Why are New Englanders so arrogant? Do you really believe that the only choice is Nescac or Curry? What about Patriot Leage, Davidson and the Pioneer League, how about Pomona, Whitter, Claremont? I know most in the Nescac can't believe it, but there are some very smart young men who don't go to Choate or Exeter and do attend these other schools because the football is better.

It really is a shame that the NESCAC conference is so restrictive for football. I really don't understand why this league continues to restrict the number of games, times of practice, and no playoffs etc. Even with the higher academic requirements there are a lot of "qualified students" who would love to attend NASCAC schools but will not because of these restrictions. Most of the high schools now pay anywhere from 10-14 games depending on the playoff. It is really difficult to recruit given that the league restricts to 8 games. What academically and athletically gifted student wants to go backwards. Doesn't happen in basketball or hockey or field hockey for that matter. There are certainly no post-season restrictions for these sports. Many academically successful students who love football have had a longer season in Pop Warner. The league should review these policies because they are restricitng qualified candidates from even applying. I know that there are some on this board who believe this is the way it has always been...tradition, however these schools are missing an opportunity to broaden their student base . It can't be economics as most of the schools endowments are among the highest in the country. This league could be the best D-3 league in the country without scarificing academic integrity!!!
