Story in the March 16 issue of the Daily Herald that the "hazed" football player is now suing both Wheaton College and head coach Doug Swider for "ignoring" the long standing hazing in the football program.

Congratulations to Augustana on another great season: CCIW co-championship and Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament. Well done.
I was kind of glad they didn't make the Final Four, it's kind of nice to give another school the chance to finish second.

Has wing-t offense: Cary-Grove uses it and they are in playoffs all the time. Very successful program.

Wow.
A quarter century ago, right before the school closed, the Upsala College men's basketball program was given the NCAA death sentence for serious financial aid infractions, namely charging its players tuition and then making no attempt to get the players to pay up. Upsala was an ELCA college, the same as Augustana and Carthage, and the school North Park beat to win the 1980 NCAA title.
In Upsala's case it was proven that the infraction collusion went all the way to the presidents desk. I remember that the infraction report was a page and a half in agate type in the old NCAA newspaper.

Rebounding statistics are tad different now because prior to the 1967 season common fouls before the seventh foul resulted in a one shot free throw. More missed free throws to rebound.
Having never seen Warden play I am still amazed at his scoring Marks.
Sikma did not have the three point shot either, but made many baskets at the top of the key.
Best shooters I ever saw in the league were Dave Shaw of Carroll and Bill Simpson of Elmhurst, and without the three pointer put up huge numbers never coming within 25 feet of the basker on offense or defense.

According to my now fuzzy memory no NP team has ever won at AC and Iw in the same year.
Interesting future research project how many teams from the north have completed the downstate southern triple. I believe Wheaton did it five times in the fifties, but I doubt there is another five in the 70 year history of the league.

Rather than flying, I understand IWU is busing it to their game with with NWU in Lincoln, NE.
That's about a 16 hour round trip on the bus. Should be fun!![]()
When I lived in Lincoln from 2011-2014 and traveled to Bloomington often for work I learned that, unfortunately, driving is pretty much the best route all things considered. There are a couple flight options that can get you door to door in about 6:30 if everything works out perfectly. But more times than not, it takes every bit the 7:30 it does to drive.
Then you consider traveling with an entire football team...and busing seems like a no-brainer.
Real big dose of Iowa on that drive.
Yeah, I get to make that trip next season with the team when North Park travels to Fremont, NE (which is 45 minutes past Omaha) for the return game against Midland. Eight hours via bus -- and it's likely going to mean an overnight in the Cornhusker State.
I'm already griping about it.
I've been to Fremont and it's no trip to Hollywood.
But what can you expect from a Lutheran school.

Did Paul Brenegan have previous collegiate head coaching experience? How about Ron Rose and Steve Littrell?

Old nine game schedule
Began December 1967, ended when Carroll left the league
Carthage and Carroll made southern trips, but rarely together
IWU, Millikin and Augie made northern trips, rarely together
In January and February there were usually league games on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. Wheaton played it's mid week home games on Tuesday nights so as not to interfere with mid week Wednesday night services that were popular at local churches at that time.
DGP CCIW PD 1978-1995
I also seem to remember Carthage having to play scheduled games on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at the end of several seasons.

North Park leads wire-to-wire in a 74-61 win over Wheaton. Juwan Henry led all scorers with 25, while Jordan Robinson had 14 points and 10 rebounds, Michael Hutchinson scored 11 and hauled in 7 rebounds, and T.J. Cobbs had 10 points. Masten and Berntsen each scored 13 for the Thunder.
When was the last time NP swept Wheaton?
