Sloppy game for the Oles.  Offense put up a ton of points, but the D struggled at times today.  The Cobbs offense played better than I expected, and their defense struggles just as much as the Oles' did...
As for the "controversy" around the 2-point conv. ...
I was standing in the back of the endzone where the cobbs were trying to score in, and the helmet of the ball carrier was on the line when his head hit the ground.  He had the ball tucked into his midsection at that point, and it was NOT over the plane of the goal line.  Conversion was no good.
Glad to see the Oles are keeping the playoff dreams alive.  HUGE week coming up for them.  They need to stay tough through Bethel week.  I have faith that they can keep the train rolling.

I was at the side of the endzone. Right on the goal line. The official that had been missing calls for us and making up a personal foul said "the ball crossed but his knee was down before". The problem I have with that is he was on top of the pile. Perhaps forward motion? But no, he went with the knee thing.

I have never seen a ref overturn another one one three separate occasions. Anyone see Olaf's last TD when there was a blatant block in the back on the 5? If you weren't there, it was a breakaway and one man left to beat... he squares up, and gets popped from behind with the line judge 3 yards away watching it. Seriously now.

I was really impressed with the Cobs offense today. I was kind of upset Deonte Hutchins was out.

correction, not MAC... GFC. My mistake!

I'm a huge NDSU fan and I looked at the Massey ratings and didn't find the Bison. I found UND (North Dakota). Any reason for this??

The beautiful thing about FCS football, not unlike D3, is the nonsense of a poll. Sure it feels good to be ranked as a team but when there is a playoff for a national champion, they seem to not matter in the postseason. That being said, NDSU may be ranked highly but next year when they join the MAC conference (undisputedly better than GWC) they will have tougher competition. But Craig Bohl is the man.

Hey oles... we're coming up friday night to visit ole and lina. Any of you interested in a little pre-game festivities??? Just ask the jonnies... we're a fun group of classy guys!

Wow.

I don't think I've posted since the game, but it was nice to meet those Cobbers that I met--Cobbernation, Maroon & Gold, Horan's Heros, CC Backer, thanks for showing up and enjoying the pre-game with us!  What a beautiful day it was!

As for the game...WOW!  I hope the boys can play like that the rest of the year.  They will be tough to beat.

Nice to meet with you all too! I wish I had room in my belly for one of those famous burgers.

Do any of you Cobbers who are coming to the game on Saturday have any friends who grow sweet corn?
If you do, and can bring several dozen, I'll bring my cooker and boil 'em up for us. Just want y'all to feel at home.  ;)

Goes great with koolaid!

Hey let me know what the deal is, I will be coming Friday night to do the St. Joseph pub crawl and then intend on being impressed with  the "Stiftungsfestivities"  that is if the Cobber Nation is invited?

You really have to read the previous posts man. We've been invited... and we are going.

Hey Johnnies...

Have to say as an avid Cobber fan who is trying to start some student traditions among other fellow cobbers.... your website is pretty cool. In fact, so cool I may even decide to take the diea and use it myself. hmm...

Wow, this board is dead today!

Cobbers, what's with this passing game that Horan has been using?  That's not the Cobber football that we're used to.

Is he just utilizing the talents of the players he has this year, or do you think this is a shift in Horan's philosophy?

Definately using strengths. Nelson came from a State Champion high school (Minntka). He brings two threats: The ability to find the open guy and the sense to know when it's time to run/throw it away/eat it. It's really easy for teams to scout the cobbers when they constantly run the option offense and throw on second or third and long. But when they call a deep pattern and complete on first down, it's harder to prepare for it.

Thanks a lot for the responses. I'm really looking forward to a great time saturday and even more to a good football game. In my three years of CC vs. SJU, It has proven to be a good matchup.

I like hanging out with my dad. Better yet... my buddies' dads. But that's fine. I'd love to settle for a sweet burger.

(adult beverages ok?)

I will definitely be there for the tailgating. What about friday night? The boys from Cobber Nation are coming up after class friday and want to see what Collegeville has to offer during the nightlife. Any suggestions?? Better yet, anyone want to take the lead and show us the ropes?

Where are you staying Friday night? There's a Super 8 in St. Joe that's convenient and an AmericInn in Avon that's also convenient, but less so.

St. Joe:
• Sal's is on Minnesota and is a favorite student bar
• The LaPlayette is on College Ave and is the other student hangout
• Loso's (The Midi) is between the two on Minnesota and is more of a townie bar
• The American Legion is on Minnesota between Loso's and Sal's and is...the Legion
• The El Paso is off County 75 just west of "downtown" St. Joe and is more of a townie bar

Avon:
• The Liquor Locker is across the street from the hotel
• I've never consumed a drink at a bar in Avon before so someone else will have to recommend spots

St. Cloud:
• The Red Carpet downtown is a young person favorite, but I never went there
• Downtown has many other establishments, but my friends and I stuck with St. Joe because St. Ben's is right there of the free bus back to St. John's

Enjoy!

We are staying on campus with a buddy. What I'm really interested in is where you all are gonna be. I'd rather chill with you guys!

Cobber fans, we hope you can join us for the Stiftungsfestivities this Saturday in Collegeville when the Cobbers come to town. The tailgate party is located in the parking lot above the scoreboard end of the field. We are usually there around 9:00 a.m. with the grills going by 10:30. Bring a culinary delight to share if you like.

We will have a few country western cds playing to help make you feel at home. ;)

Johnnies Suck...word out of Moorhead is that the Cobbs are now gonna use 4 qb's this weekend!  can you believe it? 4!

I think that's a bold move saying you're gonna put in your third and fourth stringers implying the cobs will be that far ahead. ;)

4 offensive starters, 2 defensive starters, kicker.
QB Penz was a FY on bench.  As well as many other FY there in the action

Way to early in the season to be hyping a Oct 6 matchup. No doubt it will be big for playoff implications. The MIAC still has good teams in Bethel and CC. I'm my honest opinion, there are four contenders for the MIAC title (to be brutally honest, favoring jonnies). Say Olaf beats sju... then they have to get through bethel and cc. Same with any other contending team. There isn't going to be one big game that decides the MIAC. It's gonna take the team who competes at the highest level against all of the talented teams.
