I, of course, want St. John's to win.  By a ton.  I hope the Johnnies win by so much that St. Thomas finally gives up their futile pursuit of meaningful football victories once and for all and disbands their program.  But I don't see it happening.

St. Thomas 34,
St. John's 14

Should be a great day in Collegeville regardless.

GO JOHNNIES!!!
TOMMIES SUCK!!!

Well, obviously, there was no need to bring the trophy to UST, Ryan.

That's not the point. If you lose, you have to give up the trophy. If it is, indeed, a "traveling" trophy.

In all the other trophy games, the "prize" itself goes to the location of the particular game.

Oh my god, shut up already.  We know what a traveling trophy is.  You obviously missed the joke, which wasn't even funny or deserving of multiple posts in the first place.

The fact that there's a traveling trophy I didn't even know about might be the saddest thing I've ever heard.

Much better.

I was on the St. John's Senate when we got together with our St. Thomas counterparts to create the trophy for the 100th anniversary game.  While I thought it was very generous of St. Thomas to pay half the money for a trophy they'd never have, you could tell almost immediately that it would never catch on with the players and fans.

Re: Johnnie coaching brilliance, y'all will have to excuse me--I haven't gotten my issue of Johnnie Groupthink Weekly in the mail yet.  Are we considering Jimmy G a genius or a doofus right now?

If he really did keep all the good plays under wraps against UW-Eau Claire, then it's time to end his nepotistic reign and get a real offensive coordinator because a loss to UWEC really sucks for SJU's postseason chances.  And if he used all the good plays that game and that's all St. John's has against a good defense, well...  Saturday could get ugly.

Clark, what's on the menu for Saturday?  A little PBR action?

This guy is Prince?   ???

You need to purify yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka.  Game... blouses!

(It's Dave Chappelle as Prince, by the way:  http://www.mojvideo.com/video-dave-chappelle-prince/c61de60374b96f1d8671)

TC, certainly you did not intend to leave out the possibility of him showing up as the artist formerly known as TDT?  ;D

Picture one, my friend.  With pancakes!

Easy solution Clark.  Put your $$ where your mouth is as TC suggests.  He wants a friendly and you've been getting very edgy when anyone doesn't speak highly of the Johnnies lately.  You guys square off to see who is correct...

Even the village idiot stumbles upon a gem occasionally...  What do you say, Clark?  If you win, I'll put you and the wife up at my place some Friday night when you fly in to catch a game (I'd call the couch now if I were you, you don't want to wrench your back sleeping on the floor).  When I win, you can have me out to your palatial Marin County estate for a week next summer.

And since you'd never admit to St. John's being an underdog, we don't even need to worry about setting a line--I'll take St. Thomas straight up.

This is a big weekend for usTDT.  Tommie fans hate him because of his alma mater, Johnnie fans hate him because he pisses purple, and neutral fans hate him on principle so I'd imagine he'll show up in some sort of costume.  Everyone will be expecting Barney or Winkey, so be on the lookout for a few more possibilities:

So be on the lookout this Saturday.  He'll often try to approach from the rear in sneaky fashion and engage you in painfully boring conversation about how awesome some food you'd never order was at some restaurant you'd never go to in some town you'll never visit.  Or how soft Fritz Waldvogel's hands are.  AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS.

GO JOHNNIES!!! TOMMIES SUCK!!!

Now that we have that out of the way, does anyone want to offer me a line on the game for a friendly wager?  We could put... oh, I dunno...  a case of a refreshing adult beverage on it?  I'll even take the Tommies, and will take my winnings in PBR.

As far as the last time the Johnnies were underdogs at home, a few games come to mind.  Last year against #15 St. Thomas was pretty close to even (SJU won 20-17 in OT), as was 2007 against #14 St. Olaf (a 30-29 SJU win).  Probably 2004 against #18 Concordia (the Cobbers won 21-20) and almost assuredly 2001 against #5 Bethel (SJU won a squeaker, 34-0).  Maybe UW-Eau Claire and #22 UW-Stevens Point in 2001, too.

Looking back through the past results, St. John's played 15 games in 2000 and only 4 of them were in Collegeville: Augsburg, Macalester, Hamline, and Concordia.  Not a great year to be a Johnnie season ticket holder.

Speaking of Collegeville, I'll be making my triumphant return this Saturday.  You're welcome.

I don't know how much stock I'd put in TDT's food recommendations for your next vacation.  The poor feller couldn't even eat a couple of tailgate brats in Kansas City without puking all over and being on his period for the rest of the week.

On the topic of St. John's not having their schedule and results on this site, I'd also like to point out that they weren't listed at the top of the scoreboard page with the rest of the Top 25 teams last week.  Pat, just because you didn't vote for them and don't care for the program doesn't mean St. John's isn't a Top 25 team.  Pretty classless to let your personal feelings stand in the way of the dissemination of information like that.

In closing,

GO JOHNNIES!!! TOMMIES SUCK!!!

Ha, St. Thomas can't even get fans to show up to their home games.  What makes you think that anyone'd venture to the hell hole that is Wisconsin to watch that team?

Yeah. I'm not sure this is a poster we need anymore.

And Pat shows his pro-Johnnie bias yet again.

Hey tmert, are you familiar with this Gunnar Sandberg kid?  Hope things work out for him.  Yikes.

\BTW, yahoo sends me the temps in Collegeville and MSP on a daily basis.  Up until this past week there has only been a difference of about 10 degrees between them and local temps.  Lately, though, the difference is up to 30 to 35 degrees.

The greater Collegeville area had been unseasonably warm because of all of the hot air coming from VOJ up until about a week ago.
