Alvernia almost pulled one out as they fall to 0-6. Recruiting can't be easy in Del Val's backyard...

No votes for any team in the NJAC in the preseason top 25... wow! This conference pre-COVID and post-COVID are two different worlds.

Hmmm... there's a guy who boasted one of the top offenses in Division III for the better part of the 2000s and 2010s coaching at Dover High right now.... if the football program at Salisbury is serious about contending, would Sherman Wood pay him a visit?

Cortland was written off by everyone the whole way. Good for them for proving everyone wrong.

Eyebrow raising score thru 1 half of play. Del Val 7, Alvernia 0. We will see how well Alvernia's line holds up in the second half... but you can def see the experience of Alvernia's coaching staff against Duke Greco and crew is what is keeping it close.

EJ Lee was really the only Wesley guy that was on Alvernia's roster last year. Darin Matthew's on the OL is the only Wesley guy this year... and he didn't even see much PT at Wesley.

Azz is one of the best recruiters in the game. He pulled Joe Callahan out of nowhere and we know how that turned out. If he gets time he'll be ok. I will say Azz is in a bit of a different situation than trying to recruit for Wesley. Alvernia has no track record.

Another tough one for Alvernia... only seeing the final, but was really hoping they'd get it done today. 1-2 wins possible for them from here on out IMO.

haha +k. I still pop on here from time to time. Pulling for NJAC teams and Alvernia... but you are right about wishing my team was still around... Saturdays are boring now....

I wish Salisbury (or someone) would make some noise, but it just seems like everyone in the NJAC has taken a step back in recent years which kind of stinks to see. Rowan, CNU, Montclair and Salisbury all aren't anywhere close to their peaks in terms of how well they play. In Salisbury's case, I think they need to scrap the option. Sell out for a more conventional look to get more quality athletes at QB and WR. It'll take time perhaps, but Salisbury has all the other pieces in place. I recall a conversation with a great former Wesley WR, who was being recruited by Salisbury. He said he was not interested as soon as they said the word "option."
