Anyone paying attention to Trinity football recognized this Tebow-esque QB was part of almost every aspect of the game.  A ubiquitous special teams player, a sideline leader, and still the occasional QB.  He helmed the team for an entire quarter late in the season using his brain and legs.

So glad to hear from this fine man.

They won this by 4 seconds.

Trinity's Adam Knutson selected by the coaches as the DIII Player of the Year.

Saw this coming from his freshman year.  Incredible ball skills, pitch awareness, and selfless play.

None finer and the coaches agree.

Well done, Adam!

Franklin County Firefighters Help Trinity U Soccer Team After Bus Slid off Roadway

QuoteMembers of the Snow Creek Volunteer Fire Department assisted soccer players from Trinity University after their team bus slid off the roadway on Monday, December 8.

The men's team had just finished runner-up on Sunday to Tufts University in the NCAA Division III National Championship held at Donald J Kerr Stadium in Salem.

Firefighters transported the team and staff to the station in Pinhook "in order to get the tour bus off the mountain and back down to safety," according to the Facebook post.

Fortunately, the photos in the story suggest no one was hurt.

If the team was low after the loss, I bet this helped keep things in perspective.  They are a fine bunch.

Quote from: Ron Boerger on December 07, 2025, 03:59:41 PMA devastatingly ****ty weekend for Trinity athletics.  As previously noted, the women VBers lost in the Final Four, the football team lost, and today the men's soccer team suffers a tying goal with FOUR SECONDS LEFT and then, understandably crushed, lose the championship to #1 Tufts in OT.

I was sad when I checked in on the men's soccer score and saw it happen in OT. Stinks we lost but still made it to the natty, at least!

Ladies soccer dropped in OT this year in the playoffs too. Throw in the Volleyball losing in the final 4, to the national champs, and with football stubbing their toe, I'm still happy to see so many Tiger sport programs at Trinity be on the national stage and competing deep into their respective brackets.

Men's BBall is ranked and doing well too! So is cross country. Interesting to see how Trinity ranks across the board for fall sports. True "Student" athletes

Wish for football sake, that the committee wouldn't have thrown all of R3 into the same pod, with 4/5 in one sub bracket. Would've been neat to see how the region matched up against other regions.

Hear, hear!  Easy to overlook to incredible success across all athletic programs at Trinity.  The "4 second" loss was a body blow and should serve as serious motivation next year.  Onward!

Quote from: Ron Boerger on December 08, 2025, 08:59:59 AMAs possibly the only Trinity(TX) supporter that ever posts here, I can't imagine how those kids felt when that shot went in.  This was a team virtually nobody gave a chance to even make the final four and for 89:55 a championship was right there.  Kudos to Tufts for pushing to the end and literally pulling it out in the final seconds, but kudos as well to McGinlay and everyone on that team for making it there.

And yes, my wife did ask me if everything was OK after I screamed in frustration and despair myself.

With you, Ron.

Only two attempts for Huerta is inexplicable.  Only he had the size and strength to challenge a line like Berry's.

He should have been the go-to back all season. Instead, Trinity rotated backs continuously not allowing any of them to get into the groove. A real head shaker.

10 yards rushing?  I wasn't able to watch the game.  Is that right?

10 yards rushing?!

Quote from: Ron Boerger on December 06, 2025, 09:50:37 AMInteresting USA Today interview with Coach Urban and the staff at Penn:  "Part 3 of a series that looks behind the curtain of college recruiting. USA TODAY Sports was granted behind-the-scenes access by the football staff at the University of Pennsylvania, a Division I program that offers a high academic profile but no Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) money or scholarships. We also conducted a phone interview with Jerheme Urban, a former NFL wide receiver who is now the head football coach at Trinity University, a high athletic and academic Division III liberal arts school in San Antonio.".  It doesn't seem to be paywalled but you may have to turn off your ad blocker:  https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2025/12/06/how-to-get-recruited-ivy-penn-trinity-football/87634917007/

Thanks, Ron.  Nice article.

Quote from: D3Navy on December 03, 2025, 09:55:12 PMFor those interested, the Trinity and Berry women's volleyball teams are representing the SAA very well.  Both are in the final four of the NCAA championship and could meet in the final.

Well done, ladies!

I felt some judgment during lunch yesterday because I had my phone out watching TU's match...

Alas, the remarkable season is over.  They seemed understandably spent after yesterday's match.

"St. Olaf has been almost Tufts' equal, but their bad 4-1 stumble against Macalester in the MIAC championship game stands out. Perhaps it woke them up,..."

Interesting that Trinity also had a "stumble" in their conference championship game.  It seems clear that it was a motivating factor as they've plowed through to the semis.

Quote from: Ron Boerger on December 02, 2025, 11:01:05 AMA light weekend overall for the SAA.  Trinity moves to 6-1 with a closer-than-it-needed-to-be home win against HSU; after trailing by 19 at the break, the Cowboys closed to 3 after shutting down the Tigers' three-point shooting before two techs on the HSU bench helped the Tigers escape, 81-73.  Leading scorer Dylan Walker was on crutches and did not play for Trinity.

Millsaps (5-1) surprsingly suffered their first loss of the season at formerly winless University of the Ozarks (1-6), 78-76.  After the Eagles took the lead with 1:18 to play, the Majors had no fewer than three chances to tie the game; the first was blocked, the second (after a steal with 27 seconds left) was missed, and after Ozarks missed the front half of a 1-and-1, Millsaps missed a layup with one second left.  The Majors also missed nearly half (12) of their 28 free throws.

Rhodes (5-2) also suffered its first losses of the season at the WashU tournament, to #7 Chicago (5-1) 84-70 and homestanding #4 WashU (6-0) 94-78.

Centre moved to 5-1 with a 69-66 home win against Spalding (3-2).  The visitors closed to within one with just over a minute to play, but despite forcing two Colonel turnovers and benefiting from a missed one-and-one, Spalding was unable to close the gap.

Southwestern (4-1) matched their win total of the last two seasons combined after a 71-63 win at home over struggling ETBU (2-6) in which the Tigers could not get closer than six in the last ten minutes.

Oglethorpe - who I incorrectly credited with on one win last week - lost 104-96 at home to Greensboro (2-3), moving to 2-4.  Sewanee's season from hell (where they join the equally winless Trinity women) continued with a 80-69 home loss to Berea (3-3), dropping them to 0-6.

Big games coming up the week include Trinity at their nemesis (RV, "#26") St. Thomas (5-1) and Berry at #9 Emory (3-1).

Terrific rundown, Ron!  Thanks.

Quote from: Etchglow on November 23, 2025, 09:39:40 PMSince I was bored, I went and looked at the folks who have announced they were transferring from UMHB.  Only 9 of the 29 have offers.  7 of the offers are D3, 3 are NAIA, 2 are FCS, and 1 is for a community college.

Yup. Some of the guys I'm not mad at. The JV guys that saw the writing on the wall and just want to play somewhere, no problem. Then you have a guy like D Morris who likely lands on a good FCS or a low end FBS roster, I still don't like it but it's somewhat understandable. JJ Davis probably lands on a mid to low end FCS... I kind of get it but still think it's a mistake. Then you have guys like Battle III that had no business transferring out. Could have stayed and been a damn good corner on a really good defense but instead he jumped on the portal wagon after D Mo and JJ did and he's got no offers. Not saying he's not good enough to get offers but he doesn't have the same body of work yet as Morris or Davis did.. reminds me a lot of Dorien Hill playing 4 games last year in the playoffs and hitting the portal. He showed a ton of promise and might've been our best LB if he had returned this season but instead he hit the portal and got East Central and Trinity and went to Trinity.. that's basically Battle this year... maybe he will come back.

On the positive side of things it looks like we've kept everyone else so far. If that's all we lose we return a way more cohesive group than we have in a few years and will just need to find a few secondary guys to step up.

You got BJ Stewart, we got Dorien Hill.  Both fine athletes who found better fits.

Quote from: Kuiper on November 23, 2025, 02:21:48 PMUPDATE:  Trinity 1 - Augsburg 0 (16th minute)

Trinity has been controlling possession.  Adam Knutsen was fouled in the center of the field as he was pushing the ball forward.  Julian Lopez's free kick was blocked, but Knutsen got a hold of the rebound and shot it past the Augsburg goal for the 1-0 lead.

UPDATE:  Trinity 2 - Augsburg (38th minute)

Just as Augsburg was starting to grow into the game, Trinity started a counter-attack leading to a cross from the right side that was cut off by an Augsburg for an own goal.  If he hadn't intervened though, there was a Trinity attacker on the far post who would have put it in anyway.

HALF:  Trinity 2 - Augsburg 0

The first Trinity goal was a play for Knutson that worked perfectly.  Watch for about 30 seconds before the kick as Knutson sizes up the goalie and then the Augsburg line.  Knutson lines up facing the goal with the kicker directly behind him.  Ball kicked into the line goes off two Auggie players and Knutson pounces and strikes the goal.

Next level stuff!
