It's good to see the Cobbs off to a good start this year so far. Back on track, that's for sure and a team that I would not want to play when working on all cylinders. As for this weekend, I can see the Cobbs defense holding steady with the way they have been playing so far. They are a veteran group of guys, all who have played for over a year. I see them holding Bethel to under 21, but it's always a tough game between the Cobbs and Royals. As for the offense, when they are clicking (like they have been so far), they are one of the hardest teams to stop. With a passing game, there is no telling what amount of points they could put up each game. The O-line is top notch, and the back are ridiculous. The quarterback situation is still a bit confusing, and I don't like the fact that he switches Nelson and Larson in as much as he does. Although, it has seemed to be working, we'll see what Horan does this weekend. He's a mastermind with things like that, so it's usually good to trust whatever he does. As for my prediction, I can see the Cobbers taking the game 28-14. Good luck to all MIAC teams this weekend...and let the fun begin.

Good win for the Johnnies today. It would have been sweet to see the Johnnie/Royal game this next weekend but the Johnnies get revenge against the Warhawks! Take it to 'em and keep representing the MIAC the way that you have been so far in the playoffs. Whitewater can be beat, that's for sure!

Good win for the Johnnies today...what happened in the Bethel game? They were winning by 7 and all of a sudden they were down by 7. How'd the 14 point swing happen?

Carl: I don't believe that the MIAC was down this year, I actually thought it was a bit better than usual. Most of the teams presented challenges unlike previous years when alot of prepping wasn't needed for particular teams. I know others may disagree with me, but it seemed as if not a single game got any easier this year being a Cobber and that's probably because we weren't where we wanted to be and because we struggled most of the year. Let me know what you all think as well about the MIAC. But, my overall thought was that alot of the teams improved this year compared to years past or last year.

MVP - Porta --> best running back in the league behind an enormous and excellent offensive line
Stam - Ledyard --> representing d3 in the aztec bowl and sack leader in the MIAC
Coach - Johnson --> what he has done there with that team, definitely deserves coach of the year
congrats to Ledyard for being selected to play in the Aztec bowl down in Mexico. he's a great d-lineman and the way he plays and his stats definitely show!
fins - tough year up here in cobberville. we found out what it was like not to have schumacher behind center. he was definitely the ONE guy that made us go every game. the offense could never get going and it didn't help that we were switching quarterbacks every week, but the coaches were trying to spark something. the defense was young in the secondary and it seemed to show every once and a while. put it this way, they will be tough in the upcoming years becuase there will be alot of experience at most positions. cory johnson is still an exciting player to watch and he will have a great junior and senior year. look for the cobbers to reclaim their position in the conference and be right up there with bethel and SJU. go johnnies and royals!

Greenbayguy,
To also comment on your question about the Cobb offensive line, they should be very tough as usual. Being a hogger that just ended a career, they do have a few backups that should continue to make the line tough and rugged. As we all know, the Cobber line loves to play hardnosed, smash mouth football and I don't see there being any difference in the upcoming few years. Like CC Backer said, we have 2 starting tackles coming back and a 3rd that rotated in most of the year. All three are very talented tackles: good hands, good feet and tough players. One guard spot will be open for sure, and hopefully one guard will return (this will be known soon as he is trying to get another year of eligibility back after his first year at a different college). If he comes back, he has the possibility of being an All American. Very tough, excellent lineman!
The offensive line coach is definitely one of the best at his position. He knows the game inside out and really loves the fact that his hoggers can pound the ball and move it all around the field. It will be hard not playing for him anymore. Anyways, good luck to both the Johnnies and Royals. Royals will have a tough game come Saturday, but I have no doubt that they can't pull out a victory. And being involved last year and the year before in games against the IIAC, I have never been too impressed, so I do see the Johnnies handling Central and making it to at least a second game in the playoffs. Either way, good luck and represent the MIAC! Get the job done and let's see a SJU-Royal matchup for the West bracket championship!

I wish both SJU and Bethel the best in the playoffs! They are both quality teams that play with alot of class and play the game the right way. This is the time of the year that we all cheer for the MIAC, and hope that whatever teams are in the playoffs can show what we are made of. Good luck and play for the rest of us back here in Minnesota that weren't as fortunate to make it to the "big show"
