IC tops Hartwick 27-13 in a game that was much closer than the final score indicates. Hartwick actually outgained IC in terms of total yardage. Without Dan Ruffrage's big day (75 receiving yards, a TD catch, and a huge kickoff return for a score) and the pick-six at the end, you could make the argument that IC would have lost the game.

The positives for IC: It's a win. Hendel did fine, especially in the first half, but he did throw two picks. IC's defense forced four turnovers, including the 95-yard INT return for a score at the end of the game.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The Cage is in IC's head. The score shows a team that was considerably better than its opponent on that given day, but the stats and the way the game was played say otherwise.

Very entertaining 4 quarter. I thought the Hartwick defense played very well in the 2nd half. Special teams have been an issue.

Very happy with how the defense is playing.  First team defense has given up 9, 7, 7 and 14. A few years ago that total was the first half for most teams. If we could stop turning the ball offensively.

Saw #23 for IC after the game. Told him I was glad he is a senior. The kid had a great game.

A question for those posters who have seen Utica this year.  What can we expect from them at their place?  Is it lots of passing?

On Saxon Warriors!!

Against Hartwick a lot of quick short passes....quick screens, etc....I think Hartwick was playing a lot of coverage behind it. They run the ball out of the shotgun a lot....zone read type play.

Just don't let 16 catch the ball, he is very good and 5 the QB has a nice ball.

Defensively they are ok, block 91 and you can throw the ball. Short corners....I would use the game plan you had against Hartwick. Attack the short corners...

wow.
Im glad to hear that.
He is a fellow New Hartford alum and i had the pleasure of watching him play.
he was a great get for Blaise and co.

He made a catch over the middle on a rocket from Benkwitt that I am not sure the WRs at Colgate or Syracuse would have made. Great catch. The only negative I saw was he went down a little easily. He needs to realize that he is bigger faster and better then the players he is going against. That will come with time. If he develops like he should, he will be an All American type kid. He is that talented.

Hartwick has to get some taller CBs to deal with him. Easier said then done at the D3 level, as we know. I do think the Harwick D did a good job of keeping the receivers in front of them. No 60 yard TD passes, made them be patient.

We complete 4 passes and win the game. Who would have taken that bet.

This Casimanu RB is a good runner that nobody knows about.

We will see if we can finish the season on a high note.

do you mean acevado?
i thought that he was out for the season

Yes, he played....he also scored once on the wildcat. He is an impressive looking kid. We do not have anyone that looks like that :-) I think he had 10 catches to lead the team.

Yanks
I stand corrected yet again this week.
That game is a complete enigma to me.
Didnt see that coming!

I couldnt believe the game plan of Hartwick runnning the ball all over the place.
Utica had a lot of promise this year... I mean they were considered a titan at one point
Hartwick played a very good game and actually tried to run the ball and to their surprise, succeeded. I think their defense has improved, still too small and no depth,  but improved. If the offense doesn't turn the ball over like they have, they might have been a 5-4 team. If you look through the year, 6-0 at half versus SC, 12-7 with a minute to go in the 3rd quarter and they start turning the ball over. Considering how SC rang the points up against SJF,  it was not a bad showing. They just get wore down by teams late since they are on the field so much. Same thing with the SJF game 24-14 late third quarter and 5 straight turnovers. Against Ithaca, turnovers and sacks killed them. They do need some bigger dbacks...but, I though with all the height at WR UC had, they would have 400 yards passing against them. But they kept Benkwitt to about his average. BTW that freshmen WR for UC is not a D3 level kid.

Compared to the last few years, I'll take an average defense.

with all due respect- your d is average at best.
sorry- but the game im watching is pretty aweful.
your qb seems ok- has good feet.
casimano is a decent back too

Being average vs Morrisville is not a good thing...

Didn't say they were average against Morrisville. 240 total yards is pretty good....I know it's Morrisville.  My point is, they may be an average defense this in hopefully versus horrible in the past.

Not saying their defense played great...but 143 yards passing on 45 attempts is not getting lit up.

I saw a little of the Hartwick game on TV.  If their secondary is getting lit up by Morrisville, they could be in for a long season.  The commentator said that the Morrisville QB is a converted WR from last year.  Morrisville couldn't recruit a QB  anywhere??!!

As per a discussion a while back, I've heard from a pretty good source that the transfer quarterback into Hartwick is indeed the same player that has also been at Delaware and initially committed to Purdue as a preferred walk-on. Hartwick would make his third school in as many years.

If it is him, is he just trying to find a place to play or did he not get along at IC?  Hopefully he is a good kid that maybe thought he wasn't going to start at IC and decided to find another place. I will certainly give him the benefit of the doubt until I hear otherwise.

Hearing Springfield to the LL in 2011.  Has anyone else heard this?

Heard the transfer is coming from Ithaca. Who might be looking to leave?

They had a pair of D-1AA transfers...maybe one of them?

Who and where did they come from?

I heard through the grapevine that Hartwick supposedly has a QB transfer coming in the spring but I don't have the name. I can't get too excited until they are actually here and eligible.

Last year this Adamo kid was the buzz and he never suited up. We certainly need an upgrade at that position.

Like I said, seeing will believing. I know they really liked the Benkwitt kid but Utica snagged him last year.

My source made it sound like the QB could be coming from a current E8 school. Any unhappy backups?

Good news for Wick...

If they have a QB, they are dangerous...

With out a QB, totally different story...

That would still give the E8 the 7 teams if/when SU and Frostburg leave...

Interesting...

Add Brockport, Cortland and Morrisville to the E8 when they leave. Then move Salisbury, Frostburg and Wesley to the NJAC. Two excellent conferences.
