LC,

You sound like the type that advocates for games to be played and not keep score.  No one is suggesting that these kids playing their hearts out are losers if they do not win the conference championship.  The kids themselves are not losers their team as a collective is though.  No one is attacking the athletes.  If you do not have a chance to fail you can never have the chance to soar or succeed.  If you do not have a measuring stick you do not have a way to see how far you have come.   You can only have 1 automatic qualifier from this conference.  That is the prize and the goal of every IIAC team.  That is how success is defined.  That is team success.  Are there successes on the field?  Individual successes?  I would say yes to both.  I think unless you just want to show up and kick a ball around the field hit somebody knock them down and not keep score then this is the way things will be.

that would be soccer, no?

Can we beat Coe?

no, i would like to see it happen, but no
coe is middle of the pack team...again. but no way they drop one to the rams next week. was able to catch some of the webcast. looked like coe was gonna take control but folded. gac interception at the two was terrible decision by coe qb - could have taken it to the house.

congrats to loras for getting the w. been a tough ride but streak is over!!!  looks like loras dominated time of possession and had a good passing attack.

simpson with disappointing outing but a win nonetheless. tough weather conditions affected both teams i presume. looks like rush defense was stellar, but dodged a couple of bullets early with two missed fg by nw - both inside 30 yds. i hope nw is better than i think???

good luck to the spartys and warts tonight. either of these have web video?

analyzing rosters in iiac. do the numbers of players in each class surprise anyone? what does this mean for the future of the teams?

Buena Vista  TOTAL ROSTER SIZE = 93 (16 SR, 17 JR, 16 SO, 44 FR)
Central  TOTAL ROSTER SIZE = 129 (19 SR, 18 JR, 40 SO, 52 FR)
Coe  TOTAL ROSTER SIZE = 90 (20 SR, 16 JR, 26 SO, 28 FR)
Cornell  TOTAL ROSTER SIZE = 63 (16 SR, 5 JR, 17 SO, 25 FR)
Dubuque  TOTAL ROSTER SIZE = 106 (16 SR, 18 JR, 24 SO, 48 FR)
Loras  TOTAL ROSTER SIZE = 85 (11 SR, 19 JR, 22 SO, 33 FR)
Luther  TOTAL ROSTER SIZE = 83 (28 SR, 17 JR, 16 SO, 22 FR)
Simpson  TOTAL ROSTER SIZE = 116 (20 SR, 23 JR, 16 SO, 57 FR)
Wartburg  TOTAL ROSTER SIZE = 128 (21 SR, 24 JR, 34, 49 FR)

central and wartburg numbers tell a story.
dubuque as well.
looks to me like luther is in trouble in the next few yrs.
i think simpsons getting things in place but probably a couple years away.
coe coaching change affect fr class?

i know quality is more important than quantity, but the strong survive system seems to be working at central and wartburg. comments?

Great post...and I bet that took a lot of time to look up.  I'm a numbers guy and can't get enough of data like that.  I think I had 109 for a roster size for Dubuque with 17 seniors, 18 juniors, and 47 freshmen...hadn't looked at the sophmore class yet, but those are pretty darn close to your numbers.

Don't really know what to make of the numbers yet, a lot depends on the quality of the players there.  For me, I am happy to see Dubuque with the numbers they have now.  In the past it would be more like 5 seniors, 10 juniors, 20 sophmores and 60 freshmen

might be off a couple numbers here and there but should be pretty close. interested in what others think

OMG, check it out!  I think we have a scandal on our hands!  Former BV QB Hawkins was listed at 6' last year but this UNALTERED photo shows that he is clearly 12'+!  Obviously someone (I'm looking at you, BV SID) is engaging in scatological warfare!

just wanted to clear this up. no he is not 12' tall. bv had a 'little people day' promotion

lighten up people

Speedkills84,

Have you done your preseason picks and answered the questions on the pickem board for the tie breakers?  I didn't see them.  If you did just tell me which page.

Also anyone else want to do the pickems this year please get to the pickem board to do the preseason picks and answer the questions.  We will only have one more week till the season.

sorry i'm new but is there a separate board to do the pickems and where is it? really want to get it.

what do you all think of simpson this year? they will move up the standings for sure. new coach is getting it going and they have alot of experience returning plus the transfer qb is really good. had some tough losses last season but learned from em

Predictions:
1. Wartburg- defense will win this championship
2. Central- great tradition, but not enough to pull one off this year
3. Simpson- most improved and will beat central but will drop one somewhere
4. Dubuque- questions, questions.
5. Coe- usually find way to compete, but loss of coach to much
6. Buena Vista- best of the rest
7. Luther- lost too much offense
8. Loras- loosing streak will be 10 before they get 1st one this year and could get real bad if Cornell finds a way to get them
9. Cornell- not yet

i think simpson will be better this year then in years past as well, but how can a team be the most improved without playing a game yet?

please notice i headed my list with the word predictions.

Well, I guess it could happen.  The Dutch are only 9-1 against Simpson the last 10 meetings, so Simpson has been victorious 1x in the last 10 years.   :o :o :o

hey i respect what central has done the last bunch of seasons. indisputable. based on last year when simpson won every stat except points and simpson is better this year i've drawn an uncommon conclusion - that simpson wins. also dont believe central can houdini their way through this year

I'm about to post an up-dated listing of who supports which team in the IIAC.

Which team is yours?

GO SPARTANS!
