The officiating in the SLIAC has never been the best that you are going to find.  However, one thing that I can say is that it is usually consitantly bad.  One positive thing that FU can bring out of last night's game is that if you ask anyone of the Griffins who played last night, I can almost guarentee you that he will not blame the officiating for almost losing a lead.  Heck, if anything, letting the players play physical does nothing but benefit guys like Storandt and Fogerty, who like to get in there and bang.

A side note, I wasn't able to attend the game last night but I heard that senior Chad Fourne had a well played game.  I'll be the first to congratulate Chad on a good game.  Chad came to Fontbonne as a sophomore transfer from Mascoutah Junior College, and was thrown into the point guard position.  He will be the first to tell you that he struggled a bit.  But instead of getting down and quitting, Chad has totally transformed his game by hitting the weights and the gym atleast two extra hours daily (and this is outside of practice).  Without Chad Fourne as their spark plug, this Griffins team isn't 10-3!!

Tough one for the Griffins tonight.  Congrats to Webster, they played one of the best games I've seen a team play in awhile....shot lights out in the first half....exact opposite of the Griffins.  FU came out flat and was never able to recover.  It's still early though...it is Dec. 5.   Stat of the night...Justin Storandt 3-5.....in order for FU to be successful this year the big men are going to have to get some touches!

(mens)fontbonne vs. webster in basketball in my opinion is one of the biggest rivalries in the sliac in all sports...men and women both.  just a fan wanting to see my griffins do well.

according to buncherrific fontbonnes schedule is plenty tough enough......3-4  sounds to me like fu better keep he schedule as is.
just a side note.....i hope i have the energy that lee mac has when i reach his age someday! he is constantly up and down the court during practice!

It's just about ten days until FU travels to Chicago for the Moody Bible Classic, where they have William Penn University in the first round of the tournament.  This is the year the Griffins have everyone in the conference gunning for them after their conference tournament victory last season....but that was last season, this is this year!!  In all reality, FU could be 6-1 going into the Christmas tournament out in California....FCNews when was the last time FU did that?

The key for this year's team is McCoy, if he shoots the way he is capable of then this team is going to be hard to beat.....last year was a little bit of a down year for him as far as field goal percentage goes, but I look for his percentage to be higher this year.

With Parker's return, where does he fit in?? You're looking at a guy who can handle it, so he can play the 1.  He can shoot it, so he can play the 2, and he is athletic enough, in my opinion, to be a force in the SLIAC at the 3 spot.

From what I have seen so far this season, this may be the deepest bench Lee Mac has had in a few seasons.  There are a couple of young guards who are hard nose, and then ofcourse you have the 33 years young Terrance Lovett coming off the bench also!

Can you tell I'm ready for some basketball?!

just because you have a tough non schedule doesnt guarentee victories come conference time....sometimes it can have even the opposite effect....i may be wrong...but just my opinion.

Haven't been on the board for awhile!  Had a good convo with Fcnews at the men's practice today.  FU has it's annual Late Night With Lee McKinney this friday!  Looks to me that this year's team is in better shape this year, than last year at this time.  you can tell some of the bigger guys have spent some quality time hitting the weights this off season. ......Still a little questionable on how Parker's return will be handled????

I think that this is a good draw for the Griffins.  Has a SLIAC team ever won their first round game in the NCAA tournament???  Expect a big crowd over at Wash U. this Friday night!!!
