Man, that's some stuff NC competition!

They're going to need it.  I don't think there's enough eligible teams to have a Pool B this year.

Murvul is chasing a pool c bid and i don't think they will get it with the bulk of their nationally ranked schedule behind them.  Good move to a new conference and it will work out long term but there will be two years of pain.

Yo Grubby!

Teams who have beat Scots are 27-2.  I feel for the upperclass Scots who are caught in this transition.

It does look like a lot of the young'uns can play.

No...maybe the only one that posts. There are tons of lurkers here. Usually there's a dedicated few from each conference that actually post. It's frustrating for us because we seem like we're talking to ourselves sometimes. But every post is appreciated by those who don't. Keep up the good fight.

Is there any mechanism available to recruit posters from fans of the CSS schools who may not know about D3Hoops? If former posters move on, how do new people...parents of players, for instance...learn of us?

If you go to games, just start talking loudly about this site. Seriously. If you are on any social media, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc, always post a link to this board or mention d3hoops.com etc.

We got through the first year of not having an automatic qualifier from this new conference. Maryville scheduled so it would have a strong strength of schedule and might get a Pool C bid. Ambitious idea that just did not quite work out...Scots lost too many games to really good teams. They played four teams that are in the Sweet 16 (and beat one of them). I am sure the Scots were a better team by the end of the season than a lot of schools that got to play in the NCAA. Too bad for the players, especially the seniors.  Winning the conference and the tournament is a fine accomplishment.

It will be interesting to try again next year! Scots were starting four freshmen at the end.

Berea to the HCAC. Drops most men's sports to six. Does CCS add MUW to stay above that?

Maryville adds some talent to a good returning team. Still not eligible for an AC so will need all this help,

A little further north than Berea so the trips would be a little longer but would keep Kentucky in the CCS footprint.

It is a long trip from Berea to Jackson Mississippi and longer from Asbury....

I can't wait to see the new locker room and upgrades at Murvul.  Coach P is the greatest Coach Murvul has ever had!  I know there was another good one there once but I can't quite remember his name.  Who was there before Coach Placeres?  Was it Bob Johnson?

Well Matt Grubb is still alive! So are the Real Scots. Maybe too many good players?

The Scots will have lots of depth and a video board.  There will be highlights of Jack Roberts on the video board and maybe some of the players or whatever.  Coach P is building something special, well his wife is but she is letting him take the credit for it.  The alumni, who I thought were all deadbeats and/or degenerates, are coming through again this year on the fundraiser!  In all seriousness, the alumi base for MC basketball comes through every year and the alumni base provided a great tag team coaching duo.  Coach P and Coach McCord work great together and are doing great things for those young men.  The program is starting to get a Y2K feel to it, like something special is going to happen over the next 5-7 years.  You can tell by the way Jackson Garner struts like a peacock now that he has located the weight room then surprisingly learned to lift some weights.  Two huge steps for that young man.  I am sure his amazing stepfather dragged him in there one day and showed him how a real man works out!!!!  He's still got it!
Now my crazy prediction for the year:  Daryl Rice will have a phenomenal year!  He's taken a step forward every year and he will take a giant leap this year and coach P will love life when the ball is in his hands.  He will also have a career year for assists and steals as he will be able to focus on everything in his bag and score only when he needs to.  He is being coached by two great Scots PG's!!!!

Tough start for Maryville. With no AQ, they gotta win some of these games against high caliber teams.

OK CCS fans. Maryville being picked to win the conference seems to make sense.  Anybody else up to the task?

Piedmont has a very good team.  That would be the other one I'd watch out for.  Maryville on much better present form, though.

Ok out there...   I certainly look forward to next year when the CCS gets an AQ.  Maryville goes 22-5, wins the conference and the tournament and cannot get a Pool C bid.  By the end, the Scots are really good. And lose one (very valuable) player through graduation.  It is a crapshoot to schedule who you need to play outside the conference and region, and it costs a lot of money to go far away to find teams to play...but it is a bummer to have the kind of season the Scots had and not get to play somebody.

So Maryville has announced three recruits, fewer than usual. But plan on 17 players as many are returning. Looks like Coach Placeres has set up a really competitive group!

Maryville is 1-1, which is better than last year's 0-2 start. Still looking for some rhythm on offense and better defense.  Absence of RJ Simmons is evident. Two freshmen played very well. Tough schedule coming up!

At least the conference has an AQ this year, so they have that to possibly fall back on, instead of having a pretty good record, but nothing to show for it.

Not sure yet about Maryville...Scots have lost to some good teams and beat 2 SAA teams. Losing RJ Simmons to acl deprives Scots of size and skill inside. Reed Kemp is a player. Early to know much!

Ok. Maryville has one last chance to dominate the CCS and get to the NCAA.  Looks promising.

LOL no, I've never seen the SAA more lively in anything, basketball or football.  Used to be a pretty active poster from Birmingham-Southern before they went belly up.  You'll have me from time to time in basketball now that Trinity's full-time SAA.
