Check out Venturacountystar, com as what is going on for California Lutheran Kingsmen Football

The sky is blue, water is wet, and CLU brings in another former D1 QB because they can't develop a viable starting QB.

....but what do I know...I'm sure the new one will light up the SCIAC on the way to a title/playoff berth.

Redlands always recruits well after a SCIAC title year so I'm sure they will have a few new faces to welcome him when he and the Regals make their way east to "The Runner". Go Dawgs!

Redland's previous SCIAC title year was 2007 (shared title with CLU) ... and in the year after (2008) they finished 4-2 in SCIAC (3rd place, with a loss to CLU at the Runner in the season finale). You were probably talking about the 90's again.

I always thought these are what got the serious talent to Redlands:

Welcome back, K4.

At first I was going to lie and say I didn't watch it. BUT ... after further review I have to say, the most impressive thing I have seen in any of your video productions over the years was captured in this video ... I don't know if it was CGI or some new special effects you added, but I actually saw chicks in the Linfield stands. I was under the impression you guys only let middle aged men in overalls sporting summer teeth into your games.

Also not going to look through 100 pages of posts on here to see if this was already mentioned but my all time favorite receiver Eric Rogers recently got signed to the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL after tearing up the AFL for 9 weeks as one of the league's leading receivers (NOTE: HIS QB ON MOST OF THOSE TD's WAS AN OXY ALUM IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN?). I am happy that he no longer has to plow into walls when catching TD's ... lot more space on a CFL field.

I am willing to bet that after a slew of NFL receiver injuries he will end up on an NFL practice squad this year and keep the dream alive.

Cat, Check out Mac's post today. Pretty interesting and I love those kinds of stories. I know he reads this board sometimes because he has made an Oxy Bob reference. It's cool, he made his point. Once again for the record Mac is a quality guy and coach. His ex-players respect and swear by him which is a great accomplishment. I tell high school kids to check out his program and have no problem is my family member want to play for him.  Just a little fun during the boring season.

Regarding recruiting in the SCIAC, it all comes down to who has the best linemen. It so tough in the SCIAC to find quality guys that can help up front as freshman. They really have to build them, most of the time. UR, CLU, Chapman, and Oxy...this season will come down to whose front play the best not the skills, all the teams have some pretty good skills players.

Totally disagree with you. I've read his blog and think he is a smug, cocky jerkoff. He's a perfect fit to lead that program because my experience playing them says the same thing for their players. He thinks his Cal Who program is on the level of Mt. Union when reality says they will be a flash in the pan. La Verne had a similar run in the 90's and have not been heard from since. Can't wait for The Who to go back to their usual third place finish in the SCIAC. Go Dawgs!

Since Mac took over: 5 of 7 years conference champs ... had a streak of 25 consecutive SCIAC wins (including 5 wins in a row vs Redlands) and the schools first 4 NCAA playoff appearances. We have finished lower than 2nd place only 3 times in the last 13 years (1 of which was last year's 4th place finish). So a long flash in a big pan.

Mac is the man, I would be tired of him too if I was a Redlands guy.

BTW if anyone asks, I forgot my password ... Had nothing to do with our record last year. Ready to argue with any of you pillow fighting, excuse making, 90's good times reminiscing, embarrassing white rapper youtube loving, hack Redlands fans anytime.

Well Kingsman4?
Chiming in this year?

I have not been to Redlands since the solute game a couple of years ago where K4 almost got me jumped by a bunch of drunk dogs during the decisive missed field goal at the end of the game.
The ticket pricing structure is way confusing. Near as I can figure there is a game admission of $7 and then a $10 admission if you want to go party where they actually serve wine and beer on the field (absolutely ZERO Southern Baptist contributions coming in any more?) and 'gourmet' food trucks.
That grass surface is just immaculate.

Nothing to report here ... wasn't able to make it out to camp this year but in talking to Coach Mac, we should be good. Less hype and "big names" then we have had in the past. Hopefully that is a good thing. We will beat Linfield at Linfield this year. I don't have any stats, insight, or any real logic behind that prediction, but it has to happen. Sometime. Hopefully.

Thanks Oxy,

UR opens against #3 MHB, then at #13 PLU as per D3 Football.com

Week 4, CLU #18

It can not get much tougher, early in the year.

PLU at home followed by Linfield in a place we have not found a way to win yet will be a tough way to open the season for CLU. Luckily we have Redlands week 4 to soften the schedule a bit (that is my signature CLU mentality talking, which since you asked comes from either yearly water boarding and shock therapy in camp at CLU ... OR ... Redlands inability to win a game against CLU in the past 5 years ... no one really knows for sure).

I agree with you regarding UR's stadium. I like it even better now that the couches  that were near the end zone are gone.

Any word on how CLU will replace their awesome receiver from last year?

We won't. At best we will have 2-3 guys that can combine for his stat line last year.

UR is at CLU this year, CLU broadcast video for free..it is the game I would check out...even if UR is 0-2...I know CLU fans will be upset but I think UR was just as good or slightly better than CLU at the end of the season. Mainly because our QB did not get it together until the end of the season. CLU won the game fair and square...no doubt..they were the champs, UR just got hot at the wrong time...the PLU game cost UR a wild card spot...UR did not get it done on the field when it was time to do it,  so they deserved not to go to the playoffs...

Like I said in the past, if QB and O line play is just decent. I think the defense will keep them in games early.  UR with the all the d front back (total 7 good players back, a couple injured starters back too, and moved a couple athletes to defense in spring), run stop should be ok early...If UR can get a push out of just their D line on the pass...then they have chance against a real slick PLU QB/WR combo and a Cal Lu D1 bounce back QB..
You know MHB will surface with a couple D1 bounce backs...out of no where in the skills positions. Makes one work hard this summer...

If, but, almost .........

Hey, hey, hey...you and I (and all of the CLU fans in the stands) know darn well that it's the ref's fault CLU keeps losing these games.

Between him and the bumbling CLU photog it wasn't a banner day for the home team supporters.  I did try to catch up with K4 after the game but the only thing I found was a puddle of tears on the sideline where he was standing the whole game.

I still don't know why they didn't target Rodgers more?   ;D

Could have found me at PJ's in a puddle of beer.

The phone lines must be working just fine as they open at home against Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Great opportunity for UR and the SCIAC to play the best of the best. Good move scheduling the game for September 7, when the average temperature in Redlands is 95F. Maynard must have told UMHB that Redlands is near the beach.

OxyBob

If they can tell their recruits that, why not their potential opponents?  :o

Now that we have taken care of that bunch, are you going to back the Cats ?

Can someone explain Hurst being named 1st-team All-SCIAC at QB and Shultis not even making the team?
Bitter much?

Not one gracious word of congratulations by the C-LU fans to Rogers, Romello, Austin, Pankow, Younker, Cabrera, Minor, Olson, Monroe, and Cozine, just a bunch of petty whining about Shultis.

OxyBob

Good to see plenty of CLU names on the list, especially the O-line who was the best that I have seen at CLU. All very deserving. If the SCIAC coaches had to vote purely off of the best players in the conference, they would obviously all be from Cal Lu :D ... but in order to maintain fairness they gave Redlands a QB and a Kicker.

RFB ... 0-5
