If carthage truly gets in i will be happy with the progress div 3 has made on getting the best teams in
.... I played on teams that would have gotten a made noise in the tourney but will left out with 18+ wins playing in the cciw.
great to see... good luck to all cciw squads

February 25, 2014, 06:30:15 PM2 losses for the Red Men that will drive Bosko crazy are the @ elmhurst and Aug home gme... Carthage played poorly in both. Either win would have put them in the 3 seed and probably put them in the NCAAs based on Qs projection.
I just dont see them stopping IWU at the Shirk. 90-80 is likely and then pray for no upsets. I do think Carthage would be a toughs out in tournament. Maybe Bosko has something up his sleeve for friday, although his record at the Shirk is like most other coaches

For the more casual observer
how are conference tourney losses figured... Carthage will end up with 1 more loss if they do not win the conference tourney. Do they have any shot of a pool C with this many losses still... It seems like 6 or 7 was a max in the past

If IWU has home games in the NCAA they are going to be very difficult to beat....the biggest difference between them and everyone else in the league is great depth... They move guys in and out with no real drop off.
I also agree with the officiating in the league being just terrible... they need younger blood, new blood. somebody inform ken marchiarka.
Carthage played ok last night but just arent a championship team. Malcom is a great individual scorer but holds the ball. They have no, i mean no inside game to speak of and Marlon Senior has to play well to give them some inside scoring. Mike Kastel defends and rebounds above average but must improve his offensive game for next year. Bosko has done a good job with this group. Maybe they get hot!!! for CCIW tourney, when they shoot wel they can beat any team in div. 3.
Is the pool C sit;uation really that bleak in cciw. I really think all 4 could get in.

Carthage played much better tonight... I really like them pressuring the perimeter the way they did tonight... Did the fact that the CCIW with 4 of the top 6 teams in the region surprise anyone??
Does Carthage still have a solid chance at a bid with L, W finish.... they are gonna have a conference tourney loss as well???

Carthage lives and dies with how they shoot... They lead the league in fg% yet they are a jumpshooting team. When u make shots it covers a lot of weaknesses. Malcom and marlon at one point after Iwu game were both over 50% from field and 3pt line. The last few games I believe they were under 40%. Big swing. Hence scores in the 50s not 70s. Carthage ideally needs to score in the 70s when there good.

Agree with IWU on big game @Carthage tomorrow. If Carthage loses, we will have lost all the momentum of the early season and probably just hold out for the conference tourney. A win should put them in a decent position to play out the rest of the schedule with at least a shot??
at a pool c bid..
Big crowd expected for Alumni game.. should be a much better effort 4 Red Men.

Will be interesting to see how Bosko will be able to revive his guys for a BIG alumni night Saturday... My thoughts are " forget about.... ran into a buzz saw"... Carthage just wasnt ready.
Those kinda games require a different level of effort and attention to detail.... Carthage had neither. Kelly was taken away completely by good defense and no movement on his part to get free looks..Wheaton played like a team that wanted it... well they got it..
