That said there are still 6 spots open on next year's roster! (Maybe 7 spots if anyone on this year's varsity squad does not return, which I hear is a possibility).  Along those lines any word on incoming freshmen or this year's JV players? Particularly do we have any height somewhere? Our tallest returning players are 6'5". And as I said I thought Osburn played great but I rather not see him having to play the 5 and guard 5's all next year. I think of him as a 4.

From what I have seen there are several jv players that could step up for next year.  One, that I was very impressed with this past year, was Nelis.  He's a bigger body and is very quick.  Another that comes to mind is Cox.  When he turns it on, he can shoot lights out.

I think that there are 7 spots open for sure for next year. (I may be mistaken, but I believe Cody Cannon is a senior)  I think we could also look forward to the possibility of another strong recruiting class.

Also, I see Kratz pushing through his sophomore slump and being very good next year.

Interesting point of view from someone in Holland.

http://hollandsentinel.com/stories/032108/D3_20080321040.shtml

Interesting story if not totally accurate. First, North Park has 5 D3 titles, which would be one more than the 4 the Wash U women have, which Babitt claims is the unmatched total for D3.

As far as pressure on GVW. Its self imposed pressure. Its true everyone wants to see Hope win the title from Hope but its not job pressure. Hope wouldn't fire GVW, nor should it.

DCHN is right. Of course if the author of the Sentinel article had taken 2 minutes to research this instead of winging it he would known that while Glenn's wife Jacquelyn is a 1967 Hope graduate, GVW graduated in 1964. But that would be too much to ask of a paid journalist wouldn't it? :o

Wow.....as much as winning a national title would have been great, i do not feel as though everything hinges on the fact that Hope still does not have a banner.  While GVW and the Hope players may not have a banner, they must look at what they've achieved over the past three seasons.  Sweet 16, Elite 8 and this year the Final 4.  That's some good basketball over the years.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can look at that and be impressed irregardless of who you cheer for.

Regardless too. ;)

Good catch!  Thanks!  :D

I would just advise all my fellow posters.  Don't dish it out if you are not ready to receive it when the shoe is on the other foot. :)

I couldn't agree more.  So, I too will be rooting for Hope tomorrow!

Change of heart so soon Wiz?

No change of heart.  As you may have read in an earlier post, I encouraged Hope to represent the MIAA well.  They can still salvage some respect for our league by winning tomorrow.

True, I was also referencing several earlier posts where you pointed out that Calvin beat the Wash-U team with Sean Wallis.  The change from that post to cheering for Hope is where I see the change of heart.  Not that a little extra cheering for Hope will hurt.  :D

3rd place game tomorrow here Hope comes.  I wouldn't be surprised  to see a fire lit under Hope after tonight's second half.  This is the first time in a long time that hope has come out flat in the second half.

It's unfortunate that teams from the MIAA have to play each other so early in the tournament year in a year out.  Those stats may be much better as a result.

Great game from Hope tonight.

Is there a defensive MVP for All American?  Klein?

Couple of thoughts:

- Bosch did indeed play some good minutes off the bench - and that block was incredible.

- Marcus and Jesse were both dominating scorers tonight - and a powerful dunk by Jesse really lit the crowd on fire late in the second half.

- Your going to win a lot of games shooting 54% from the floor, 55% from three, and 81% from the line.

- The last three games, Hope's halftime adjustments have been great - signs of another great job by GVW.

I agree, Hope's halftime adjustments have been great.  If only GVW could get the team out of the gates that way.

On Carter, I wonder if coming in with the scrubs is indicative of the fact that his ankle may not be 100% yet.  We have much to look forward to with Carter!

Great game by Hope tonight.  I was again impressed with Hope's ability to adapt.  I must give out props to Bosch for his play as of late.  I think that he is looked past on a regular basis and has done a great job.  He had a great block/swat tonight that was very impressive.

On a side note, did anyone see the end of the UCLA/Cal game?  Wow!

MK:  Make up your own mind on whether you want to pull for Hope or not.  However, you should keep in mind the MIAA, and MIAA schools gain much more by any success the Hope teams may have, rather than their failure.  Winning a banner would go a long ways towards quieting down all the talk about how great the CCIW, WIAC, UAA etc. etc. etc. view themselves. :D

It seems to be a trend for lurkers to come out and start posting lately, so I felt that now is as good of a time as ever to do so with the Dutchmen playing in the tournament.  I feel that even with team alliances in place, one has to pull for a team from one's  conference.  It enables you to compare how your team may have competed against teams from conferences such as the CCIW, WIAC, and UAA.
