a little short on guards. Schaeffer and Jones quite capable at the point.
Pretty sure Schaeffer played point for most of his career. He did have over 400 assists.

As an Adrian fan, I couldnt be more excited about the matchup the Bulldogs drew.
I think the Adrian/Albion rivaly is a heated one, and Adrian has had success this year winning on the Brits floor (with Yancey playing)
I think if Adrian can play consistent D and boxes out, this is a game they can definitely win.
Just a question for anyone at the Albion/Alma game...
It appeared from the boxscore that Cruse and Stasiak didnt play. Are they hurt?? Discipline??
Can anyone out there shed some light!!
Go DAWGS!!!
Maybe Coach Sklar and coach Sovis should worry about the Brits instead of posting on this website.
yeah, good time to point out there is a posts history......

Massey's MOV-based ratings for the last few years:*To 2009-02-17
2005 2006 2007 2008 2009* Adrian 61 228 183 181 217 Albion 10 28 127 45 69 Alma 116 171 321 271 320 Calvin 2 14 28 48 28 Hope 29 3 5 2 68 Kazoo 157 111 292 262 225 Olivet 128 226 327 156 168 Trine 93 144 137 198 296
Note that the whole league is pulled up if teams do well in the NCAA tourney. I'd take the 2005 results with a grain of salt since two teams went far. For this year, inter-league comparisons are based exclusively on pre-conference games; if the conference has strengthened as a whole that won't show up until the post-season. Watch for this year's rankings for all conference teams to climb if an MIAA team makes a good run.
In 2005 the MIAA finished as the 4th-strongest conference. Currently it's something like 17th.
According to these numbers, 2005's worst team would be #4 in the conference this year.
I wouldn't take that with a grain of salt........2005 was an ultra-competitive year in the MIAA. That Adrian team that finished 4th was very good. I thought then there were 4 teams talented enough to do well in the NCAA's.
Jeff Nokovich, Brian Schaffer, Adam Novak, Mike Lewis, Billy Collins.......that was a pretty good starting 5. They beat Albion and Hope, as well as lost close games to Hope again and Calvin.
Adrian had the best starting 5 in the leage for 2 years in a row with that group but Buck messed it up and split them up for about 10 games in 2005. They had the best point gaurd in the league in nockovich, the best player in the league in shaffer, best offensive rebounder in novak, best defensive rebounder in Lewis and Collins was one of the best scorers in the league. Those were probably the best 2 years in Adrian History but Buck couldn't put it all together to win the league.

Some thoughts from the DeVos tonight:
* Heads up to the Alma team - it's not High School anymore - during player introductions please go to mid-court and shake hands with your opponent, not the officials!!
* A curious question, does #5 for Alma, Shaun Gordon, live in a bank? His hometown is listed as National City!
* Once again, the Alma Coach, Terry Smith, provided my seatmate with some interesting answers to the question, "How would you describe Alma's coach?" Responses were, Mild mannered, calm, quiet, reserved, introverted, disinterested, wishy-washy, quiet, shy, and timid. (PLEASE NOTE - THE ANSWERS WERE VERY SARCASTIC!!)
* 0.3 seconds left on the clock in the first half, Alma has the ball, and #21's eyes are bigger than saucers, the slam/jam move is all his!!! But hold it ladies and gentlemen, shot-clock violation, and the basket is NO good! Put the tongue back into the mouth, stop flexing and chest pumping, but rather, its time to get back on "D" - bummer for him.
* Another curious question, did #12 by any chance transfer from Judson College? His play very much mirrored that team's play which called for the paramedics to be on the sidelines!
* And..... the "early" Academy Award for best *FLOP* of the season goes to #23. Must have been watching night film!
* And with just 6:57 left in the game, I realized that there were only 2 officials on the floor. We did notice that Dave Joppe was limping quite badly at the end of the first half. Never saw if he twisted it, or stopped funnyon it, guess it must just be attibuted to getting old!!
* Word that was passed in our section was Olivet has now set a precedent: ALL MIAA teams must now win at the VanNoord!!!
* And a HUGE assist to Ty Tanis for dishing the ball to Nathaniel King for a 2 point lay-up. Now that was totally team!
* Lastly.... 2390 at the DeVos and 2021 in Grand Rapids, hmmmmmmm.....
As someone already stated, "We have a race folks." Nicely put!
