Quote from: OzJohnnie on September 07, 2026, 01:29:12 AMThe grass has been painted for Thursday night's/Friday morning's Rams v 49ers game at the MCG.  The G is a barn.  I wonder how they'll work the camera angles to stops the field from looking like a little grid in the middle of a giant paddock.

Are you going to be there Oz?

Quote from: Mister36 on September 20, 2025, 12:21:01 PMMatt Jung is starting today for Wisconsin!

NBC honored this by saying he won the Small College defensive player of the year aware, out of Bethel College (KS)

Way to go guys!

My 'sconnie buddy says it's only 31
Wisconsin should fire Fickell...but he's got a $40 buyout.

Quote from: sjujohnnie on September 17, 2025, 09:52:24 PMI will miss listening to the Johnnie radio coverage. If past meetings are any indication, Hamline will pose little more of a threat than Minnesota-Morris did. Will be interesting to see if either of our QBs gets any separation from the other. Looking at other Division III matchups, No. 16 Whitewater travels to Belton to take on No 6 UMHB at their Cruthedral and No. 3 Johns Hopkins travels to No. 4 Susquehanna.

I listen to Johnnie Radio on AM1550 by using the TuneIn Radio app and mute the video.  Then I've got the best possible Johnnie road game experience.

To be honest what I miss is listening to the Johnnie games 20 years ago and following on the D3 game threads and interacting with others.  the live stream really does nothing for me.

Quote from: art76 on June 24, 2025, 09:12:14 AMInitial Team Standings about IREC teams from ESRA. Some schools from Australia took home some bling, as did the U of MN. Sorry, I don't remember which team you had some affiliation with Oz. Complete list here: https://www.soundingrocket.org/news1

The Aussies did all right.  I scanned the list of schools in the registration spreadsheet and didn't see BU.  Is this the comp your squad participates in?

My two youngest are still attending Monash University, and the eldest graduated from the University of Melbourne. Not one of them is close to rocketry. As they freely tell me, they're not nerds like their old man. Well, this old nerd loved model rockets (regretting only that he didn't have collegiate rocket competition experience), and he did alright for them.

BU was forced to drop out of this competition from lack of funds back in January. It costs a lot to send even half a dozen students half-way across the country for a full week. It's got to be that much more to send students overseas via commercial airline - oof-da! We're still awaiting word on how we did in the regional competition, which happens to be held here in MN, so travel costs are quite a bit more manageable. As I hear more, I'll share.

What does it cost to send 70 football players around Minnesota 6 times a year?  Figure out the other sports on your own.

I'm getting kind of old, but wasn't there a couple of teams on the west coast that used to be relevant?

espn is a sub of disney, and they want to squash a lot of things.

Quote from: DuffMan on November 30, 2024, 06:04:03 PMWait, was there another middle finger salute?!?  First SNC, now UW-Laxative?

A recurring Wiscy theme?

Quote from: OzJohnnie on November 24, 2024, 04:49:10 PMWow.  I thought that was going to be the most Vikings game ever since the last most Vikings game ever.  But it was not.  It appears the Vikes are saving that performance for the post-season.

It was a very "Viking" game.

I refuse anything to ESPN/Disney.

Quote from: DuffMan on September 18, 2024, 02:32:01 PMThere's a good article on SJU's Will Blakey (or Blakely, if you prefer  ) on the front page, for those of you that don't frequent it.

The old man in the backfield

Ernie England on the '76 team had four years in the Air Force

Congrats Art, if my bride and myself were to have a 40th, we will be 90, I don't foresee Alaska (God's Country) to be on the agenda.

What day is that Oz?

Do I see a newly named "one teated cow" on the board?

Quote from: OzJohnnie on April 28, 2024, 07:52:50 PMOn Thursday morning, #2 and I went to the dawn service at the War Memorial for ANZAC Day (Australia and New Zealand's joint Memorial Day).  Apparently, 40k people were there.  It didn't seem like that many to me, but it was pretty dark, as you can see, and we were close to the front of the crowd.

So we're standing in the cold and dark at 5:15am waiting for the service to begin and the day's schedule flashes up on a screen.  #2 asks, "Uh, this isn't the servicemen's parade?"

"No," I chuckle. "You clearly said last night that you wanted to go to the dawn service."

"I thought that was the parade.  Doh."

"Well, now you can say you've been to the dawn service.  Not a complete loss."

We saw that when we were in Melbourne, impressive Memorial.

Quote from: OzJohnnie on April 08, 2024, 11:01:31 PMThat's a nice looking bike.  And some beatiful countryside for you Vegas ride.

Also, you're always welcome to visit Aus, of course.  I would love the opportunity to show you or anyone from these boards (even snoopdawg) a nice night out in Melbourne.

I'll vouch for Oz's statement, my wife and I were there, gulp, seven years ago and had a great evening with him and his bride.
