Kinda strange not having games this Labor Day weekend.  Not that I'm complaining--weather is prime for lake time.

I feel like this is Blaha's 7th year.

I doubt it, but I have been wrong a time or two.

One of the new 8th grade coaches in our association is a recent Tommie.  Thankfully, Duff Jr. isn't on that team.  ;D

Ah, the guy in the SJU shirt is Jason Good, an all-American DL for SJU in the early-2000s.  His dad, Perry, is/was a professional fisherman. Good people!

I wish it were me!  We're heading to the BWCA soon with a buddy from SJU, so hopefully, I will have some pics to share.

Quote from: emma17 on July 31, 2025, 01:07:58 PMI saw some great fish photos from a guy wearing a St. John's t-shirt. He fished at Witch Bay Camp in Ontario. Beautiful Walleye, Pike and Musky.

Got a link?  I wanna see if I know this guy.

Quote from: art76 on August 01, 2025, 07:31:24 AMI haven't wrestled since the mid seventies, so the rules may have changed (like this might be Greco-Roman style) but it used to be that if you lifted your opponent off the mat, your knee had to be on the ground before your opponent hit the mat.

It's a moot point because this was a freestyle match where there is no such rule, but in folkstyle wrestling (i.e. high school and college), there's been a recent emphasis on preventing "slams".  I can't recall exactly how the rule is currently written, which reminds me that I should order a new rule book.
I actually recall an consolation semifinal match at the MSHSL State tournament last year that went to sudden victory overtime.  Wrestler A scored a takedown, which should have won him the match and put him in the 3rd place match, but the referee called him for a slam, which gave wrestler B a penalty point and the win.  It's an objective call, and there were a lot of boos from the crowd.

After losing Syverson to graduation, SJU at #5 is laughable.  I have no doubt his replacement will be good, but that is a lofty ranking for a huge unknown.

I probably won't make it to many of those games, but once you give up your reserved seats, it's hard to get decent seats again, so they pretty much have me over a barrel.

Stay tuned, I will probably give away a lot of tix this year.  ;)

LOL.  Glad I just dropped $520 on tix for those 6 home games.
