Hopefully Whitworth can bounce back this week against Pomona-Pitzer. There were some definite positives last week against Chapman and some things the team needs to improve on. Chapman did a great job of shutting down the rushing game after the first quarter and applying more pressure on the QB. Hopefully Whitworth can improve those areas this week and come out strong this Saturday.

Anyone know how far in advance teams usually announce the travel squad? I realize this isn't high school anymore and that family's probably aren't a high priority to the college football teams, but it seems like they'd like to give as much advance notice as possible for parents to make travel plans, etc.

So, it looks like I'm going to make the trek to Chapman next weekend...any Whitworth or Chapman fans want to give me some advice on someplace nice to stay that won't break the bank? (whitworth is already doing that
) Also, realistically with the traffic, how much time am I looking at to get back to LAX on Sunday morning if I stay close to Chapman?
Thanks!!!

I'm thinking positive, but there may be a few beatdowns this season since the Pirates will have a new QB, new RB, a couple new WR and several new players starting on Defense.

Thanks everyone. Hopefully he makes the travel team because he said that the team is flying down on Thursday, doing Disneyland on Friday and then playing Saturday night. Disneyland will be fun for those that get to go.

@Bearcat...I already registered and paid via paypal for the Kickoff preview that is due to come out on Tuesday...looking forward to it. The Spokesman Review supposedly has a reporter whose bio states he covers Shock FB, Whitworth FB and Gonzaga Basketball...Shock FB and Gonzaga Bsk are both pretty slow right now, you'd think he'd have time to hit a Whitworth practice or two or at least do an interview with Coach Tully
@Dahlby...I saw the press release on the Whitworth athletic webpage...Yes, I have a freshman on the Whitworth team this year. Wondering if I need to get a ticket to So Cal for Labor Day weekend and when the team will know who makes the travel team.

Anyone out there a Whitworth fan from the Spokane area? I find it frustrating that the Spokane newpaper had articles every day this week about WSU, UofW and/or the Eastern Eagles but has yet to have a preview or article about the Whitworth Pirates FB team.
