Alrighty group, time to predict the SCAC tournament.

First, predict the the winners of (Trinity vs. Southwestern) and (TLU vs. Centenary).

Then, predict the winner of the winner's bracket game.

Finally, predict the championship matchup, and the winner.

I am going go to go with:

Day 1 winners: Trinity & Centenary
Winners Bracket champ: Trinity
Finals: Trinity over TLU

how will Trinity look to stack up their pitching for the SCAC tournament? I would think Walker, Gray, Speer, but who knows what Scannell will do?

With that said, as long as Centenary wins 2 of 6 against Austin College and Trinity they are in. I foresee them going 3-3, and in the occurrence of a tie in the standings with Dallas or Southwestern, Centenary holds the tiebreaker over both teams

I have heard from an AD within the SCAC that it is a 4 team, double-elimination tournament

Another semi key statistic is that TLU fields .975 and TU fields .969

While both are good, TLU really thrives on throwing strikes and letting the defense work. It will be interesting to see how this approach works against a very good offense like TU.

This definitely isn't the Centenary team of last year. I agree that they will have much more experience next year. Their 3 man rotation is solid, but after that the bullpen is a coin flip no matter who they roll out (see box score from game 3 @ TLU if you are skeptical). They are definitely a dangerous team come tournament time due to having 3 solid starters, but the inconsistency in the lineup and bullpen make them very suspect (losses to Southwestern and Schreiner).

I realize that, I was just giving a view of how a team can lose 4 of 5 to a team (like Trinity did to Centenary) in the regular season, but if they win that 1 weekend it erases the regular season grind and meaning.

This would have made the SCAC interesting last year, as Centenary won the regular season, but Trinity took the conference tournament.

It will definitely be an interesting next few weeks in the SCAC. All 3 teams have been very inconsistent lately, yet when they play well they are good enough to beat most teams (Centenary handled Letourneau fairly easily a few weeks ago, but has lost to Schreiner and Southwestern in weekend games) (TLU beat Concordia Tuesday but lost 2 of 3 to Southwestern last weekend). Will these teams be able to put it together for a month stretch run or will we continue to see the Jekyl and Hyde performances?

Interesting baseball taking place in the SCAC today!

Southwestern appears to be poised to take 2 of 3 from Texas Lutheran
Centenary will take 2 of 3 from Schreiner
Trinity lost game 1 of the series to Hendrix
Dallas beats Austin College in walk-off fashion in game 1 of their series

Centenary defeats Schreiner
Southwestern defeats TLU in 13 innings

This will make the Centenary/TLU series in Seguin next weekend much more interesting, IMO

Trinity starts their 3 game series with Hendrix tomorrow
Dallas and Austin College begin their 3 game series tomorrow

Predictions for the upcoming weekend:

TLU sweeps Southwestern
Dallas takes 2 of 3 from Austin College
Centenary sweeps Schreiner
Trinity sweeps Hendrix (non-conference)

Comments, thoughts, Trinity haters?

The SCAC appears to definitely be divided into tiers this year, with Trinity and TLU top tier, Centenary and Dallas middle, and Southwestern, Schreiner, and Austin College all visibly lagging behind. It does hurt Trinity in the aspect that the conference doesn't test them much (although it appears they took Dallas lightly). The ASC does have better talent, as I believe the SCAC bottom tier teams would get beat up pretty bad there also.

Like I said, not saying they are the greatest staff in America, but they have top tier talent. I think you are slighting them just a little bit and basing your opinion on their lack of WS appearances. It is obviously a trend at this point that they haven't been to Appleton, but I don't think it's fair to paint them as an average pitching staff because of that fact.

No disrespect, Spence. I enjoy constructive debates as that what boards like this are for. And I guess we will really find out in May if they are ready to rise to the occasion.

I respect your opinion, but I disagree. You can have the Austin College pitching staff and their 87 walks. Give me the Trinity staff with 109 walks. Centenary's pitching staff has 86 walks in the same amount of games as Trinity yet has a sub .500 record.
