I am suprised no one has brought up "shoegate" '05 this week.

At least this time, Wesley will not be able to complain if they bring the wrong cleats to the game.

Superfan or any orange and blue,

Any talk in pville of a possible coaching change for next year ... it was rumored earlier this year that whitewater wanted to open up their offense with the spread and was lookin at the pville coachin staff for the replacement for Brez ... HAHA ... JUST KIDDING purple persons ... no but in all seriousness .. i know mikeys one year contract extension is up and this was a do or die season for him ... and does a 500 season do it with a so called rebuilding year for half the WIAC with only one seemingly solid team (WW of course, not STOUT) and pville had a team full of experienced seniors?? :-\ .. or does the administration feel more confident with his offense now that pville produced a thousand yard rusher for the first time in 15 years?? .. lets hear your take on the situation

In all honesty, I would like to see a replacement.  I have heard him make a statement about being able to win once "his" recruits were seniors (the three years after he first took the position).  That was a few years ago, and he has yet to have a quality WIAC season (by quality, I mean >.500).  Kinder was removed as head coach for lack of production, and although he has had higher winning percentages than Kinder, he hasn't really produced.  So, if we judge on that criteria, he should go.  On other notes, I know that there were quite a few players that have not liked him as a coach (I am sure there were just as many that liked him), and I know of at least one action not very coach-like in his past (I will not post that material on this site).  However, I have a feeling he will be around next year.  I guess we will have to see what the AD has to say in a few weeks/months.

One more thing I didn't want to edit into my post because it is a little off the topic.

In the off-season there was talk of the two Badgers (a RB and DB- i forgot their names and I am too lazy to find them) possibly transferring to UWW.  As we all know, it never happened and it really does not matter anymore now that the season is almost 3/4ths over.  Just to speculate....  How do you think those two could/would have contributed to the UWW team now?  Do you think they would be insignificant?  Do you think having a D1 RB would have helped after seeing Beaver's injury?  Do you think they would have just caused problems and possibly made the team worse?  I am just wondering, and it would be interesting to hear other's responses.

UMHB scores with 1 min left & lead 33-28.  I guess they missed the 2 point conversion.  Sounds like they have a major hangover from last week.  Makes WW's win even more impressive.

Bobo, I am not trying to rip on UWW's performance, nor do I care to get into a pissing match.  I just would like to know how this makes UWW's win even more impressive.  Is it the fact that they held UWHB to only 3 points vs 33 from this week?  Because anyone could put a likey spin on it and say that UWW only scored 7 points via special teams whereas this week UMHB's opponet scored 28.  The fact that UWW and UMHB are playing two different teams could be the difference in the polar opposite outcomes.  Is it that UMHB had numerous injuries after the game with UWW?  Is it a hangover?  Is it the familiarity of the teams which led to a close game?  To me comparing UWW-stout vs UMHB-opponent is apples and oranges.  In sports, this type of things happens much to often, however, I don't see others making the reference to it being impressive.  Just wondering how you see it as imressive. (I could be wrong, and maybe I just need clarification to see it).

BTW, I drive a Chevy Lumina.
God Bless.
I want brownies too, Olinemom.

It is tragic that people's names are brought up in rumors.....

Although I somewhat agree with both sides of this incident to a degree, I don't think it is "tragic" that people's names are brought up in rumor's.  Finding that you have cancer in your ass is tragic.

Having your name brought up in a rumor is just a pain in the ass, but it's definitely not "tragic".

Thanks for reading my post.  You guys are the best.

CK,  You just leaped ahead of Captain Kirk and Captain Kangaroo in my book, and you're in a dead heat with Captain Morgan.  :)

Happy 4th of July to you and everyone in the WIAC nation.  8)

I think you forgot to mention everyone's favorite--- Captain Crunch ::)

One quick question.  Stout lists his 2001 stats on there page.  If he received a medical redshirt for that year, are the stats still counted toward his career totals, or are these stats disregarded?  Just wondering.

That's a big negative.  All stats count for any games he played prior to being injured.  Logically, it has to be that way.  What if he had scored a touchdown in a 3-point victory in 2001?  Would you erase the stat and overturn the victory?  Of course not.

I just wondered.  I was looking at is a records perspective.  Let's say a certain RB puts up 800-1000 yards in his first 3 games one season, then gets injured and uses a medical redshirt.  He goes on to set the NCAA record for career rushing yards.  Would there be an asterick by his name because he achieved the record by using more than the "standard/normal" number of games?

I know that some people associated with MUC made a comment about Beaver's record because his record included playoff games, whereas the former record holder did it only in regular season games.  So I guess I just refuted my own question.  ;D  The NCAA changes rules, and as they do, certains records are subject to controversy.

cheers

Alright, let's stop all the hugs and kisses.  It's about time to draw the lines.  Yep, SJU draws more than half of DI, mabey more.  As a WIAC follower, let's just hope the West region goes through Wisconsin.  As for Linfield, an unproven QB, enough said.  We will know after game 2 if it's Cat Nation as usual.   My heart goes out to Stout.  Especially for Wendt, Runk, and Weinstein.  Hope the three can finish their career with an injury free year.

Is that Robert Weinstein??  You've got to be kidding me.  Anyone who graduated high school in 1999 shouldn't be allowed to play college football anymore.  This somehow would be his 7th year of college if this is who Pastprime is referring to.

It appears so.  After checking, it appears he was a red-shirt in 99, and received a medical redshirt in 01.  He did not play in 03 for some reason, then, in 04, he was an assistant coach, only to return in 05.  Therefore, the years that count toward eligibility would be 00, 02, 05, and now again this year.  Could someone certify this assumption?  I went by the 2006 profile page.

One quick question.  Stout lists his 2001 stats on there page.  If he received a medical redshirt for that year, are the stats still counted toward his career totals, or are these stats disregarded?  Just wondering.

sorry for bringing this back up...I have missed the last couple of weeks, so i couldn't respond efficiently.
You can hate me or love my comments, but i have an opinion too  :)

I commend the person who brought up the question regarding stout's WR.  He approached it in the correct manner.  His first word was "rumor."  This would notify everyone who read it that the contents may not be true.  He ended it with something to the effect of "can anyone verify this information?"

He is asking a valid question of something he heard (granted his account seems suspicious).  He never accused the person of doing anything, but brought up a statement that he had heard.  There is no harm in asking if a rumor he heard can be verified.  I think it is better that he came here and asked the question in the way he did, than if he would have walked around campus spreading the rumor that he heard.  We (the regular forum readers) take most negative comments with a grain of salt anyways until they can be proven truthful.

Also, players are repeatedly told that they are representative of the university where they play football.  I am sure that most (if not all) of the recent athletes have been warned by their coaches at some point in their careers (I can not vouch for all) to stay out of trouble- I know my team was.  This society feeds on the negatives in people's life, just pick up the sunday paper, US weekly, Entertainment Weekly, or turn on ESPN.  The news only revolves around the greatness of a person or the horrific things they do.  An athlete's personal life is put in the public's eye because they choose to play a sport (which puts them on a pedestal- which i don't agree with, but can not change)-for reference see Brett Meyer's alleged wife abuse, or Peter Gammon's aneurysm of yesterday's news.  Also, legal matters are of public record, so although some might say it is not our business, it is open for all to see and comment about.

It is tragic that people's names are brought up in rumors, but what we should do is quietly squash the rumors by giving correct information or ignoring the person's who repeatedly accuse (as this forum has done in the past).  This forum has been relatively good at discerning the true from the false, but please do not shoot the messenger if the information is incorrect.

One quick question,

Does anyone know whether Emendorfer's job is in jeopardy at UW-P?  Looking back at his record, he has had nothing but losing seasons (one season was 5-5) since he has taken the head coach position.  I know that they would probably be .500 or better in many other conferences, but in the WIAC, they just aren't producing.  How can the AD handle this?  I thought losing was the same reason Kinder was ousted in the 90's.

Just curious.

Milwaukee's best is to Milwaukee like Foster's is to Australia. They both claim to represent the region, but no one from that region really drinks them.

Not true...Milwaukee's Best is a staple in Milwaukee and the rest of Wisconsin.  Probably one of the most heavily consumed beverages on most campuses (only because of the cost- makes a great house party choice)!

Anyone watch the superbowl?   Did anyone noticed who made the first tackle of the game?

One clue...He was a former D3 player at UWSP...

Congrats to Clint Kriewaldt on a superbowl win...way to make the WIAC proud!!

So who are the "other" WIAC'ers that have potential for getting invites to NFL camps?  I know that there are many great athletes out there, but will any any get a chance or will they have to go play CFL or european leagues for a few years?

The all-conference teams seemed to have more underclassmen on them than usual this year (in my opinion), will this result in a big year for the WIAC in the NFL camps in the years to come?

Enough about the Whitewater scandel (pun intended).  It was said, and might be used for locker room talk next year, but it will probably be forgotten.

New subject...On the home page, they talk about how this year was the highest average winning margin throughout the playoffs.  I ask this...

Is it because there is a larger discrepancy between the "haves" and "have nots"?  If you look at the teams that posted the blow-outs, WW, STJ, MUC, Linfield had the majority.  Yes, wesley had some as well as quite a few other teams in the first round, but the big ones were from the usuals (even though WW isn't a usual).

Or, is it a certain pool that isn't as strong?  I don't know which teams are in which pool, but if all of the pool B teams are getting destoyed, wouldn't that help to change the structure of the selections?

Or, do you think it is just a fluke and next year will be different?

The selections are not based upon "who will represent the WIAC the best,"  or "who had the best collegiate career."  If it was, yes, everyone could complain, but someone has decided that he should show up and play because they want to see what he can do.

You cannot deny the fact that a 6'6" 255lb TE does not have the potential to "bulk up" and become a NFL TE.  Also, the fact that he played D1 ball makes him intriguing.  I guess it doesn't matter why he is there anymore.  All the belly-aching in the world won't change it.  Now, "we" as the WIAC, should support him with the hopes that the scouts will be more inclined to look at other WIAC players in the future.

As for the "classless UWW posters"-  Yes, it is their opinion, and everyone can choose to read it or not.  However, posting that those people are "classless" is also an opinion, so it's that catch-22.  In my opinion, they can complain all they want about it, but when they bring it out into the public's eye, it shows a lack of respect, not only for Docherty, but the selection committee, the WIAC and all the coaches that voted Docherty a 1st team all-conference TE.

It goes back to what a coach once told my team about talking to the press...."never say anything that will disrespect you, your school and/or team."  You would never say "that team sucks, they are no good, we kicked their A$$es" to a reporter?  So why say it on a website (especially if you sign it with your own name).  It is very disrespectful, and in my opinion should not have been said.

Pat

I saw on the notables page that there will be three D-III'ers in the Hula Bowl.  I knew about Hostetler and Elliott but the Osh Kosh tight end was news to me.  After reading his stats I was curious how he got the nod.  It seems like he wasn't used much.  Does he have an NFL body or something?  Is he a possibility at the next level?

Also I read Elliott will be playing on the East squad with Hos.  Is this correct?  I am guessing if it is correct that the Hula Bowl people needed another QB in the East so they "threw the D-III kid over to that side".  Just wondering.

Re: Who you'd like to see next year

With all due respect to Linfield, who would really want to see Linfield minus Elliott and Allen take on the Raiders next year?  If you asked about this season, then yeah I would have loved to see the two teams play but next year is too little, too late.  If you wanna pick a West team to play MUC next year, I would think Whitewater vs. MUC II would be the best choice.

Reality Check,
I might not have my facts exactly correct, but I do know somethings.  Docherty from UW-O was playing for the Wisconsin Badgers (don't know if he started) about 2 years ago.  He was doing well, but I think an injury ended his season.  He then transfered to UW-O (he is originally from the area), but don't know the reason why he transferred.  Sounds just like Elliot from Linfield, huh?
Like Pat said, the guy can block.  This should be clear seeing that he was playing D1 as an underclassman at a big-time running program.  There has been talk about his work ethic on the WIAC page, but I can not speak to that.  As Pat mentioned his ht and wt, I think it is his frame that has attracted the scouts to want to see him play against the "big-boys" again.

Hope this helps
