As for the piling on and  from the Comish no less.. I can only assume from your defensive responses that you both actually attended MIAC schools for undergrad.

I attended The Catholic University of America, in Washington, D.C., a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Does this help? You can look that up on the site, you know, rather than speculating foolishly.

I wasn't speculating...just trying to add humor.  Sorry I hit a nerve.  To make up for it may I offer my admiration of DC schools.   My sis is a Gallaudet grad.  I lived in the district for awhile with GW connection.  But yes my heart bleeds Blu and Gold.  And yes they've always been an unpredictable team.  In my day the hardwood was the focus of attention and Zorn arena had more fans rockin' the rafters than fill some of the WIAC Football stadiums( yesterday or today)  Ahhhh but that was a lifetime ago, and the Blu And Gold Hoops of yore are no more...although we're hopeful for the new coach era. :). But that would be a comment for another board.

The posts regarding the second team into the playoffs  provide great commentary.  Valid points and perspective all around.

Looks like Pat scared away another one......It appears Blugold 89.7FM closed his d3boards account.

Perhaps. Not my intention, to be sure, but I was glad that other WIAC fans agreed that his premise didn't make any sense.
I'm really sorry Blugold is gone.  I enjoyed talking UWEC with him.  Blugold - if you're still reading - email me at fballfan@hotmail.com if you wish so we can continue to talk.
LEt's see.  Prime quit.  Has Emma posted lately? Blugold has left.  I can understand why.  Anytime someone posts something that is disagreed with, it appears that some of you (not all - most of you are fine) take that as an invitation to come out with both barrels blasting.  Or get a few little digs in.  One poster on here actually deleted some of his posts after re-reading them.  Why do you think you don't get many other posters?
Seriously....is it necessary to post that someone is "speculating foolishly"?  Wow.  That's a slam in my book. You guys that have been around for awhile may know it all...or think you do (in some circumstances I'm not sure)....but you show little tolerance for others.  Badgerwarhawk stated it nicely when he said he could understand because he once thought that way too.
Or perhaps some of you just need to re-read your emails before you post and really think about how you sound.
Sometimes I don't believe some of you really want to attract new posters.  There isn't much tolerance for anyone who thinks differently than some on here.
And I know...someone is going to post "if you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen" or something of that sort, because I saw something similar in the years past.

I can understand where he was coming from because quite frankly I was of the same opinion when I first started posting here.  But I think after you've been around awhile you get a better sense of how things work and your preconceived notions are dispelled. Besides nobody wants to listen to the 600 pound gorilla whine. ;D ;)

What does that comment about the 600 lb gorilla mean?  I could take that several ways.

I think it's because they exist in a larger television/media market.  GB TV covers St Norbert more than Oshkosh.  And all the d3 programs live in the shadow of the Packers coverage.  where as LaCrosse , Eau Claire, Stout and Point get regular coverage and radio coverage and Lots of ink on the old-fashioned press and in the web sites.  Oshkosh doesn't get that kind of coverage.  That coverage is like advertising.

Exactly.  And to take it a step further, Oshkosh is over by several private schools (Ripon, Lakeland, Marion, Lawrence, ST Norbs etc) who probably draw some locals/alumni.  The privates are over on the east side, there are not many that I am aware of surrounding LaX, EC, UWSP etc.  And while Marquette and UWMil don't have a football team, they do generate school loyalties and it possible people just don't think of UWO.  It's a shame.  It was also mentioned that UWO televises its games on the campus.  I don't know if other schools do that, but doesn't that discourage student attendance?  I grew up near UWSP and they were always on the local news and in the papers.  But hey...what else is near Stevens Point?  And what else is there to do but go to a local college game?  We didn't have any big city attractions to occupy us either.  The internet video is really nice for those who don't live nearby, but I can see that eroding fan attendance also.  Particularly when the weather isn't the greatest!

or of course we could continue to discuss attendance at Titan Stadium on Saturday.....

LOL!!!     I have been trying to understand why the attendance at Oshkosh has been such a topic of discussion.  3863 people.  Almost as many posts discussing it.  Hey Blugold - 4429 at UWEC.  Got any pics to post???   ::)  I prefer to see the side of the stadium with the blue and gold.

...read back a few pages. Last week there was considerable talk coming out of Oshkosh that they were trying to fill Titan Stadium (or at least set an attendance record) for the UWW game. A student group called the Yellow and Black's (I may be wrong on the name) have been attempting to drum up support among UW-O students to attend game. Oshkosh hasn't enjoyed great attendance support for football or basketball, from either the campus community or the city of Oshkosh. But, they have a good product on the field. I believe they actually beat EC in EC a couple weeks ago if I'm not mistaken. Looks like they fell short of their goals, however. Hope they don't get discouraged. Good to see Eau Claire supporting their team with a nice crowd.
Yes, they did beat EC in EC.  Is that your not so subtle dig because I found it amusing that some of you find the attendance at a UWW game is of that much interest?  I knew some of you couldn't take a little ribbing. But either way, the ec/oshkosh game was a good game, good crowd and good fun. And Oshkosh brought a decent crowd and the fans I met were pretty cool.
go ahead, take your shots.   I don't play your game.  I hope Oshkosh continues their success and wish them the best.  Of course,  I wish that for my blugolds also  ;

And take my karma away...I really don't care.  I am sure I will manage to offend somebody.   :o

There has been a break, sort of, in the information blackout out of Oshkosh on the status of UWO quarterback Nate Wara for tomorrow's 1st place showdown game with U-Dub-Dub....

The following is an exerpt from today's Oshkosh Northwestern preview story of tomorrow's game.

One question mark will come with who is starting at the quarterback position for the Titans. Starter Nate Wara left last week's game with an injury. Backup Nick Olla came in and preformed solidly, throwing for 100 yards and scoring on a running touchdown against the Pioneers in Wara's absence.

Although Cerroni wouldn't divulge who would be taking the snaps on Saturday against he Warhawks, he was certain that his offensive output would be just the same under either quarterback.

"We are very fortunate to have two quarterbacks that we built this offense around," he said. "I think we are going to be all right."

Sounds to me like Wara's out.
Unless that's what Cerroni wants everyone to think.  The plot thickens....

I wonder whether Oshkosh's option offense comes from the addition of John O'Grady, former Falcon coach, to their coaching ranks. O'Grady ran the wishbone at RF for years before he abandoned it about three years before he retired. I looked earlier on the Oshkosh site,  but could not find him listed as an assistant coach.

Read below from an article in Eau Claire newspaper after the EC/Osh game:

"We got lucky there on the goal line at half," UW-Oshkosh coach Pat Cerroni said. "I think that was a momentum booster. That allowed us to stay with our game plan and adjust off it. That was big. That was probably the play of the game."

The Titans ran a lot of spread offense in the first half. But in the second half, they went almost exclusively to the option and had the Blugolds on their heels.

With quarterback Nate Wara directing the attack, UW-Oshkosh outgained UW-Eau Claire 228-101 after halftime. The Titans got a safety on the Blugolds' first offensive possession then fourth-quarter touchdown runs from Wara and Budiac.

The option is a new dimension for the Titans this season. Helping guide that offense is former UW-River Falls coach John O'Grady, who joined Cerroni's staff as assistant head coach this season.

"It's just, honestly, a perfect fit for us," Cerroni said. "This is what I envisioned it to be. It helped us out today a ton. We got the big run plays and kind of wore them out and just played WIAC football here at the end."

I came across this - thought you might like it.  What's a BLUGOLD?

BLUGOLD: A state of mind, sense of pride, inner confidence and incomparable positive attitude that encompasses the student body of the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire symbolized by two colors, Blue and Gold.

Hmmm...  I remember asking the UWEC players what a bluegold was while we would be in pre-game warm ups on the field.   Would always get the same response: F%&* Y%# Pisswater.  It must have been the way I asked the question I guess. ::)
LMAO!

Blugold - agree with you on all points.  If Platteville is healthy, I expect them to come on strong.  And EC/LaX...I believe EC will come out far ahead...but then you never know.  WIAC teams are full of surprises, any given Saturday, and I think LaX is on the upswing and will continue to improve throughout the year.

Ok I realize it's a night for baseball with the Brewers but is anyone watching the Eau Claire-Oshkosh game?

I am, and I'm impressed with Eau Claire.  Did you happen to see the EC QB shove #2 shortly after the pass play that got them to the goal line before half (where they later fumbled)?  Was that a shove of "nice play" or was that a shove of anger?  They had to call a timeout on the play he shoved him, not sure if there was a disagreement.
don't recall the shove, but did the shove occur right after the pass that #2 caught?  And then timeout occurred right then...before another play?  That's interesting for a couple of reasons. Will have to ask someone who may know more than I do....

I agree with Emma, and I would even if it was my team who was dominant.  It makes WIAC much more exciting and interesting to the fans of EVERY team if there is actually a question as to who is going to win conference every year.
I know you WW fans like to win every game, every year, no exceptions but it isn't the best thing for WIAC or D3 football as a whole when one or two teams dominate every year.  It isn't much fun for everyone else and it certainly doesn't bring the fans in for WIAC overall.  I heard somewhere that attendance is down at WIAC games.  I don't have any figures...I don't know...but if its true, that isn't good and it could be because we have one dominant team in our conference.
If the Packers and the (pick any team) were at the SuperBowl every year, pro football would begin to lose its interest.  Not only does it get too predictable, but it stops being a feather in the cap for the winners also.  If you do it every year...ho hum....

Then it's up to the coaches of other programs to step up their game. Because I guarantee the UWW coaching staff won't start taking other teams lightly b/c it's in the best interest for the WIAC and/or DIII.

I didn't mean to imply WW should take anyone else lightly or take it easy.  I just said it would be more interesting if there was more parity.

Was Nue sick on Saturday...or was it just nerves that got him sick?

I don't know why anyone would think or say it was nerves????
I heard he had stomach issues but he was OK.  (Saying I heard means I heard - don't know for sure.) But I do know that right before he started throwing up he made a run to the outside to get out of bounds.  In order to do it, he took a diving leap over some players to get to the outside and landed on some defenders.  According to the newspaper, he took an elbow to the gut.  Couldn't see well...people were standing up.  Anyway....right after that he started throwing up.  If you watch the game, I'm sure you will see it.
In spite of it, he continued to play with confidence.  I saw no indication of nerves.

Or if Eau Claire wins out.
I like this what if game   ;D

One thing I noticed is that Neu was not spreading the ball around as much as he has done in previous games.   The TEs usually have a lot of passes thrown their way.  Will have to watch the game and try to absorb it a little more.  Maybe they were covered better.  Sure miss instant replay!
