RC won the ODAC against RMC...I think I'm still in shock to be honest.

Roanoke got a much needed win against Washington and Lee a couple of days ago 92-68.  Roanoke seemed to be in control the whole game and went into halftime up 18.  Hopefully this is a good sign for RC on getting their scoring up.  RC plays against VWU tomorrow at 7:30 pm at the Salem civic center.  A win would most likely get us a bid.

Quote from: Tigerfan on February 22, 2026, 12:21:46 PMRoanoke's chances to make the NCAA tournament shot way up this weekend.  Now they are a near lock according to the D3 Datacast projections.

Any reason why? I'm guessing some teams that should've won lost? I'm scared of W and L they've manhandled us both games, season may be coming to a end on Tuesday.

Quote from: hasanova on February 18, 2026, 11:13:27 PMIf Guilford and Averett both win on Feb. 21, they'll be 8-8.  Since GC won both H2H games, GC 7th and AU 8th.  Same if they both lose - they'll finish 7-9, but, again, GC has the H2H tie-breaker. If GC wins and AU loses, then the Quakers would be 7th at 8-8 and AU 8th at 7-9.

Of the 4 possibilities on Feb. 21, the only one that favors AU is a Cougars win (8-8) and a Quakers loss (7-9).  A game vs RMC or VWU is in the balance (is Roanoke still in the running for 1 or 2 spot?).

There's no way we could get 1st but 2nd place could be in reach, though that's not likely.  We need Virginia Weselayn to lose at Lynchburg Saturday and for us to beat Randolph.  I haven't been able to get on here that much lately, but man Roanoke is not looking good. I have very little faith in us going far in the ODAC tourney we are VERY INCONSISTENT.

Yesterday we barely beat Lynchburg in OT but we can't pull away from most teams and our free throw shooting has been bad.  If we don't get it straight before the ODAC tourney it will be a quick tourney for us. With the loses to Washington and Lee (twice), Guilford, I really believe we have no shot at a at large bid.  Here's hoping RC gets it together and demolishes Randolph Saturday.

Quote from: thescottharris on February 05, 2026, 08:06:14 AMGuilford led Randolph 80-29 at halftime :o . If the Quakers would have kept their foot on the gas in the second half they would have won by 100+. They are rarely even competitive, much less winning, against the bottom of the league anymore. The top of the league they are mostly getting soundly beat. They really only have two more winnable games on the schedule, home against Bridgewater and Averett, to avoid having a winless season in ODAC play. It's really sad how far off they've fallen since Nunley left for the Roanoke job.

The ODAC hasn't seen a winless team (excluding the COVID shortened year) since W&L went 0-18 in 2005. That was only the fourth time ever a team went winless in ODAC play and just the second time since the league expanded to 10+ teams and 16-18 ODAC games.

Randolph is doing horribly would be a understatement. Correct me if I'm wrong didn't they start out pretty good last year (it might've been 2 years ago)?  But Randolph is definitely going downhill pretty fast, I'd be surprised if there isn't a coaching change if they ended up going winless the rest of the season.

Speaking of playing horribly, Washington and Lee kicked Roanokes a** for the second time yesterday 64-56.  They were in control the entire game. At one point we were down 43-30.  RC clawed its way back to only be down by 4 with 5 minutes left and that's the closest we would get. One of our starters was out with sickness but I still expected RC to come out with fire after losing at home against W and L the first time.  RC plays at EMU on Saturday.

Roanoke wins at Randolph College 86-74.  Roanoke held a 13 point halftime lead and led by as many as 19 in the second half.  Roanoke plays Averett at home on Friday.

In other odac news:

Washington and Lee loses to a Averett team at home who looks way better playing at home 63-79

Shenandoah gets another ODAC win this time at Bridgewater 69-60

EMU gets destroyed at Randolph Macon 46-95

Virginia Wesleyan gets a big win at Hampden Sydney 76-66.

This ODAC tourney is going to be interesting a lot of teams could win it. I'm still going with Randolph Macon though.

Quote from: Tigerfan on January 24, 2026, 01:12:00 PMAverett hasn't lost a conference game at home this season.  Their only home loss was the first game of the season.  They shot the ball with a lot of confidence.  The Tigers continue to start slowly and find themselves in a hole early.   Averett held their lead for 39 minutes; they had a 9 point lead with a minute to go.  The Tigers had the chance to win with the last possession in regulation but couldn't get it done.

Very glad Roanoke plays Averett at home. Yesterday Roanoke got a good win against Bridgewater 74-57. Roanoke started slow and was down in the first 5 minutes then regrouped and took a 36-21 lead into the half. RC plays at Randolph on Wednesday. All this talk about how bad Randolph is has me nervous Randolph is going to come out strong against us....

Roanoke got a good win yesterday at Lynchburg 92-68.  Was a tied game at half and Jackson Bell for RC came out of the half on fire.  Bell scored 25 of his 31 points after half.  Roanoke plays at home Friday against Bridgewater College.

In other ODAC news:

Washington and Lee won at Bridgwater college 69-59.

Randolph Macon loses at Virginia Wesleyan 64-65

Hampden and Sydney throttles Randolph 97-61

EMU loses at Shenandoah 61-65

Guilford wins at home against Averett 76-57

So how many of us had Washington and Lee sitting at #1 towards the end of Janurary in the ODAC? I certainly did not.

Quote from: rmc1982 on January 21, 2026, 09:06:28 AMRMC at VWU in a rare 5 pm start Im assuming to accommodate the ladies game afterwards. I was gonna go but the 5 pm start time prevents that so I guess Ill catch it on FloSports.

How much is FloSports? I've been avoiding paying for it.

$8.99/month for an annual subscription ($107.88) if you pay in advance for a year, or $19.99/month on a month-by-month plan.  Some discounting for .edu email addresses, sometimes schools or conferences will have a special signup link that offers a slight discount as well.  Don't know about the ODAC or schools in the conference.

A FloSports account will let you view all events by those schools that have signed up, not just your own or your conference's.  The quality of broadcast still varies widely from school to school and sometimes within a school from sport to sport.

Thank you for the info. Side note Roanoke and Lynchburg is really close, RC with a 4 point lead 4 minutes before half.

Roanoke with a big win at Virginia Wesleyan yesterday 73-64.  Was a 1 point RC lead at half even though RC got up as much as 9 in the 1st half.  In the second half it was a RC 2 point lead with 2 minutes left but RC's defense played huge and only allowed 1 point in the final 2:44 of the game.

As a Roanoke fan it's awesome to get a good win but also scares me as we have not played that well the next game after winning a big game this season. Roanoke plays at Lynchburg on Wednesday.

In other news around the odac yesterday:

EMU with a big upset and knocks off Averett University 61-58

Hampden Sydney gets a good win against Lynchburg 87-81

Randolph Macon destroys Shenandoah 84-42

Guilford wins at Bridgewater in a big way 108-72

Randolph loses at Washington and Lee 65-77

Quote from: y_jack_lok on January 14, 2026, 08:54:04 PMRMC with a comfortable 103-47 win over Bridgewater. The Eagles were missing a couple of their leading scorers due to the flu. As the game wore on it looked like the Eagle players were running out of energy, so you have to wonder if some of them were a bit under the weather as well.

VWU remains undefeated in conference, downing Lynchburg 70-59.

Roanoke takes care of home court over H-SC 62-47.

Roanoke has another huge game Saturday at the undefeated in conference Virginia Wesleyan. Our defense better be ready to play or we could be embarrassed

Quote from: y_jack_lok on January 14, 2026, 07:31:44 PMThree of tonight's games were 5 p.m. starts. W&L comes back from a 17-point halftime deficit to win 73-69 at Shenandoah. Guilford handles EMU 89-68. Averett downs Randolph 74-55.

Averett is looking legit. Roanoke wins against HSC 62-47 at home. Much better game for Roanoke especially on the defensive end than their last game against Washington and Lee.

Quote from: Tigerfan on January 10, 2026, 04:49:19 PMWhat a gutsy win by the undermanned Gennies at Roanoke!  W&L was missing two starters: Newkirk and Loughlin.  Averett was giving VWU a very hard time before the unfortunate necessity to stop the game with 9+ minutes to go.  I don't know who the stoppage favors.  Averett got stopped when they were playing well, but VWU will have quite a bus trip for a 9 minute game unless they hang around Danville tonight.  RMC got the 10 point win; I note Gabe Proctor only played 4 minutes.  Injury?

Yeah I didn't see this loss coming for Roanoke.  Seems like the game was close the entire time. This puts Roanoke in a big hole with trying to get a top seed in the ODAC tourney (if we even make it).  It has been a really up and down season for Roanoke so far.  It finally looked like Roanoke was getting the ship right with a big win at Shenandoah and then take a loss to W and L. Tomorrows game against Hampden Sydney will be huge for us in order to try to put ourselves in a good position for the tourney.

Quote from: rmc1982 on December 06, 2025, 06:39:35 PMSEATFILLER- Your Maroons played well today and had us on the ropes!! Nice hard nosed man to man defense on us kept us off balance all day and made us work for everything we got! Kudos to your boys for a good game we very easily could have lost! We were fortunate enough to sink our FT at the end! Now we go on exam break and then on to Nashville for a tournament just before Christmas and then back in the COTU for our tournament before wading into the meat of the grueling ODAC gauntlet in January! All in all we're better off than many thought we'd be!! A lot of the credit goes to Coach Merkel and his staff for keeping our young men on an even keel through this tough early schedule!! 🐝🐝🐝GO JACKETS!!🐝🐝🐝

RC played good just not good enough. I'm proud of them but like Ric Flair use to say "In order to be the man, you have to beat the man" and Roanoke has not beaten RMC in a long time.

In other news RC on Friday plays the University of Redlands who look on paper to be a really good team. In all of their wins the least amount they scored was 93. In their one loss they only scored 63. RC the day after plays Wilson College who's 3-7 record isn't impressive but they've lost 3 games by 5 or fewer points so they won't be a walk through game.
