Spence,

It looks pretty detailed. My one concern would be that these numbers don't necessarily take into consideration wins against regional ranked teams which I really think the committee values highly. But then again it is strength of schedule and assuming the better the schedule the more likely you played someone that will be regionally ranked. It'll be interesting to see once the 1st regional rankings come out on Thursday to see how the regional committees value your system.

Liberty League format is a joke. They really need to get things figured out here with the scheduling. Four game series seems a little too much with as many teams as they have in the league. They really should probably go back to the 2 game series where everyone plays each other, but then again that creates a ton of non-league games to be schedule.

It doesn't seem right that several teams won't see each other at all and some coaches are not taking initiative to reschedule their make-ups trying to find anyway in the field. If that's the case just have an expanded conference tournament.

Again, theres a lot of things they can do but the format they have in place right now makes no sense at all and doesn't allow for the best competitive balance across the board. Too many ways to manipulate things in ones favor in the current setup.

Ralph the CUNYAC is at 7 schools for baseball. They have CCNY, Lehman, Staten Island, Baruch, John Jay...along with Stevens and Yeshiva. The CUNYAC is set to go for 2014 Pool A bid.

Here's an article talking about Staten Island getting ready for the automatic bid

Ralph,

The CUNYAC will have a POOL A automatic bid this year. They already have a 2014 handbook out. How accurate it is I couldn't tell you but they have just 2 Pool B bids slated for 2014.

Adams not being there is a big loss. The kid can pitch and would of been a guy you know you can give the ball to in big games.

Ithaca had played 2 games already before heading to Cali and lets face it no one that doesn't play in the south or west region has probably been outside on diamond. The games in Cali this year have a little more meaning than in the past as they now count towards primary selection criteria. This hasn't been the case up until this year. It'll be interesting to see how this effects the Bombers.

It wouldn't surprise me to see 3 of the 5 E8 teams in the 2014 regionals! How about that for a bold statement to get things started.

Fisher really hasn't beaten anyone if you look at their schedule. 26-14 overall.... 8-0 against Houghton and Utica isnt really considered doing damage. I realize they have to play these games but they really have no good wins. There best win was against an Ithaca team they went 1-3 against.

West Region / Re: BB: Top Teams in West Region

Crash I disagree....Eastern teams will be more prone to come West now once all games count based on SOS. It makes no sense for a team from the East to come to the West Region to play games when they don't count as in-region games. In-Region records are what determine who gets POOL C's.

That is why you see so many Eastern teams going to Florida so they can get in-region games in. Kean approaches things a little different and would rather get tested against tough Western teams that help prepare them to make a run in the NJAC. In hindsight if Kean drops all there West Coast games it has no effect on whether they will get a Pool C bid.

Ranking the NY Region Top 10 from (February 23-March 4)

1.) Ithaca (4-0)
Impressive win over national power Eastern Conn. Took care of business against weaker opponents
2.) Cortland State (5-1)
Only loss to nationally ranked #6 Salisbury. Handled four NY regional opponents
3.) St John Fisher (3-1)
Only loss to nationally ranked Aurora
4.) Brockport State (2-0)
Defeated nationally ranked Kean. Edged Baruch for other win
5.) Stevens (3-1)
Played Eastern Conn tough; picked up three easy wins against weaker schedule
6.) Oswego State (2-1)
split with Rutgers Camden; comeback win against TCNJ
7.) RIT (4-2)
offense carried them to a 4-2 spring trip, however relatively weak schedule. notable win against preseason ranked Farmingdale
8.) Old Westbury (3-3)
Skyline favorite off to .500 start with tough early season schedule

Same questions arise as always...who has enough to give Cortland a run? I expect Oswego to keep trending upward and also expect New Paltz to have a bounce back year. Brockport will be solid but not sure they have enough to get over the top.

Going to have to agree with easy_money on this one. New Paltz seems to have dropped the ball on this one. I hear the field was in rough shape there today!?

Fishers 1-2 is probably better than anyone Brockport has but like you said I think the depth should help Brockport. I'm not so sure fisher is going to roll through a weak conference. Yes Utica isn't very good and stevens has been down in recent years, however early signs say Ithaca looks like the Ithaca of old. Those will not be 6 easy wins by no means and could easily see Ithaca winning that season series. Also beating the same team 6 times will be no easy task.

Oneonta ahead of Brockport and New Paltz just don't see it. I think that's a pretty bold statement for a team that lost so much. I put them in the running with Plattsburgh battling for the 4th spot in the tourney.
