Not sure who to contact over at the CCIW site, but there's a typo in the player of the week press release.

"Connor Raridon (NCC), 18 points, 15 rebounds, 12 assists vs. Greenville (11/15/29)"

According to Gregory's research above, that should by 11/25/19.

Carthage beats Olivet 92-82.  Carthage led by as much as 22 in the second half.

Riley Brooks led the 'birds with 31 (10-17 overall) (9-14 3pt)
Ryan Johnson had 16 - 8 against the taller front line of the Comets.
AJ Johnson has 17-5-6 (4 TOs).
AJ Williams chipped in with 10 and played some good defense on the day.

Carthage shot 55% overall, 52% from 3, and 85% from the line.  They are tough to beat if they continue to do that.

I did not see Antuan Nesbitt during the broadcast.  Not sure what the situation is there.

The Comets are big in the front court and they bang away in the post.
Lee Hardy had 17, Nathan Richardson had 16, and Sean Shenker had 14 (two 3 pt bombs) to pace Olivet.

Had looked forward to watching IWU at WashU today, but seems like Flo is behind a pay wall.

Quote from: Gregory Sager on December 06, 2025, 10:43:19 PMQuestion: Should Menzer, Boster, Hamming, Laing, and whatever other Augie 1972-73 players are still above ground pop the champagne corks early? Because after tonight the only undefeated team left in the CCIW is the one team that didn't play tonight: Augustana. The other eight teams are all 1-1 in league play, aside from 0-1 Elmhurst.

Gosh darn-it...I was wrong again.

Truly a great game in Kenosha last night that featured 15 lead changes and 14 times the game was tied. IWU hit big shot after big shot and Carthage wasn't able to answer every blow (elbow).  Mason Funk aka Larry Pistol Pete Bird, made every kind of shot you want to see. Quite the show.

Carthage did have a chance down the stretch, but missed 3 FTs in a row under two minutes which contributed to the need for some last second heroics by Schlesinger to force OT.  Carthage shot 28 FT to 12 for IWU. Oh to have made one more in regulation.

Quote from: Ryan Scott (Hoops Fan) on December 03, 2025, 01:35:31 PMThey can definitely be a dark horse in the CCIW if they limit those mistakes and make better choices with the ball.

same can be said for Wheaton, North Park, and Augustana imho.

Quote from: iwu70 on December 02, 2025, 03:16:52 PMBig game for IWU tomorrow up in Kenosha.  The CCIW race begins.

Greg gave a good rundown of the new poll, with IWU dropping to #10 after the loss to Stout.

IWU will be without Fridman on Wednesday, with a significant shoulder injury.  Likely out for some weeks.  Niego will get the start and David Williams will likely find more playing time as the backup PG.

So far, the huge improvement for the Titans is the post/paint play of Noah Cleveland, an almost automatic double-double and then some.  I expect to see more of Ruggles off the bench as well.

IWU'70

Since it worked out so well last season, I will once again predict IWU to go undefeated through the CCIW conference this season.

As previously mentioned, Carthage shat the bed this past weekend at the Great Lakes Invitational.  Listless, outmuscled, and outhustled.  To quote Shorsey, "gotta set the tone!" and no one in Red and Black stepped up to do that in either game.

42-119 (35.3%), 13-56 (23.2%), and 26-40 (65%).  A lot of these misses are coming on open looks from what I saw.  CCIW should take note...Carthage cannot shoot the basketball right now.

A quick side note...when did the entry pass go the way of the Dodo bird and become extinct?  Multiple times during the Maryville game, R Johnson was being fronted by a defender and the wing was unable to get the ball to Johnson over the top.  Seems like a lost skill.

Another side note...Carthage SI team has taken to spelling "Carthage" incorrectly in stories on their website.  Such a shame.

Quote from: Gregory Sager on November 12, 2025, 09:23:51 PMThis was a frustrating game to watch online, as the Alma feed kept me on the slow train to Buffertown all night, but the broadcast duo for the Scots made up for it. They're outstanding, the PBP guy in particular. I may have to watch more Alma basketball just to hear his call.

I'm glad it wasn't only me.  My first experience with HUDL and it was unbearable.  I only made it to halftime.

Quote from: Gregory Sager on November 08, 2025, 11:33:42 PMLane Thomann paced the Decaturites with 28 and 9, as he enjoyed a really good shooting night (8-15 FG, 4-5 trey 8-8 FT)

Congrats!  With the effort mentioned above, Thomann earned himself the first CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week for the '25-26 hoops season.

Quote from: Gregory Sager on November 08, 2025, 09:16:03 PMNobody posted this yesterday, but Carroll started off the season for the CCIW by succumbing to Washington (MO), 90-78, at the Wash U Field House. All but 18 of Carroll's points were scored by three starters -- Michael McNab (22), Lamar Smith (20), and Jacob Naber (18) -- in the losing cause.

Carroll actually led in this game (63-61) with 7 minutes left to play, but got stuck at 63 for next three minutes while WashU went on a 13-0 over that timeframe which sealed the game for the home team. Tough place to open your season against a well-coached team full of talent.

Quote from: Gregory Sager on November 07, 2025, 04:15:06 PMI wasn't implying that the school was a party to NIL transactions in the official sense, although I could've worded my post better.

Even the best of us admits when he is not as concise as he could have been. A quality we all should aspire toward.
