No audio on the webcast from Brunswick since the first half ended. Not sure what the issue is.
And yet they have to blast music onto the field in between the ball being snapped. This isn't Gillette Stadium, is this really necessary? It's a nice fall day, a nice NESCAC game, shouldn't that be enough entertainment? There were probably more alumni at the game than students, so who was that for? Damn I'm feeling old today.

"I am surprised that Bowdoin was allowed to wear light gray shirts with white numerals instead of the usual black -- it was a little hard to keep the players straight but an excellent and very solid win for Bowdoin."
I was at the game as well, and initially couldn't tell which team was which. It was a game of 4 qtrs, 3 (1,2,4) where Bowdoin excelled and 1 (3rd) were Hamilton did. I happened to overhear Coach Murray yelling at the team during halftime, saying "stop feeling sorry for yourselves, if you thought this was an easy win you're wrong" The azz-chewing seemed to work for 1 qtr, then HC lost their momentum. Was Rosenberg injured at QB, I thought I saw his shoulder wrapped in the 2nd qtr and Freeman went in for the 2nd half.
One coaching strategy question I had: the game started late, and BC elected to play with the sun and wind at their backs for the 3rd qtr, and face both for the 4th. In the end it didn't make a difference, but what if HC had kicked the winning points with the wind at the end. I talked to a HC player's mother, who said her son has NEVER been in a winning college football game. I'm not sure it will happen this season either.

Notable snubs:
LB MacDonald from Hamilton had a good year statistically, but the Hamilton defense was too bad to have any players from that side of the ball make the team.

Can't agree with you, nor did the NESCAC coaches. With your logic, Archie Manning should never have been NFC Player of the Year.

Williams returns opening kick 95 yards, 12 seconds in Hamilton losing 7-0.  :-[

Wow, I need my eyes checked. For a moment there, I thought the title of the thread was NESCAC championship added for 13-14.

I picked Hamilton over Colby 19-17, was thinking Hamilton was at home- Truns out game is at Colby so I'll reverse it: Colby 19 Hamilton 17
not too far off. Colby 32, Hamilton 29.  Another bizarre ending (last week Ham QB ran for 15 sec or so to run out the clock,no taking a knee, to great confusion by refs).
Today, Ham down by 3 with 30 secs or so left, Colby coach appeared to forget Ham had 3 TOs left, kept having QB kneel down.  defense called TOs,Mules only needed a first down to end game.
Instead turned ball over with about 20 secs left, Eck completed 2 long passes, before they could try FG two Ham players ran onto Colby sideline, penalty flags galore,   THREE restarts of FG play to tie game, then Colby TO, 0.05 added to clock, finally Ham kicker missed. Game over.  Long bus ride back to Clinton.

As an aside I think Bobbo had worked with the college for 20+ years and it seemed (just from my short experiences on other campuses) that many members of the athletic staffs remain at the colleges for long tenures. Stan Zieja has been with the training staff at Amherst for 20+ years as well. Something that I think may be unique to small college athletics.

Free college tuition for the staff's children may be one reason. And NESCAC schools have reciprocal agreements with each other for faculty (teach Math at Trinity, your son goes to Colby free), perhaps athletic staff as well.

http://www.nationalchamps.net/Helmet_Project/nescac.htm  is the link to a page chronicling the NESCAC teams helmet logos over the years, or at least from the 1990s forward.  Hamilton has had the buff/blue uppercase H on their helmets since the 1980s.  The only helmet that seems consistent is the Ephs on side of Williams helmets.  A few pages back the uniform changes were debated, I peronally think the teams should stay old school with both unis and helmets, not try to match the more Nike commercial ready helmets of so many DI teams.  Just my 2Cs.

Hamilton picks up first win,14-13 over Bowdoin.  Strange end to game, Eck started at QB, his backup (Trinity transfer) came in late, threw a TD, defense held on downs, then for the "final;" play, Ham QB ran around the field for 15 seconds,  trying to run out the clock.  Lots of flags and confusion, (yes, thought of the replacement NFL refs) teams finally ordered back on the field for one more knee down play, and Continentals won.  Sets up interesting Colby-Hamilton game next week.

Trin 41, Ham 0 (ZERO) at half, could be even worse if not for Trin penalties. T 370 yds total offense first half...SR Eck put back in at QB when the former Trin QB now at Hamilton proved so hapless. I only hope it's not T 90 something H 0 at end.

Ham outscored Trin 14--12 in 2nd half.  Well, that's something to build on. :-[ :'(

Wes 34 Ham 14. Continentals scored early td and late in game td, Cardinals everything else.. Score only H 7 W 6 at half, looked like Ham had chance, but Wes just pulled away in 3rd quarter.  Soph QB started for Ham, so senior QB Eck has clearly been benched.
The "webcast" from Wes was terrible, somebody tell the school technology has changed since 1995, also their "live stats" page   was actually a 2011 soccer game! :o

Has anyone determined if the replacement NFL refs are former  NESCAC officials? Presumably they would be "former" D3 refs, now working Sundays instead of Saturdays.

I'd guess so since they are used to seeing such 'blazing speed' in the NESCAC. :-)

Brace yourself, the D3 refs are coming home. And they might be angry about their NFL nightmare.  i predict a lot more flags this weekend. (if any Nescac refs truly were NFL replacements).
It's hard to see Hamilton not starting  the season 0-3, with Wes and Trinity coming up.  The Bates Hamilton game in November could be the highlight of the season for both teams.

Quote from: Yarsan on September 23, 2012, 01:02:55 PM...the Hamilton squad seems to be responding well to the head coach/defensive coordinator. All in all, I came away reasonably optimistic about Hamilton's prospects this year. The most serious injury problem might be Coach Cohen's voice - he is very, er, energetic.

Ahh, in the Steve Frank mold. (Hopefully without Frank's constant F bombs, which were a bit much)
