Congrats to Salisbury for advancing. Wishing the Gulls the best of luck as they will get a vulnerable Mount Union next (at home?).

Alvernia almost pulled one out as they fall to 0-6. Recruiting can't be easy in Del Val's backyard...

No votes for any team in the NJAC in the preseason top 25... wow! This conference pre-COVID and post-COVID are two different worlds.

December 17, 2023, 07:21:32 PMQuote from: MRMIKESMITH on December 17, 2023, 05:29:13 PMHmmm... there's a guy who boasted one of the top offenses in Division III for the better part of the 2000s and 2010s coaching at Dover High right now.... if the football program at Salisbury is serious about contending, would Sherman Wood pay him a visit?
With Cortland winning it all with 90% of their players from the State of NY and having Freshman playing at key positions. It's no excuse for the rest of the Region to step their game up. No complaining about administration, roster limits, etc. It's up to the program to recruit better, remove complacency and do a full system recheck. What we currently have is clearly not good enough, the standard and bar are not good enough. Salisbury has to recruit better, Salisbury has to get back to recruiting at a minimum the great Wesley teams, however that's not enough, Salisbury has to recruit to the level of National Championship. Cortland proved it, no more excuses. Revaluate players, coaches, scheme. These last 3 years, we been coasting and boasting based on winning a conference that is in the bottom 3rd of the division. We didn't make the post-season this past year, the previous two years prior, we got our doors blown out in the first round. We can't do that no more!!! It's not okay. I'm envious, I want Salisbury to have what Cortland have. If players and coaches don't have that drive, then I don't want it part of the program. We have the recruiting area, we have the facilities. We need better players, better coaching, and better administration support. Everyone has to be on board to get to National Championship level. Trying to be regionally good is not going to cut it.

With that run it's over. Congrats to Cortland. And yes every Mount fan, player and coach should be puking right now.
Geez... kind of a backhanded congratulations if you ask me... Mount got bounced in the 2nd round. It happens. Mount didn't belong in Salem this year. Period.
Cortland was written off by everyone the whole way. Good for them for proving everyone wrong.

Eyebrow raising score thru 1 half of play. Del Val 7, Alvernia 0. We will see how well Alvernia's line holds up in the second half... but you can def see the experience of Alvernia's coaching staff against Duke Greco and crew is what is keeping it close.

Here's my list of remnants of those who still have eligibility that once upon a time suited up for the Wesley Wolverines... the ones I could find at least. This list is going to get a lot smaller next season.
Mike Brewer - Gr. - Shippensburg
Derrico Poston - R-Jr. - Delaware State
Darrin Matthews - Gr. - Alvernia
Jemuel Cypress - Jr? - Waynesburg
Tazmire Burton - Sr. - William Paterson
Daquan Knight - Sr. - William Paterson
Will Valentine - Sr. - William Paterson
Eric Bryant - Jr. - Rowan
Jay Holmes - Sr. - IUP
Odion Okojie - Jr. - Bowie State
Deshawn Wiggins - Jr. - Del Val (listed as injured).

Darin Matthew's on the OL is the only Wesley guy this year... and he didn't even see much PT at Wesley.Quote from: thewaterboy on September 23, 2023, 06:55:51 PM
Another tough one for Alvernia... only seeing the final, but was really hoping they'd get it done today. 1-2 wins possible for them from here on out IMO.
Now that he ran out of former Wesley players.........let's see his true recruiting chops in a conference that is not loaded with monster teams!!
Azz is one of the best recruiters in the game. He pulled Joe Callahan out of nowhere and we know how that turned out. If he gets time he'll be ok. I will say Azz is in a bit of a different situation than trying to recruit for Wesley. Alvernia has no track record.

September 09, 2023, 05:12:53 PMQuote from: MRMIKESMITH on September 09, 2023, 04:38:43 PMhaha +k. I still pop on here from time to time. Pulling for NJAC teams and Alvernia... but you are right about wishing my team was still around... Saturdays are boring now....
Good to see people commenting when team is down, wishing their team was still around. With that said here is my Good, Bad, and Ugly:
I wish Salisbury (or someone) would make some noise, but it just seems like everyone in the NJAC has taken a step back in recent years which kind of stinks to see. Rowan, CNU, Montclair and Salisbury all aren't anywhere close to their peaks in terms of how well they play. In Salisbury's case, I think they need to scrap the option. Sell out for a more conventional look to get more quality athletes at QB and WR. It'll take time perhaps, but Salisbury has all the other pieces in place. I recall a conversation with a great former Wesley WR, who was being recruited by Salisbury. He said he was not interested as soon as they said the word "option."
