Your post about recruiting did not have much fact to it. While I see that RMC has brought in some great recruits, I would also like to remind you that Troy Kaase chose HSC over RMC in 2004. That was a great get by Bubba Smith, and one Tony Shaver would of loved to get. I would say that sophmores on the tiger team are one of the very best classes in this league. If you are basing your very unbiasest opinion on the games this year, I think you should be reminded that the tigers lost a 6'8 post who transfered and also another exceptionally strong post because of problems that are not known. These things happen to every coach, including Mike Rhodes and Roy Williams.

Tigerfan, this year has been a rather up down year for the tigers because of the lack of experience and extra players. Don't be so quick to give up on your tigers... who knows what or who they have in their pocket for next year? I am sure they don't intend to leave you disappointed.
As unbiasest as you are you sound like a commentator or something? WEIRD! Surely not?

Jim.... Why because we lost to you? What does that say about the Maroons? You can't beat good teams? IF WE AREN'T AS GOOD AS WE THOUGHT... THEN YOUR WIN MUST BE PRETTY ANTI-CLIMATIC!!! ...But yet they celebrate like they won the national championship?  Anyhow....
Jim, sorry if Steely thought I was threatening you personally, that was not my intention. I associate you with the Maroons and we intend to take care of business in Kirby weather you are there are not, but please come to get the shots! PLEASE!
As for A.J. and the Dowell's I just think you make yourself look silly, trying to drag a kids name into a situation you know so little about. But you are more into making HSC look bad, than knowing when something is proper or not.
As far as HSC goes, has anyone ever heard of a slump? Drew Prehmus has thrown up the same amount of shots he just isn't hitting anything right now. But I can 't wait till he and the rest of the tigers do...... If anyone remembers correctly HSC went to VWC and beat them at home by 12, now to beat them again that same team better show up, but every team goes through this period that's what makes them better. HSC will come out of this, I will feel for the team they play first when we start hitting shots again.

Steely- I have been on this site a lot longer than you know.... I have yet to see to many poster throw jabs like that one. It's one thing to talk about your team, it's another to continue talking about a situation that was was very dishearting for a family, the Dowell's would be embarrassed by Jim's constant badgering (TRUST ME). There are posters on this site that I do truly respect, Jim was one of them, he is not anymore! Jim- I know your feelings are truly hurt,  I will leave the rest of this argument for the tigers to defend.

Roanoke played suprisingly well against the tigers yesterday and of course the tigers played suprisingly bad! Congrats to the Maroons for all our missed shots and lack of hustle>

I think it is so obnoxious of you to continue to bring up A.J. Dowell, it seems like the people that talk the most know the least. I would consider you in that catagory since all you do is snap pictures during games anyways. Just so you know their is a tremendous amount of repsect between the Dowell's and HSC, something you and your lame Roanoke paper know nothing about. Let by- gone's be by-gones, but expect the worst when you come shooting your camera in KIRBY with the fighting Maroons. Grow up and get a life. Nobody else throws snide remarks on here expect for the students on this site. What are you 60 something?

Threes down
I couldn't agree more....
I think this one will be a battle against the guards.

Both teams now have tough guys down under which will have to be stopped, you will have to doubled team Wansley and you will have to double Kaase.
Guards will be left open I am sure Mike will have his team ready!
I will say this Premhus is due a big game. Will see if the tigers can make it happen. I know Smith and his team are well prepared.

IF that is the case then why are you giving me these FACTS! You want the same treatment as HSC by an HSC fan? But you admit yourself there is no comparison. I don't care what BC has done over the past 15 years, if  it doesn't compare to HSC, then what we are discussing. THIS ISN'T EVEN MY ARGUMENT! We are so far off the subject.

Eagleslam, Bridgewater went to the sweet sixteen in 96 that was great, but since then they have had some 17 win seasons and one 19 win season. Why? Like tigerfan said BC has had some great and I mean great players but they have been a few players short of a championship team. Last year HSC went 17-10 with all freshmen and yet that was very abnormal season for HSC! But from your stats a very normal season for BC>  Maybe that is why Algernon was not ready to give your team the benefit of the doubt for this season!

The fact is HSC has had the players to go to Championship games and win. (No gloating intended just facts!) HSC was known to bring in a great freshmen class last year. If I heard that I would naturally believe it were true based on pass seasons. Bridgewater,  although it might not seem fair to you must earn a little more than word of mouth to gain that same respect. That is how most every person on this board looks at our conference.  Why would you expect Algernon to give the Eagles the same treatment, HE IS NOT EVEN A FAN!!!! Just because you say they have some great players?

LIKE I SAID BC HELD THEIR OWN WITH RMC, THEY COULD MORE THAN LIKELY BEAT HSC TOMORROW! IF THEY DO AND THEN CONTINUE TO WIN SOME BIG GAMES WITH CONSISTANCY IN THE TOURNAMENT> then you can get on everybody else and say "I Told you so!"

My how you go on.......
Once again, I never stated that games were based on reputation. I stated that the predicitons of people on this board has a lot to do with past play and seasons. Which is what I would consider a teams reputation on the floor!

Eagleslam, I would hope that B.C is not thinking about HSC's final four trips! That has nothing to do with Saturday's game. No team has the priviledge of riding on a reputation when it comes to game time. Infact having a strong record over the past 10 years makes it that much harder to stay on top. I have no doubt that Bridgewater's gym is a tough place to play (memo: for the tigers- Lynchburg is a tough place to play as well as E&H, Roanoke, EMU, W&L, Guilford, RMC and VWC!) Don't worry the tigers know better than to take any conference game home or away for granted.

I also feel that Coach Leatherman is a good coach. I am sure he has the respect of every coach in this conference. I am not questioning that.

Eagleslam, B.C is a good program and I am sure in the past they have been one of the best if not the best in this conference. But... over the last ten years or even five they have not proven to gain a top three team in this leauge and keep it. Therefore it is hard for them to get the same respect as HSC, RMC, or VWC.
I really don't understand what you are asking for?
All I am saying is the bases for views on this site would naturally be built on a teams reputation over the past five or so years. How can you not a agree with that?
Once again you don't have to reaffirm to the tigers not to take Bridgewater lightly, they know far to well Saturday will be a tough one to come out with.
I do also feel that  Bridgewater came close to RMC and if they beat the tigers and remain steady through this half of the season and into the tournament, more people will be on board with your perspective. I am excited to see what happens over the course of this season.

I still don't think that you understand what I am saying. Obviously a reputation won't score you points, but it will give you the benefit of the doubt as far as the future goes. Naturally, people are going to feel that HSC's young team, just needs some games under it's belt to get going. They brought in some really good players!!!!!! Surely you saw enough games last year to notice that they have some real talent. Do you know how they recruited in that talent..... OFF of their REPUTATION!!!!! Now if you feel that Bridgewater's young team truly has the talent of HSC then maybe they should recieve more respect from Algernon. Maybe Bridgewater will be ranked #19th in the nation next year when they develop as a team a little more!
I am seriously not trying to arrogant about this, but you are refusing to look at the facts. It's okay to be bias about your team, but you can't expect everyone else to have that same postitive outlook. You haven't earned it.
And yes HSC still has a long way to go, with a lot to live up too. I am still not sure that Bridgewater won't come out with it on Saturday.  Our conference is a constant dogfight.
Eagleslam, Since your so intent on comparing the two as equal, you give me your professional opinion. If the Tigers last year played your Eagles this year who would win?

If Bridgewater had the record that HSC has had over the past 10 years than maybe Algernon would be a little more opptimistic. How can you compare the two teams. I really am not trying to be harsh, but if HSC has a bad start to the year naturally one would think things will turn around, because of their record in the past. Just as if Bridgewater football had a bad start to the season, one would think the eagles willl turn this around. Freshman or not. HSC has earned the notion of a more opptimistic view.  Has Bridgewater?
I also feel that NC Weslyan matched up really well with the tigers. They were as big or bigger and much more athletic. We were actually down by 13 or so pts and came back to win. Despite their record they are a good team!
Eagleslam, I think Bridgewater will have a good year despite their set backs!
BUT- For them to finish like they did with the talent they had last year it would be hard for everyone on this board to feel as you and I do. As for the tigers- having RMC down by 16 at the half and then loosing showed lots of future talent with inexperience. Overall a much improved ending to the year.
Eagleslam if your eagles have RMC by 16 in the tournament semis at any point, I will consider that an accomplishment for your young team. And the eagles will gain some more respect on this board. You have to go on facts and reputation not just feelings.
I do feel though, that Bridgewater will give HSC a REAL game on Saturday!
