Quote from: Seatfiller on February 28, 2026, 10:30:24 PMRC won the ODAC against RMC...I think I'm still in shock to be honest.

RMC had a three point lead (58-55) and the ball with about 35 seconds left. After a Roanoke time out the Maroons fouled on the inbound pass. Jabril Robinson missed the front end of a one-and-one, RC got the rebound and scored. They fouled again on the inbound and Liam Joyce missed the front end. RC got the rebound and scored again to lead 59-58 with 8.1 seconds left. RMC's Delani Hammonds drove the length of the floor, was well defended, put up a wild shot from the left side of the basket that wasn't close. Kudos to the Maroons. That is exactly what you hope for in that situation. It doesn't always work out that way, but this time it did. Remember RMC only beat Roanoke by five points in Crenshaw earlier in the season.

Congrats to the Jackets on a great regular season and ODAC tournament. Only three losses by a total of four points is pretty impressive. Best of luck in the NCAA tournament.
As you all know, you have to make FTs in clutch situations, especially the front end of a 1 and 1.  Congratulations to the Maroons.  I hope RC and RMS both do well in the NCAA tournament.

That part about Averett leasing another chair is a quality wisecrack, Hasanova.

Ha.  Thanks for noticing, Tigerfan.  I pride myself on thinly veiled sarcasm.

If Guilford and Averett both win on Feb. 21, they'll be 8-8.  Since GC won both H2H games, GC 7th and AU 8th.  Same if they both lose - they'll finish 7-9, but, again, GC has the H2H tie-breaker. If GC wins and AU loses, then the Quakers would be 7th at 8-8 and AU 8th at 7-9.

Of the 4 possibilities on Feb. 21, the only one that favors AU is a Cougars win (8-8) and a Quakers loss (7-9).  A game vs RMC or VWU is in the balance (is Roanoke still in the running for 1 or 2 spot?).

Quote from: y_jack_lok on February 18, 2026, 09:05:50 PMGuilford wins at Averett to lock up an ODAC tourney spot.
I attended this game in Danville ... it's a relatively short drive from Greensboro.

This ODAC tilt was rather chippy at times... and perhaps closer than the final 92-79 score would appear.  I can see how AU tripped up some top tier conference foes this season.

But for the love of God, why do the official scorers and the refs allow David Doino to sit on top of the scorer's table the whole game?  The table even has an 18" crack where he sits.  Please buy (or lease) another chair!

HASA!! Good to see you back on here pal! Have missed your insightful posts!
Thanks, rmc1982, life has kept me rather busy.  I'll try to check in more.

I don't know how the coaches and players might feel, but I'd accept that challenge for RMC since it would be a home game for the Jackets. A semi-final or final round game in Salem is another matter.
I understand your logic ... and RMC would certainly be favored.

Yep, saw the ODAC was done.  Lots of good teams, but you need to get hot late.

Something I discovered while looking up something else:

W&L was one of the 17 Southern Conference schools when 7 broke away in 1953 to form the ACC (Virginia also joined soon after).

Not picking on the Generals, but they were 1-17 in hoops that last season with 17 teams.

Good luck to all the ODAC teams in the NCAA:  HSC, RMC, Roanoke and, of course, my Guilford College Quakers!  Soccer, Class of '74!

Someone mentioned it earlier, but VWU's home lost to GC in the ODAC first round dropped their final NPI below the cut-off.  Meanwhile, GC's stellar 3-game run over the Marlins, RMC and Roanoke moved the Quakers from #39 to # 25.

BTW, GC's now split with 4 of the 6 teams that defeated them.  Emory is also a 5th possibility this weekend.

Consider these swings:
VWU- lost by 19, won by 13 = 32
RMC- lost by 31, won by 3 = 34
RoCo- lost by 25. won by 5 = 30

GC is not the same team they were earlier.  It's always good to peak at play-off time!

My friends and I were talking about this during the game today (I was there).

RC 7 of 17, GC 15 of 16

Yep that will lose it for you. I'm happy we got there but sucks to lose it.  Guilford was the better team today. Most of us said almost all season that the ODAC race was between 5 teams (HSC, RMC, Roanoke, VWU and Guilford) and it's only fitting that the 5th seed won it all. Should be interesting how many teams the ODAC gets in and where they will be playing at. Go Maroons!
Roanoke is certainly deserving of a good placement.

Re FTs, GC lost to a good Belhaven team this year 56-53 when we went 6 of 15 from the line.

BTW, Pfeiffer (NC) won the USA South today.  While I'm positive they'll travel, I think it'll enter into the calculus for where first round games are held.

Congratulations to the RMC women's team.  What a great season!

I was unable to attend today's Guilford vs RMC game, but will make the drive to Salem tomorrow for the Championship.

Today's two games were good ones ... I hope tomorrow's game will be as well.

I'm obviously rooting for the Quakers, but both teams are solid contenders for the ODAC as well as in the NCAA tournament. Here's hoping the ODAC gets four!

Go Quakers!

I knew Guilford had to run the gauntlet to win the ODAC:  VWU on the road, RMC on a 20-game win streak and now, perhaps, Roanoke.  All 3 beat the Quakers soundly in the regular season.  Roanoke has a 15-point halftime lead, but UL is still in it!

Getting hot at the right time is key.  All 5 teams at the top of the ODAC had stellar seasons!
