Quote from: OldAuggie on May 20, 2025, 10:33:01 PMLamker resigned tonight. Hopefully, the new AD can find a coach who will develop a competitive MIAC football program at Augsburg. I will believe it when I see it.Lamker's five-year record at Augsburg was 21-20. Has there been an Augsburg coach with a winning record? Not trying to be a troll, genuinely curious.

Good for him, yes. Sure does illustrate the insanity of money in D1 power conferences.

Now it's mostly band geeks (like my sister and her husband).

April 16, 2025, 01:16:56 PMQuote from: Flynntowne on April 16, 2025, 01:12:26 PMAccording to the St. John's football archives, the football team's first loss against Morris was in 1975, by an 8 - 6 score. So, in the three years from 1975-1977, SJU was 0-2-1 against the Cougars.Forgot about 1975. It was a LONG time ago.

April 15, 2025, 10:39:36 PMQuote from: faunch on April 15, 2025, 07:09:40 PMI feel like I'm one of the only Johnnies that never really knew Fr. Don. I feel like I maybe had a brief chat with him once...my loss for not having any personal Fr. Don anecdotes. The tie was in the national championship season of 1976
On another note...SJU released their 2025 schedule. The SOS takes a hit with week two non-conference game hosting UMN-Morris. Might be good to not have top ranked opponent as the Johnnies will be breaking in a new QB. The Johnnies actually are all time .500 vs the Cougars (2-2-1).

The loss was in 1977, when we should have won another national championship. Maybe that was an omen. We $hit the bed against Wabash.

Rest in peace, Fr. Don.
Legendary. When I think of St. Johns Father Don is one of the first things that pops up. When I was in school, he was the student chaplain. Later the alumni chaplain. He was always my chaplain. An exceptionally kind and thoughtful man. I loved running into him at football games and chatting with him. He always called me "Mr. Ward."
He impacted the lives of countless people. Not just Johnnies.
I recommend checking out his Daily Reflections: Fr. Don's Daily Reflection — Saint John's Abbey

March 03, 2025, 06:16:39 PMQuote from: scottiedawg on March 03, 2025, 02:04:04 PMSt. Johns got jobbed because Chicago is within 500 miles of all three schools in the pod, St. Johns is not.Quote from: faunch on March 03, 2025, 01:46:58 PMHow does U of Chicago get to host with an 18-7 record, pool C bid and 34 NPI?
Because Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball are hosting.
I guess the good news is St. Johns often does not do well with home court advantage. Still, I'd have liked the opportunity to attend a game.

Well, it looks like Minnesota is #1 in at least one athletic category.
SCSU has to be good at something (other than hockey).
