This is all you need to know about Mitch Oliver and the Albertus program. Which pretty much has been forgotten. Prior to Mitch arriving, albertus was the bottom feeders of the gnac. 2 win seasons and literally 7 men on the roster. Hell some of my baseball teammates got asked to play just to sit on the bench if someone were to foul out and get hurt, and we wouldn't be down to 4. The first gnac title under Mitch I was still a student, and man it seemed so surreal. He said he was going to do it and he did. Ppl don't like his antics on the sideline and that's fine, but you can't knock his accomplishments. I mean we went from a 2-24 team to a sweet 16 appearance as well as a few NCAA wins, and 8 gnac titles. What Mitch has done here is simply AMAZING

I continue to be impressed with the class and sportsmanship of the Albertus posters on this board. After first round losses to Middlebury, Alvernia, Dickinson, and Rochester, you guys went on the other teams boards and left congratulatory posts. I noticed it at the time and still remember it. No complaints about travel distance, about difficult first round match ups, or playing in home teams venues, just good comments about well played games. Again this week, following a difficult loss to JWU, you are still able to appreciate the talent and skill of the team that beat you, and wish them well in the upcoming tournament.  You really grasp the meaning and purpose of this board, please keep it up.

Thanks Saint-Paul, and trust me, we appreciate you input into this board as well. It's albertus posters and yourself, with an occasional few such as a troll or two like me know of it. Junkie kinda hit it on the head, act like you been there before Lawson. The behavior was just absurd, never has an albertus player or any other player from the gnac acted with such little class from games that I could remember. Hell me and Lamonte Thomas, a JWU standout use to at it when he came to new haven, and ended up being pretty cool with one another Bc it was all fun trash talk even though it started out as some serious back and forth banter. Anyone who didn't have a problem with lawson's actions is just full is sh*t plain and simple, and trying to get a rise out of posters on this board. Like I said, congrats to jwu, they are the only team that has given albertus fits really in the last 8 years or so, the rivalry is great. Still gonna take a few more gnac titles to take that from albertus tho, and if anything, the loss and yes lawson's Actions Saturday will only make Oliver get on that transfer trail even harder. If you don't think lawson's Actions fuel Oliver's fire you don't know the man, he will remember this game, TRUST ME. I rather have this program in no one else's hands. Of what could of been tho, this roster was suppose to contain Lovell(first team all gnac as a fresh but transferred to St. John's to try out), mason jones, and English. But no matter who you are, class and then the team come first, so it wasn't to be. Congrats to jwu on their title, good luck against east conn and hopefully albertus gets a bid in the ecac

Congrats to The Wildcats. J. Lawson... try to act with just a little class!

Seriously lol

Jwu every right to be excited, but showing no class in their win, what a joke  Lol

Jwu beats albertus, called this one a few weeks ago after the dismissal of English. Still a great yr for albertus, and still the class of the gnac. What a career for Walters, top 3 imo. Good luck to jwu in the tourney

Yes, and St Joe's is not JWU. JWU beat Suffolk by damn near 40 this year. Please Explain to me how JWU didn't play their best basketball on Tuesday? Did you even watch the game?

They out rebounded their season average for offensive boards a game. They came up with more steals than their per game average. They shot the ball overall from the field 3% lower than their average but conversely shot the 3 ball 9% above their season average. Caused more TO than Norwich averages a game. Just confused how you think they didn't play well. I'm thinking it might be a little bit of your rivalry against JWU that holds you back from seeing how well they played Tuesday is all I'm saying. If you truly "analyzed" stats and critiqued the game, you'd have no problem seeing how well they played. Good luck against them on Saturday because they're coming for your Falcons bud haha

Finally a little juice on this board Hahahaha d3hoopjunkie is always classy on this board. The, "we been dominating the gnac and this board" was a mic drop lolll this is one of the weaker albertus teams that we have been accustomed too, losing two key players throughout the year. However, here we are at home in another gnac final, Mitch Oliver has spoiled us. This is a basketball program that use to recruit me and my baseball teammates in 04/05 to try out for the team to fill the bench. That's a true story. What Oliver has done is absolutely remarkable. JWU May be coming for us, but hell its the gnac championship I expect nothing less. But this is premier program in the conference and you must know that given your screen name. Gonna take a lot more then a win Saturday to take that from us. Would love to hear your prediction. Another title for the Falcons is one game away, can't wait!

26 PPG, 13 REB, no one has shut down JQ yet and I don't see it happening. And to say that they dont have much is absurd. Ryan Pittman and Green Younger play great together. Hanif Bilal has looked really good in the second half and Tyreek Perkins is a great defender and future star with a lot more offensive ability than people give him credit for. I am not saying English wouldn't have helped this team going forward. All I am saying is that the effects of him not being there are minimal. Honestly if I had to choose I would take Green Younger over him any day of the week. Green Younger is a much better shooter and finisher at the rim as well as a stronger defender. English could distribute and get to the hoop, there is no denying that and he was absolutely going to get better with more time but we played 15 other games without him this season and looked just fine. Guard depth has never been an issue for an Oliver coached team and its certainly not lacking this season either.

Have these last 2 games been close, yes they have but thats what conference games are all about. The season for every team is a grind and to hit a wall for a couple games regardless of how superior you are talent wise is inevitable. I am not saying they are perfect and you are right, they can definitely slip up if there not careful but close game or not, within the conference, they haven't yet and todays comeback further solidifies that.

Ferraro13, you know I love my Falcons, have for many years and In Mitch We Trust indeed. Love the passion

Love the passion junkie. It's ok to disagree with one another lol go Falcons

Lol I read all dall semester about English, and how everyone was so excited. Now we're better off? No disrespect to anyone on here, especially albertus fans as I am one too, but that's laughable. Like I said go Falcons, but this team isn't a lock for a gnac title like we have been accustomed too, and spoiled, over the years past with Mitch at the helm

They aren't just fine without him. Barely beating Norwich and Suffolk. Limited game ls, limited minutes and he made them that much better. He was gonna get better with every game too. Shut down JQW and albertus doesn't have much. THEY ARE IN TROUBLE. Let's stop being bias here. But in Mitch I trust, go Falcons

Been busy lately so I've been away from the boards for a while but getting caught up now on the season!

The Falcons are in full control of their own destiny in the GNAC at the moment. Undefeated in conference play and clearly the class of the league. Looking at the standing for the rest of the conference and honestly 2 through 8 is a complete toss up. Anyone of those teams could beat each other on any given night but Albertus stands alone. With home-court advantage likely for the GNAC tourney, the Falcons will be extremely tough to topple. That being said they cant get to comfortable with where they sit, they have to stay focused and keep their eyes on the main goal which is winning the GNAC tourney and making the dance!

JQ Walters is yet again FAR AND AWAY the best player in the conference and is heading for a repeat as GNAC POY and a likely All-American nod as well.

Some unfortunate news. It appears A'jen English career as a Falcon was short lived. I was told at the game Saturday that he had some really difficult family issues that occurred in the last couple of weeks that resulted in the passings of a few of his family members. My thoughts go out to English's family. It appears he is done for the rest of this season and it's just to early to tell if he will be back next year. I hope he does come back! He looked like a heck of a player in the limited minutes that we saw him in. He was able to create his own shot and take you off the dribble and was a great passer as well.

I really don't think most people understand the hardships and backgrounds that a lot of the players we have at Albertus have come from. Coach Oliver has always done a great job of taking a number of kids in who have gone through tough times that most of us probably wouldn't even understand. He is known for giving kids a shot or second chance that most coaches wouldn't give and his players both past and present love him for it. I have had the pleasure of speaking to a number of them over the years just in passing and they love Coach Oliver because he provides them with skills and structure not just on the court but off it as well. He has a great relationship with his players after their playin careers are over. Most fans and people see Oliver as a fiery, intense coach which he certainly is but he is a great leader off it as well and his players really respect him for it. He has brought a winning culture to Albertus since the second he stepped on campus and we as fans are grateful for his efforts.

This team even without English will be just fine. Jahmerikah Green Younger has stepped up big time and so has Tyreek Perkins. I don't suspect they'll miss a beat.

I am so intrigued at the possibilities of this team and where they can go. Are they the most talented team we have had at Albertus? Probably not. But, they play so well together and are a highly underated defensive team. I actually believe that this is Oliver's best defensive unit that he has had in his tenure. And I have to say that out of all the great players we have had like Ray Askew, Darius Watson, Big Vic, Tavon Sledge.....I really don't think we have ever had a player quite like JQ Walters. He no doubt has a motor unlike any of them and his athleticism and dribbling ability boxed into his 6'6 frame make him I think the toughest matchup player Oliver has ever had. He is the type of player that you can lean on completely to either keep you in a game or take over a game. He's fascinating to watch and I hope that if were fortunate enough to be dancing come March people will take notice of his skill.

This team could lose in the first round of the tourney or at the same time, I can see them going on a crazy run and making a Final Four which is why I am so intrigued. I cant wait to see how the rest of the season plays out.

Suffolk on Thursday in Boston then 4 straight at home! Lets Go Falcons!

This albertus team is in trouble with no English. Still rooting for them like always but I can see them getting upset in gnac tourney, these close games in tourney are a lot diff when season on the line

He's behind the line, and I'm an albertus fan. Plus don't we all know whatever Dave says is right anyways? Rivalry has def been fun with NJCU

I'm guessing he looked at your ending poll for last season which had Keene State in the Top 25.

They were there for sure... maybe he thinks receiving votes counts for being in the poll as well. :)

Typical smug comment from Dave McHugh lol anyways, Keene State is a very good team and albertus has nothing to hang their heads on. Off night combine with a tough team makes for a loss

Yes I saw he was mentioned, sorry about that. But he'll be a mid year guy from my understanding. He was recruited by Virginia, V tech, Marquette, Xavier, James Madison, etc. off the court problems have kept him from any of those programs. Here's to hoping he's on campus come January
