Good to see some of you this past Saturday. Mrs. Ritz and I stopped in quick to visit before one of the Ritz Bitz's playoff soccer games. Someday life will slow down and we can get back more often!
I had to weigh in on the J-Term talk:
Freshman: Art on the Internet (not that kind)
Soph: Sports Injuries (Had knee and shoulder surgery that off-season, so was basically the lab rat for it)
Junior: Foundations of Military Science (Canceled 13 of 20 times!!)
Senior: Basic Income Tax (My dad is a CPA so had the entire course done, with minimal help of my father
, in 2 days.
However, by far, best class at SJU was Campus Cultural Events AKA "Clap for Credit". Received Fine Arts credits for going to like 5-6 events during a semester. First year they had it, they even counted concerts at Brother Willie's!!

So this guy is sitting down taking a dump, the door gets thrown open and this beautiful lady bursts in and says, "_________________________________________".
Hey all!
Trying to work the schedule to get back into the swing again! I have been out of the loop for various reasons (no not rehab stint #8).
Wont make the NW game, but have September 15 on the calendar!

I am a big believer that you play your starters to begin the third quarter, regardless of the situation. Give the firsts one drive, then replace the QB/RB/WR for the second drive (not that the line is unimportant, but nice to have the 2nds in those other positions play with the 1st line. Then from there, on the road, play the 2nds the rest of the way. At home, play the 2nds for 2-3 drives, then start the revolving door (i.e. "Hey, come stand here if you haven't played yet.")
Another issue I have with people crying over passing when up by a large margin (and I am really pi$$ed that so many Johnnies are doing this). You still have to let your team play situational football. If you expect a team to run dive 3 times then punt, would you be upset if they took three knees and then punted, or better yet, punt on second or third down? If your 2nds/3rds/4ths..are in and facing a 3rd and 15, is it "running it up" to attempt to get a first down by passing? NO WAY!
Third issue I have is that the people who whine and complain the most about running up the score issues are, for the most part, people who NEVER played the game at this level. Luckily for me, in my 4 years, I was only on the losing side of and a$$ whooping 1 time. However, we didn't complain and cry over the fact that we got trounced...we accepted it, moved on, and put together a run the next year! College football does not and will not ever give everyone a participation ribbon at the beginning of the year.
Plain and simple.....SJU has gotten woodsheded twice this year.
Might it happen again? Could.
What's wrong with this version of the Johnnies? Opinions vary.
Where do we go from here? Time will tell!

Man how life gets going when you have active kids!!!
Hope all is going well with everyone (aside from the obvious for the Johnnie Faithful!)
I'm living the life now a lead principal! Spending time learning 9 man football, and chasing the Ritz Bitz around the state/country! Hence my overall absense from PP and games the past 3 years!
I miss my "Office with a View" and the escapades of the guy who lived there, but I am sure to have some tidbits to share in the future, as the house I look at across the street now has two large 4x8 sheets of CDX where the garage door should be!
However, it is Tommie Week, and regardless of the quality of the game this coming Saturday, I have a little time to get in (actually i am killing time waiting for my 6:45 school board meeting)!
Im BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good to hear from you Ritz, I was beginning to think that you were in prison....a run down state prison with no internet access
Still on my self imposed banishment. SJU is now 1/3 of the way there!

This Saturday will mark the first time I have missed Homecoming at SJU since my junior year in high school (1990). In fact, this year will be the first year I do not plan on attending a SJU game, period, since 1987.
There are many mitigating factors for this season long boycott of anything SJU, but first and foremost is my total disagreement with the direction Saturdays in Collegeville have headed (aside from the Sci-Lot).
I will not get on here and rant, but IMHO, until there is a philosophical redirection into what a Saturday at SJU means, I will better serve my time being away from theNatural, Orville Reddenbacher/Pepsi/______Pizza/Whatever New Sponsors/Elitist Leaning Box Sitters/Corporate Tent Hosting/Dont Offend Anyone by Wearing Funny Tee-Shirts/Politically Correct Bowl.

The highlight of my weekend, you ask? Why, it was having Hamm's with Ritz at the La Playette on Friday night.
Fins,
Were you sacked right after the Hamm's?![]()

Ritz has been known to give up a few.
This coming from the man who mastered the "Look Out!!!" block...

Was a great night until the 2:30 am call from the family my daughter was staying with letting me know she was sick and wanted me to come get her!

Any honorary degree is like being named "Best Attitude" at band camp.
Another glowing example of the fine quality graduates that USTD is putting out:

And after getting 4 All-Stars in 2008, St. John's only got 2 in 2009. That's not a good trend.
Forgive me, and nothing against the kids that play in the All-Star game (as they are all very talented players), but as a high school assistant coach, I know of a number of kids that could have or should have been playing in that game but are held out because of coach politics, conference politics, etc., not to mention some kids take vacations or are otherwise unavailable for the game. So I don't read TOO much into who plays in the game-- I take more stock into all-state teams, and even then-- politics play extremely heavy into that as well.
If a coach doesn't lobby hard enough to get his kids in, or if another conference coach doesn't get along with a fellow conference coach, some very talented kids are left out of this game. And I say this not because my school should have had some kids in this game-- rather, I have seen some kids in the conference not get into this game. E.g. Harry Awe (now at SJU) was dynamite at Minnehaha Academy. Rock solid, lights out-- carry the ball 30 times per game by diving into the middle and making something happen. But because the Minnehaha coach resigned after the season, and a certain other coach in the conference is extremely dismissive of his opponents, and perhaps because the game interfered with summer baseball, Awe did not compete. In my opinion, did he deserve it? You bet. And that is from an opponent's perspective even before he mentioned he was headed to SJU.
So TC, want to do the same calculation with all-state teams???
Ritz weren't you the MVP of the All-Star game your senior year? I thought you passed for over 500 yards and 7TDs and scored the winning TD on a sweep you hammered into the end zone with no time left in the game........![]()
