Quote from: Ralph Turner on March 18, 2026, 04:15:26 PMAs I ran the sponsored sports by member institutions, the Atlantic East does not have Men's or Women's Volleyball, Indoor Track and Field (M & W), Women's Flag Football or Men's golf.

The United East does not have M & W Swimming / Diving.

The AEC only has 5 teams for M & W Tennis, the UEC, 8 & 7.

The AEC has 6 M & W LAX. The UEC has 4 Men's LAX members plus 1 associate; they have 4 women's LAX teams.

Field Hockey - Immaculata, Gwynedd Mercy, and Manhattanville probably just going to affiliate with the UEC going forward.

M/W soccer, women's volleyball, M/W basketball won't lose their AQs until 2029-30 and the remaining 5 will probably affiliate with the UEC at that time.

Baseball and softball won't lose the AQ until 2028-29 and the remaining 5 will probably affiliate with the UEC at that time.

Men's lacrosse likely to go the other way with the United East teams going under the AEC banner. The UEC's 2-year AQ grace period expires after this season.

UEC women's lax I believe has already had their grace period expire and they won't have an AQ to the 2026 NCAA tournament. Their remaining programs definitely need to hop on board with the AEC.

Atlantic East hasn't had men's or women's tennis AQs in a number of years and their remaining members should probably just go over to the UEC as soon as possible. The men's champion plays the AMCC champion for what is technically the AMCC's auto bid.

**down the line, sometime around 2030, maybe the Atlantic East will re-classify itself as a single sport conference for lacrosse (men's and women's). Of course many institutions may close or re-classify or re-align between now and then.

Division I absolutely does not reseed the Final 4. Never has. Division II has reseeded the Elite 8 or whatever they call it for a number of years now, in all sports (semifinals for soccer and I think football).

I've never known any D3 conference to re-seed. It's probably more convenient for everybody involved to know who they're scouting and what their travel arrangements will be.

Ithaca has to beat Vassar to get in, Hobart couldn't lose to Bard even if they suited up the soccer team instead.

I also don't think it would be good for D3 to have a sudden influx of perhaps 100 or more schools that don't really want to be here, either institutionally or from their fan base perspective.

Quote from: Patrick Coleman on February 03, 2026, 03:38:15 PMNJCU will no longer be joining the CUNYAC. In fact, there will be no Division III athletics at New Jersey City University following the end of this academic year.

Quote from: Ryan Scott (Hoops Fan) on January 30, 2026, 10:43:33 AMMany of the NAC schools have been playing UMPI and UMFK like travel partners the last two seasons.  If you're making the trip up there, no real reason not to play both.  It'll be helpful to have both count in the future.

There's been open speculation that Cobleskill and Delhi are not long for the league, plus there's a real possibility one or both of the NVU campuses end or scale back athletics to the point they can't be in the NCAA.  Lots of unknowns, but I'm sure the league wants to be clear of the minimum.

It's not inconceivable in a couple years you'd have 7 Maine schools and Lesley.  I don't really know anything about Lesley's financial status, but that's certainly a similar profile to a lot of schools that have been closing.

Cobleskill and Delhi were admitted to the SUNYAC for 2026-27, along with Alfred State. That announcement was made in June 2025.

I don't mean to troll but I think Seattle by 2 touchdowns. The Pats beat up a lot of bad teams and they're probably not here if Bo Nix doesn't break his ankle against Buffalo.

They'll have to make it another rock fight and try to win 13-10.

Quote from: ICAlum16 on January 22, 2026, 08:54:02 AMI am hearing word that the IC head coaching search is not going as smoothly as people would like. The word I've heard used is "disorganized". I don't have much more than that but I don't think the new AD is winning any favor with how things are going...

I'll never understand why they thought replacing Susan with a JUCO guy was a good idea. Reminds me of when they hired Hartwick's AD 20+ years ago and then all the teams basically turned into Hartwick.

Ithaca won the Empire 8 commissioner's Cup every single year it was a member of the conference, from 2006-07 to 2016-17. So that doesn't track, at all

They became irrelevant on the national scene across the board under What's His Face.

E8 commish cups, c'mon that's light work, that's child's play. Took until Stevens joined to have anything like real competition. That's not the standard, or it ought not to be anyway.

Two AQs for the worst conferences in D3 like the United East? Gross. Awful. Anti-competitive. Hopefully the proposal fails.

Quote from: ICAlum16 on December 11, 2025, 03:59:11 PMI am hearing that the winds of change are swirling on the South Hill of Ithaca, NY. I don't know anything for certain but I would not be shocked if by next week big changes are announced.

Toerper going to East Hill to be Swanstrom's new DC, I suppose.

I call this the St. Joseph's model, after SJLI and SJBK in the Skyline Conference.

I guess I understand it based on their unbelievable history, but what I find so repellent about the Mount Union fans (except for the late great MUC57 "go everybody!") is their utter joylessness.

None of them seem to even like football. They just want to see the opponent immediately liquefied, and if they're not up 40 by halftime they snarl and foam at the mouth.
