GOD...Sounds like Im asking for forgiveness of something....

AI in the nescac is perception vs reality...Presidents shot down the 9th game 2 years ago because it would signal an 'intensifying of football"....AI to them, would signal the same thing.....yes we could argue the other way, but most of these presidents don't....Any changes in the NESCAC are in the president's hand, period.

As for the Penn/Harvard I was talking exact numbers, but Penn get more low bands in the AI than Yale/Harvard/Prineton......all I was saying is some schools get more, somw don't but Trinity finds their kids because they worked to carve a niche in recruiting, while Williams sits back and uses the line 'We are the best college in the nation, you are making a big mistake (insert school) if you go their.......'

oh and the whole tip thing was started by Williams, and so they got all the other schools in the league to buy in so they could maintain dominance in the league, it was a knee-jerk reaction to the books, Game of Life and Reclaiming the Game....

I for one like the fact Trinity is dominanting the league, because it is not Williams.... eventually they will lose one...when??? I just hope it is not Williams just for the fact NESCAC will never hear the end of it.>:(

I really think Barnhard's rant doesn't make alot of sense.....WHY? Well he is bitching cause Williams isn't winning the league....Why does he want an index, to bring back to earth the other teams that have found good, bright kids and got it done on the field. Every school get below the margin tips, some more some less, some each school has to recruit differently, some have to work harder than others. Williams won the damn directors cup for the billionth year in a row, I think their athletics dept. is fine and the system has worked.... The 14 tips or whatever the number maybe in the NESCAC has created parody in the league, and Trinity had a combination of finding the kids in their niche, and good coaching and they won.......Simple as that, maybe they got some kids that are 'quote' below the margin, but we talk as if a 1000-1100 SAT kids in a moron....which is not the case, every school has kids like that. Colby is the same way, maybe Williams should have worried about Colby instead of Trinity and they would have played a better game....Bowdoin same thing got things turned around by finding there niche recruiting....ALL the schools have difficulty recruiting, yes some may have more tips than others....But an AI won't change much.....Penn gets more below the margin tips than Harvard, but Harvard has a reputation.....similar to Trinity and Williams....It all comes down to recruiting and finding your niche.Every school has a national reputation and get kids nationally...,maybe you gotta work, but jeez you only play 8 games...and recruiting is don by FEB....many schools recruit up until the start of camp in August, or have rolling admissions...

In the NESCAC the AI won't come around because that would imply athletics is a priority and the NESCAC does not want that..(Presidents don't) and Barnhard unfortunatley barked up the wrong tree and is now out of a job, sometimes when you got it good (and a FT  coaching job at Williams is pretty good, keep your mouth shut, or in the least temper your comments) if he was the baseball coach at Bates maybe his gripe would have better support, but you are at WILLIAMS, and the attitude of if we are not the best something is wrong is tired and old, get off your pompous high horse and work at it....

Sorry for my rant...tension breaker had to be done...

It comes down to know you school, sell your strengths, find your niche....

And I believe his contract was not renewed at Yale......so what does that tell you.....

One game....what about the other 5 losses? Tufts should be like Trinity, they have the resources to recruit and the school size allows the school to take in more kids below the margin (not that they do, we are taking 1150+) for the nescac because they have an undergrad base of 4000. They have good facilities and a great rep. they are in Boston, Why do they not go 6-2, 7-1 every year....And you are statisfied? You played Trinity after the 3 previous games ripped up your field..It was a quagmire, and sloppy mud mess that equalized the playing field, you lost on one pass, but the Tufts offense did do much...and on a turf field or normal conditions, even in the rain on field that wasn;t used for off-road mud runs, the game would have been quite different......

If you have talent, then confidence helps a great deal, but if you do not have talent it helps until that one play comes along where a team goes 'here we go again'....Confidence is a product of a good training program- knowing you are physically ready, or believing you are in better condition, as well as a product of actually winning, winning helps boost it more than anything, Trinity is run like a major program, the kids have a great training program, great coaching, and they have 30 wins in a row, they have confidence, Williams has tradition as well as Amherst, Colby has developed it through work and perserverence and winning 33 games over six years and beating Williams twice...but they need to get the monkey of their back vs. Amherst...haven't won since 95'....Amherst may have lost to Bowdoin, but they have Colby's number, and that single game will have confidence as a factor for Them...Trinity will be interesting just by the fact they have not faced each other in 2 years, and confidence will be high on both parts, but may be determined by who lands the big blow first....If Colby can get anything going from the start they will have confidence throughout....not saying they  will win, but they will feel and play that way.....

Lots of parody in the league this year may seem some interesting upsets across the board.......

Don't know how much that will help....Not that the OC is much write home about...

I can understand the arguement for not beating Amherst since 95' in Colby's case, and Trinity they have played only twice, and split with Williams, but to call Williams and Amherst top tier and not Colby doesn't make that much sense since the league with the exception of Trinity has more parody than it did in previous years. Colby has finished above amherst or tied with them (2004) each of the past three years...Amherst lost to a Tufts, and Bowdoin over that span (games they should have won by the aformentioned arguement) Williams lost to Bates at Williams 2 years ago.....The Patsies of the league are not what they were, Does Amherst have Colby's number sure......but then again it is a 8 game season not 1 game....The league schedule is set up for the next millenium and you should not blame Colby for getting the luck of the draw.....They deserve the respect they earned, and I think they will give Trinity a game....the outcome....who knows......but they will play hard....

Colby went 7-1 back in 2000 Tied with Amherst and Middlebury...They are known mostly as a team with good chemistry, who play hard and smart. They have good players, but never have had guys like a Keenan. Stepka had been there 'marquee' player, but other than that they are well coached and play hard. Since 2000 they were 7-1, 4-4, 4-4, 5-3, 6-2, 7-1.....over that six years. They play Trinity 1st game, and I am not saying they will win, but they will play there asses off and give them every thing they have....And with football, you never know what can happen....as the cliche goes that is why they play the game..........

I will say this about Trin....great players and depth, plus great coaching equals 30 wins in a row, and maybe more

Why do people always lump Bowdoin with Colby in regards to football. Colby has finished 2nd the past two seasons in the league and are tied with Williams with the 2nd best record in the nescac at 18-6 over the past three years. Why do you keep saying Colby will get better...of course they will, but the truth is they have been good.....Bowdoin had one good year...They now replace Middlebury with Williams, and I doubt Amhesrt will turn the ball over 7 times in there game, and they still have to play Tufts,Trinity and Colby @ Colby. They are still one year wonders until they prove otherwise. Colby over 6 years 33-15 Bowdoin 10-38 there is now comparison with Colby and the Maine schools.....proof is in the pudding... I am not sayin they dominate like Trinity, but they have a proven track record of success that deserves its due.....

Remember Williams does not require SAT's so they do not have to report SAT's that are below standards or ones that will make SAT's lower......It is smoke and mirrors as far as SAT's go....a manipulation of numbers....lots of schools do this as well.

Derrell Wright was the most physically gifted WR in 2000 and 2001, that has been around the league.

Oliphant never got alot of love, but went to the aztec bowl, but had a tryout with the Ravens.... and did a hell of a job on the Colby line, desereves mention at least

Andy Steele from Middlebury....he was a beast.....Sherman DE from Colby, That WR from Amherst in 2000-01???Can't remeber his name..

Are you serious about those predictions...other than Trinity what are you talking about. Bowdoin lost their whole offense.....7-1 come on, Colby has a number of key offensive players and the majority of a very good defense coming back. Williams was on fire the last 6 game average a ton of points...Amherst always good..You must be a Polar Bear grad to make the arrogant assumption that Bowdoin would even sniff the CBB since they haven't beaten colby in 7 years...and 9 point vs the Mules in 3 years......

I think by the fact that the top 2 teams in the NESCAC last year, and by virtue of a 30 game win streak is the reason the Colby, Trinity game draws similarities...Besides Colby has the 2nd best reccord in NESCAC over the past three years and hasn't played Trinity, they play hard, and they are tough, why not think this would be a good game??? Yes Trinity has talent and good coaching, but Colby did beat the bag out of Williams 35-9, they are well coached and should provide of a quality game??? Right?? Or am I way off base......

Priore is a great coach, but admissions has dipped for him becuase he wanted it and got it and I wont't fault the guy for it we all would like those guys, and when he lefted they have begun to tighten up again. Look at the transfers that have gottten in over the years. Leo had a 1.7 as a transfer comming from colgate.....the LB from Uconn under a 1.o, and the QB from Virgina was on academic probation when he got there and those are 3 key players as well as a kid to transfer in from houston 8 days before the start of the season how does that work. Every school dips, but TrinTrin can dip to get kids that are not on the radar of any NESCAC school. Yes theri are some crossover kids, but not many.  I don't doubt the work he puts in, but to say Trinity recruits are as goo academically as the other NESCACs is ludriciris. Every admit to every school is shared by each others admissions departments, that is why people know who got in where, that is why admissions sees a problem. Every school recruits nationally, trinity didn't set any standard there, they can get more kids well below the margin than most. We are not talking half wits, but they do get a couple below 1000 SAT, and far more than anyone else below 1200...they are not dumb kids, but certainly not the profile of the nescac

Don't get me wrong if any coach could recruit those same kids they would, second great coaching, plus great talent = 30+ wins, but to say Trin is recruiting the same kids is not accurate.
