Congrats to SCIAC Player of the week Scott Saunders and the Tigers on another well deserved win. Great teams find a way to win even on their off nights. For the last couple of weeks the Tigers have struggled one way or another and they've still found a way to get the win.
Quote from Pat Coleman:
"Because the way in which they lost is key to understanding their mind-set, which is only what the entire column is about."
Sorry Pat, I didn't check the FAQ page before asking this and I assume it's on there, but who gives a dip about Redlands and their program? They lost to a superior team last Saturday. When does the mindset of a team losing to a superior team ever make national news? Especially when it has become a tradition for that team to lose to that superior team every year. Oxy has made putting Redlands in its place a healthy tradition. Where's the story on that?
I guess I do understand the underlying point of the article: Hey Redlands, it is okay that Oxy beats you every year. Obviously, even after six straight, your program still can't gratefully swallow a loss to the Tigers but worry not, you still have a shot at the playoffs if you win out.
I wouldn't be holding my breath for both Oxy and Redlands in the playoffs together. In the last six years Redlands has lost to Oxy six times. In every season but one they followed up that loss with another SCIAC loss somewhere down the road.
