Congratulations to Nichols' coach Tyler Hundley for notching his 100th coaching victory yesterday versus Johnson and Wales. The majority of that total came at Worcester State (82-55). He has added 18 wins at Nichols.

I attended an excellent four team tournament at Keene State this weekend. It featured four pretty well matched teams who played four outstanding games. Three of the four teams (KSC, WPI, and St Joe's of Maine) won their conference regular season titles last year and played in the NCAA tournament. All three were picked as the preseason favorite to finish on top of their respective Conference this year. The fourth team, Nichols, is still rebuilding their program after a decade of dominance in the CNE. Friday's first game saw WPI come back late in the second half against an injury depleted ST Joe's team to advance to the final. Keene and Nichols went toe to toe for most of the game before Keene asserted their size and shooting prowess pulling away late in the second half. Saturday's consolation game was a thriller which went down to the final possession with St Joe's missing a point blank follow at the buzzer to lose by two. Unfortunately, St Joe's was missing their top three scorers. In the final, WPI and Keene also were locked in a slower paced back and forth game with Keene able to prevail with a late surge. I can honestly say that every team could have won this tournament if it were played again although Keene was the most impressive team and a worthy champion. They had the edge in size, quickness and three point shooting in the field. WPI is what one would expect from a Barkley team tough defense and masters of tempo. Nichols displayed great fight and resilience in both games and they should be a factor for a top two or three seed in the CNE, St Joe's really could have used this tournament as a showcase of their squad but for the key players (3 Starters) missing. They still showed that they have excellent depth and outstanding talent. All in all, this was a weekend well spent.

Congratulations to Aaron Nkrumah. Although the OVC is not a top tier Division One Conference it is a data point that there are some Division 3 players who can successfully make the jump to the D1 level.

That looks like a foul to me. I have seen less contact called a foul numerous times this year.

Just stumbled online to the overtime of the Whitwirth/Lewis and Clark game. Very entertaining and well played extra period. There should be no question that Conference play is the best time of the season.
What really stood out to me was the announcers for Whitworth. The best I have heard this year.
Impressive all around.

Hey GNAC followers,
Curious to know you you figure this year's teams shake out. Has there been a preseason poll released yet? What scrimmages have the teams had so far?

June 21, 2024, 08:21:58 AMQuote from: Macon on June 20, 2024, 03:09:39 PMMaybe this has been previously reported, but Will Coble (RMC) will be a graduate student player at App State. But what's even more interesting is that App State has three graduate players this fall, all of whom are Davidson Day School graduates.
Having lived in that area a number of years this comes as no surprise because the coach during these players' time was Ron Johnson. Ron is one of the finest coaches I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He is presently the coach at Providence Day School in Charlotte.
