Old School.... (Tom Doebler) I think the reason that people have no confidence in the Tommies this year is because they have won games, but played quite inconsistent all year. They also lack a big presence in the paint. The fact that they rely on the outside shot so much makes them seem like a team that is ready to be upset. I don't see it happening to BV though. Their strong guard play shouldn't effect the Tommies too much. UST may be young and inexperienced but the early upset is unlikely especially since its at the Shoe.

Abominable_Snowman I can't definitely agree with you. The the national title, and even championship game has eluded one of the great D3 programs. I will not take one thing away from GAC as they have made it further than any St. Thomas team ever did. I enjoy watching this years Tommies, and have the highest hopes for their future. They live and die by the 3 ball way too much. I really like some of the play coming from the low post, but are in need of a force in the middle like Conboy or Moberg if they ever want to take a run at the title.
I also agree that GAC has a great history, and do things the right way. They always seem to get good recruits though they might be less known to the people of the suburbs. The size of the JV team should mean real good things for the near future, and Jesse Van Sickle is a stud.

I did indeed say "Bring It On" not insinuating a was trying to start a fight, but because I knew my post would bring a heated discussion in which it most certainly did.
I failed to mention Russian Mig AK47 because though he trashed on Archer a bit I very much respected his opinions.
A.O. Though you are going to try to group me as a fair weather Tommie's fan (I can't deny the fact that the St. Thomas fan base is a bit disappointing) But I did in fact make the trek to Bethel this year, and was one of a very small Tommie student section. I was their for both the JV and Varsity games, and watched two impressive Tommie victories. I am not trashing on Bethel in the least. I really enjoy watching them play, and the combo of Madson, and Moberg will be very exciting next year. I had the pleasure of watching Moberg all through high school, and will expect big things from the Bethel next year. Also I would like to say that Bethel's student section is amazing and I loved the white out.
Drake Palmer About your stupid comment that I should watch out, because some Gusties might beat me up or whatever you are insinuating is ridiculous. Are you in 10th grade? I did not say bring it on in the direction of any GAC fans challenging them, I was interested in opening a discussion.
Abominable_Snowman I disagree with you on your point that GAC has an equal or greater legacy than St. Thomas. This is nothing against GAC I agree that their legacy is great, and have had a little better success in the post season lately than UST. UST has 23 conference titles, to GAC's 16. Thomas also has won 6 of the last 9. Those numbers are very hard to argue with. One season is not enough to cement a legacy. I am not taking anything away from the legacy of GAC, and enjoy watching them play. I am a big fan of Jesse Van Sickle, and believe the Gusties should be pretty good again next year.
PTPer35 You have made no good point yet. You must just sit on this site all day and look for people to fight with. I will gladly argue things with you but first you need so say something of importance. Go ahead and call me a tool all you would like, because I am doing nothing more than showing confidence in the program at UST. Go ahead and battle me on something, but if you just want to sit around and complain like it really seems I am not going to listen.
Finally I apologize for using morons in my post. If you are honestly offended by that you shouldn't be on here, and need to grow up.
Bring It On (Meaning a nice heated discussion for anyone confused by this)

Wow, guys lets turn this discussion board into a user bashing board a little more huh?
I am not going to deny the fact that Teddy's emotions get the better of him sometimes on the court, but that does that mean he is classless, he is just a fierce competitor. Lets look at your boy Wittwer for a minute. Everyone seems to have a problem with Teddy being a physical player, but Wittwer had 88 fouls in conference play alone, including fouling out 6 times. Wait it's probably because the refs hate GAC for some unknown reason though.
Next I used the word creep 4 times in the whole post, and that would be because PTPer was searching around the internet to get something on me. Lets not get into my word selection when you are saying things like "least classiest".
If you would like to actually discuss something like the game or MIAC teams or anything with any relevance instead of insulting people for their opinions that would be nice. I will even discuss how unfair you probably thought the officiating was in the championship game, because that is all anyone seems to want to talk about.

Dear Prime Time Player
1. First off why are you such a creep? You have way to much time on your hands if you are going as far as looking up peoples facebooks. That is absolutely creepy, and I have no reason to want to be anonymous I stand by what I said. Honestly that is the weirdest creepiest thing ever, do you have that lame of a life that you spend your time looking up people you disagree with?
2. Teddy's job is to shut down the other teams stars no matter what it takes. You would love to have him on whatever sub-par team that you like to cheer for. Don't question his class when you are the creepy one looking up people on the internet and bashing on threads.
3. I don't care if you look me up or know who I am, I have nothing to hide. I shouldn't need to hide anything because I wouldn't expect any of the respectable members that post on this site to look up my information.
4. Don't question my knowledge because of my age, just because I don't stalk other posters doesn't mean that I don't know my stuff. I have read this board for a long time now, and have been an avid MIAC fan for years. Insult me about my opinions all you want, but lets keep your lame personal attacks out of this. Don't act like their isn't a ton of bias in this post, it is not something new it is happening all over. Plus you are the bias one making comments about me being from St. Thomas, and the year I graduate.
5. Of course I am excited about St. Thomas winning the title in what YOU would call an "Off Year". Well it is funny that a UST off year is far better than what the other teams in the MIAC did. Also we return every player that plays this year, so you can look forward to another "Off Year" next season I guess. You can't deny that St. Thomas is the elite program in the MIAC, I invite you to debate this with me.
How about you stop insulting me personally, and have a mature discussion. How about you save your lame insults for your friends on myspace. When you would like to discuss MIAC basketball again let me know.

First of all, I would love to say congrats to UST on their great season, and I am excited that we will be even better in the years to come. The domination is only beginning, so the next few years will be quite enjoyable.
Next, I can't believe that all of the GAC fans think there is some type of conspiracy against their team, and that the refs have it out for them. That is absolutely ridiculous, you are just looking for excuses. You should know that St. Thomas has been called for more fouls than their opponents in conference play 505 to 473. The fact is you guys were out played by a better team. Stop making excuses.
Also, too many people are complaining about Teddy Archer, and are making terrible points I might add.

I have the privilege of knowing Teddy very well and he is the classiest person I know. He is as good of a defender as the MIAC has and consistently gets the star players of the opposing team in foul trouble. Maybe your players need to get stronger mentally if they can't handle a little bit of physical play. He is a spark that every team in the MIAC would love to have.
I might also add that Teddy scored 10 points including, two free throws to tie the game with under a second left in regulation of the Tommie's HUGE win at Winona State (Something that none of your teams will ever get close to accomplishing) <------That's the skill you morons claim he is lacking.
Quit complaining just because YOUR teams can't dethrone the mighty Tommie's.
Bring it on guys!
