JGav will be with me so if you need any input on shooting highlights we will be in prime "suggestion offering" shape

Knock Knock. Anyone around? Hope to see a lot of Knights up north this weekend.

WH, just look for the chubby former olineman with the camera on his shoulder.  While I have shot sideline football highlights from SE MN high schools to Packer games and everything in between, this will be the first time shooting Wartburg Football highlights.  Luckily the temps will be MUCH warmer this weekend then end of December night games at Lambeau field.

GO KNIGHTS!

I am sure his main input will be "Don't get run over by a ref." and I can only assume you want me to make sure and get those fine looking guys up front on the o-line in the highlights.

For the first time in my IIAC life, I'm a Wartburg fan!  Go Knights!

Not so bad is it?

I think Central should be in the playoffs with the 8-2 record. Yes, it was a tough loss to Monmouth early on, but they hung with 10-0 Wartburg in their only other loss.  Let's hope we can start to get two IIAC teams in the playoffs in the future.

I didn't see this til just now, but, um, no.  Not even close.  Two losses gets you uninvited from the dance unless you have one or more of the following:

a) a regional ranking
b) a big SOS
c) a couple of regionally-ranked wins
d) in the absence of C, genuinely close/competitive losses to regionally-ranked opponents

Central was not even regionally ranked.  The other teams on the Pool C board at the end included Framingham State (#4 in the East), North Central (#6 in the North), probably UW-Oshkosh, and who knows from the South.  Central is not even close to getting in over any of those teams.  Please go read the Pool C thread for awhile.

Central couldn't even get in before Monmouth, which beat Central head-to-head and was also 8-2.

I stand corrected.  I probably should have typed "I wish Central was in the playoffs at 8-2".  I honestly didn't look at all factors or even read the Pool C thread at all, just giving my opinion which is heavily biased towards the Iowa Conference when it comes to post season action.

It seems the video presentations around the Conference are sub-par.  Several games I tried to access were limp.

Does the conference have an agreement with some provider or is it just individual schools doing the best they can?   WARTBURG and UD seem to do the best job IMHO.

I am pretty sure there is no agreement among the IIAC and a provider.  Most schools use Stretch Internet for the feed and I know that Wartburg uses Livestream.  It really comes down to how much the individual schools decide to invest in quality of cameras and broadcasting equipment.

This is the best Wartburg team I have seen. That offense is just crazy explosive, and the defends seems to feed off of their energy. I really think they have a shot to make a deep run.

These kids are good, but I'm still saying the 1999 and 2003 regular season undefeated teams were better.

Before Saturday I was saying the same thing (of course a bit biased with the 2003 team).  If you look at the stats after the first 7 games; 2003 (289 points scored 67 points allowed) 2014 (288 points scored 58 points allowed).

From the limited times I have seen this team play in person, the game Saturday against Luther was probably the most complete.  Solid offense, great defense and special teams (each scoring for the first time this year).  While this year's team is closer to being as good as '99 and '03, there are still lots of games left plus we will have to see how they perform in the post season.

Well I picked half of the games right (Wartburg and Central winning).  Looks like Coe was not happy getting shut out by Wartburg last week.  Wartburg looked impressive, big plays all day long.  Here are highlights for anyone interested:

Not sure what is up with Luther, but it will be tough for them to win games if they keep allowing 47+ points to IIAC schools.  It will be interesting to see how "Beat Luther" week goes on campus with fall break this Thursday and Friday and how much student support shows up on Saturday.  Looking forward to another big win for the Knights, but from a former Spring Grove Lion it is also fine by me if Luther's Elton and Olerud have themselves a good game....just not a win.

interesting match ups this week:
Dubuque vs Wartburg
Luther vs Buena Vista
Coe vs Simpson
and Loras vs Central

Thoughts/predictions?
Wartburg
Buena Vista
Simpson
Central

I am basing most of this on what I have read on here and/or stories on athletic websites as I have not seen anyone but Wartburg in action this year:

Wartburg
Luther
Simpson
Central

Just popping back in after a way too long if an abscence. Very pleased with Wartburg's performance this year. Very puzzled with Central's. Any ideas why?

Any Wartburg old timers going to be around for the Wartburg/Dubuque game?  My sons football season will be over by then and my daughter is demanding I take her to another game in Waverly!

I will be around for the big Homecoming game between the Knights/Spartans.  I had to leave shortly after the start of Bethel for my brother's wedding and watched some of the Stout game in between rain drops.  Pre-game events look unlikely as I am sure technical issues will need to be resolved for the live stream, but then I hope to watch most of the game from the endzone with AEN if he is around.  I am looking forward to the seeing the "new" UD football team as things have definitely changed since the early 2000's.  After the game, the plan is to enjoy an ice cold beverage or two and celebrate a Knight victory.

I am interested to see how Dubuque does against UW-Platteville.  I only watched a little bit of the scrimmage (not the same as a game, but still get to see a team's intensity) when Platteville came to Waverly and the Pioneers looked really good.  Typically UW-L is not as strong as the rest of the WIAC, but with former Wartburg fellas like Dettwiler and Hoskins on the coaching staff, things HAVE to turn around for the Eagles right?

Good luck to everyone in the IIAC again.  Let's see a sweep this week!

Unlike Doolittle who is on "retirement" from the boards, I was just on sabbatical since my previous job kept me too busy during football season to keep up the past few years.  But now that I am back in the land of orange and black I hope to keep better tabs on the Knights athletic teams and other IIAC schools.  Due to my absence on the board these past few years, I won't have much to say until I get familiarized with everything.

However, I do agree hazzben that you have to chuckle a little at staged pics.  I especially liked the one with 3 guys in jeans "catching a ball" from the quarterback.  Good luck to all of the IIAC teams this season.

Any word on Luther and St. Olaf?  Didn't see the results on their teams website.

With losses by Simpson, Loras, BV, Cornell, doesn't look like my IIAC sweep in the pick 'em is going well.

Although if Luther won and wins tonight by Coe and Wartburg, that would put us at 5-4 for week 1.  Good luck to the Kohawks and Knights!
