Into the Blue. With Westminster hosting this year, will we have discussion of the gym be cleared between games? Like they did at Blackburn.

It will be a heck of a road trip for Eureka and MacMurray fans. Will it be a friday/saturday set up? I would guess either IL. team would stay in Fulton over night.

Westminster is a tough place to win. But, I think Webster will make a good showing for themselves this evening. Just a hunch.

Fontbonne has gone from the "The Abyss and as HS_PG said, "Not much talent looking down the bench", to a team everyone is looking at. It couldn't have anything to do with coaching.

MacMurray better drive a stake through Fontbonne's heart to night. I would not want to be the #1 seed, if the conference let's the 'Ol Coach and his boy's get up off the deck.

Hopefan - Like Fontbonne replaced Branch's 20 pts, Webster should be able to do the same, without Jones. I think that alot will depend on a guy like Ortwerth. Webster doesn't have to face a dominant post the rest of the way. As a senior Ortwerth should be able to score more. Whitcombe being a senior has a lot to play for and he was able to contribute last year. You don't replace. The rest need to step up.

Just a while back the discussion was, "will Fontbonne get their fifth win against Blackburn?". Now it's a big game at MacMurray? If Fontbonne dismisses the conference leading scorer's 20 points and beats 1.2.3 straight, does that say something about the level of competition this year? Kudos to the Griffin team for stepping up and showing some school pride. But, Fontbonne has 5 games against teams they already have loss to. @Mac @Spaulding @Prin ?

It would be nice to see Coach McKinney get number 800. For a while I thought it was going to be tough to get this year.

If the Bluejays I saw at Fontbonne show up. Webster has a good chance. I have not seen the Westminster team that's 11-1.

Webster needs to re group and find their mojo.

I guess I was pointing one finger at myself. I had high hopes. I heard Westminster had the size to match up. They beat Elmhurst on the road. Is walking through their conference and then the regional ranking. I had my hopes pretty high. Just would like to see a draw without a #1 in front of it.

My Bad. I thought this would be a better team to get a good draw with a only one in region loss. Just looking to put a W in the SLIAC column.

Hopefan all I'm saying is Westminster SLIAC Conference Champ, #8 ranked Midweat team, and the team we're hanging our hat on (to break the NCAA ice). Should not lose to the #7 team and need overtime to beat #6, in one of the worst conferences. Even if on the road.

Only having seen them once (Fontbonne loss) I was expecting a lot better team. They had beat Fontbonne by 30 at home. Fontbonne's gym is not a 46 point home court advantage.

Does Westminster really have a chance to win "a" NCAA game? Are we getting our hopes to high? The win at Elmhurst showed they could go on the road. And, I know they are down this year.

Has anyone else noticed Webster's Nick Jones started and only played five minutes? Injury?

Hopefan - The class of the conference, has just stumbled through a two game week against two bottom four teams. Going 1-1. Could of been 0-2.

Their early big lead in conference race, could have them a little less focused then they need to be.

Suprised by the way Eureka beat Webster. They seem to be stumbling towards the tourney.

Now is a time for the top teams to get on a run. As to be peaking at the right time.

Forgot to mention the turn out of Former Sliac players wednesday nite at Fontbonne. Buxton, Warnecke and I believe it was Sodderman in the Westminster group. Jones and McKoy from MU. And, quite a few Fontbonne players. Saw Storandt enjoying the game with FCNews. Good o' FC. He was definately the biggest "HOMER" on this board. Diehard follower. I miss his and Hopefan's exchanges. But, I would agree it may be best for him to go into early D3Hoops retirement.

Rumor heard: Any truth to the word that Jarrett McKoy may be wearing purple and gold next year?

Region 8 women's basketball / Re: SLIAC
February 04, 2010, 09:11:44 PM
Wow I'm asking a women's SLIAC Basketball question. Caught the last half of the Fontbonne v Westminster game. Westminster is a big team and shoots well. Fontbonne is just fun to watch. Had to look at a program to see names. Kendra Schilli is my kind of player. Callista Collier is high energy and gets to the ft. line and shoots the ball well. Kaitlin Brammel can play basketball. She may turn out to be one of the best pts. I have paid attention to.

Any comments on POY or All Conference? What needs to transpire for the tournament to be in the STL?

Into the Blue - previous post. I wasn't saying I knew where Westminster was going. I meant they could go to Iowa, Neb. Wesleyan or Ark. if one of those teams were to host. Not this year on all three.

Hopefan you were discussing the post season tourney. And, I have yet to see him win a big game. Meaning to get to the game for a shot at a berth. Bunch does a great job. But, in this conference it all rides on the tourney. And, so far he hasn't faired well. Alot of that could fall to players also.

I want to see Coach Bunch get his chance as much as the next guy.

Well it was a tough decision. But, I wanted a chance to see Westminster this year. I was not expecting the game I saw.

After being back and forth early, win Fontbonne took the lead they never looked back. With the season Fontbonne has had I didn't expect the effort they put on the floor.

Fontbonne was not the most talented team, it just seems they wanted it more. Every last player on the Fontbonne squad contributed energy. Foresst was very steady through out. Did most of his scoring around the basket. Zeollner hit some big shots to stop runs. Thomas is a heck of an athlete, needs more touches. It was a team rebounding effort.

Westminster's Visalay is a very talented player. I could see him as POY. Millard's night was tough because Foresst played some tough D. A good match up to watch. Westminster still has way more talent then any team I've seen this year. And probably would make the best team to represent the SLIAC in the NCAA's. They need to bounce back though. Don't let this loss linger.

if for no other reason that once again, I place high value on Coach Bunch's game plan abilities.

Sorry Hopefan. But, Coach Bunch has yet to prove to me that he is a big game coach. Mac may be the team Westminster would least like to meet.

Wish the tourney was going to be in St. Louis.

Congrats Coach McKinney. One more to go.

Thanks GS for the info. Yes I knew he had a HS career also. That's why I said career wins. As oppose to college wins, since he was honored in the Milestone section of D3Hoops.

Some big games tomorrow nite. It will either enlighten or confuse the tourney picture.

Does anyone know if a SLIAC team has gone undefeated in conference and won the tournament? I remember Webster's perfect season 3 years ago and the tourney upset. I don't recall the last team to do it before Webster.

I don't think Fontbonne is capable of derailing Westminster.

Considering the whole Landon Kurz PED scandal  ;D, I'm suprised that there is even a Frostbite to post. If he did post how much creditability could you give it.

The whole regional ranking thing. The SLIAC champs will be a 16 seed untilfurther notice. Webster was regionally ranked and maybe could of got a little break in the draw, the year they went undefeated through the SLIAC. But, they lost their first round conference tourney game. So I guess we'll never know.

Westminster may have achance to travel south or north to Iowa. Mac and EC would both be in a position to be placed several places. Webster will probably be sent down Big Bend. In any case, our chances for a first rd. win don't look any better this year.

Just my HO.

SLIAC Zebra's being discussed? No, really. Most will give you the old, "That's enough." But, their is that group that Hopefan speaks of. There are several that will slap ya quick. I would say he had been chirppin' or he said the wrong word. And it doesn't have to start with an "F".

But, with 3minutes to go. Best case Fontbonne makes 2 ft's. Did they make them? Possesion stays the same. Don't believe it effected the game. It seemed that the last team with the ball was going to win. 4-5 seconds is a long time.

Question: Do you like the no timeout? Fontbonne must of they won. Most coaches are cut and dry on the decision. Either do or don't. I personally like the no time out, if you've worked on it. There is also do you have the best players for the moment. Calling a time out also gives the other team a chance to get set.

I like the move.
