thought Ryan was 20 for 20? Who did not get in among his picks?

What kind of voodoo magic do we have going on here?? His post does have La Crosse and it was last edited at 8am, which is before the selection show.

There may or may not have been a participant who twice picked a team with more losses than wins, likely confusing them with another team from the same conference. ;)
Who were you referencing here?

Smitty,
So you agree he had all 20 correct?

I recorded all the picks around 8am yesterday morning, at which time Ryan had La Roche instead of La Crosse. It certainly looks like he changed the pick before the selection show!
The real question is did Ryan knowingly pick the Eagles from La Crosse or was it the greatest mental freudian slip the D3 Fantasy-League threads have ever seen, when he actually meant to pick La... Roche?
I wasn't sure if anyone was playing this. Just moving it forward since the Pool C selections will be made tomorrow.
