At least there was no Dr. Pepper involved.... Think those commercials have been aired enough through out the day of football on ABC/ESPN? haha

I was thinking of typing a response to what Ric said... but he pretty much said it all!

Pat,
I am not sure... Maybe because of the level of the game it will be a better atmosphere, but a few years ago when I was at Mount and we had ESPN's Cold Pizza do their live show on campus, there was a pretty good group in the stands and that started at 6am and it was not nearly as recognized of a show. With a show like Game Day that most students probably wake up to on campus (or at least I know in our room we did haha), I really think that it would be a packed house... I think the one thing holding it back, and nothing against them, would be the opponent that day. But, again when Cold Pizza came, it was the day for the last game of the season, and it was Heidelberg that MUC was playing that day. Either way, it's great for Division III and I am sure it will be a great game up in Williamstown.

Great to see ESPN coming to a Division 3 School.. should be a great atmosphere. A little bummed out that it is not at Mount Union, because I think that would have been a pretty cool thing for them to do, and even though its not a rival game, the shutout streak is still impressive. Maybe during the playoffs... or there is always next year!

E-mail sent to the guy who wrote the bogus ESPN column about MUC running up the score...
Mr. Easterbook,
My name is Brandon Stewart and I am a 2005 graduate of Mount Union College. I was the radio play-by-play guy for our campus radio station for 3 years for the football team. I have to disagree with your point about Mount Union running up the score on opponents. Here is why...
First, the score at the half of the game against Heidelberg was 35-3 at halftime. Heidelberg is now coached by an MUC grad, and they recentley won their first game in four years to start this season. It is a team that is improved, not saying they were going to come back, but Mount Union also plays undefeated Ohio Northern, a team who beat them two seasons ago, on the road next week and did not want the starters to not be up for that game by resting too much last week. Also, late in the game, Mount Union had plenty of chances to score again from inside the five yard line and opted to kick field goals on three occasions that would have been no doubt touchdowns. That is taking nine points instead of 21 points, how is that running up the score?
Going back to week one, Mount Union scored 52 points in the first quarter. The first play from scrimmage was a run straight up the middle that the defense did not stop and it went for a 65 yard touchdown run. They scored 52 in the first, and 75 for the game... You have to look at that in prespective and see how bad it COULD have been if MUC was really running up the score.
I have watched Mount Union games in which the score has been even closer, and they have opted not to score, so much to the point where guys run out of bounds when there is no defender in site. I think you are looking at just the number on the scoreboard and while that may be lopsided you need to take a deeper look into the numbers and look at what COULD have been if they were really running up the score.
It is pretty sad that the only national attention MUC gets is for supposedly running up the score. Forget the 55 and 54 game winning streaks, the nine national titles, and currently the second longest winning streak in all of college football.

Hey everyone, just wanted to say thanks to Ric and the coach for letting me fill in today on the radio side. It had been a while since I got to do a MUC game on the air and it def brought back some memories from the WRMU Days. Thanks again and congrats to Kmic on breaking the record.
