DUBUQUE RECRUIT

Jacob Bonnema, a 6'5" Wing from Glenbard North in Carol Stream, IL. The only stat available is a FT percentage of 72.3.

I think he is a pretty good player—whatever his stats were he probably is better than whatever his numbers were. I say that because he was probably the best player on a traditionally bad team (1-10 last yr), and I sense that he was often the primary object of the opponent's defensive game plan as he was the GN player who could do the most damage.

** As doolittledog mentioned above, all the recruits I've reported on are from Illinois. That's because I'm in Illinois.
I'm involved with the CCIW, and am pretty familiar with the Illinois recruiting scene. I'm sure the vast majority of ARC recruits, with the likely exception of NWU (where I played many yrs ago 🙂) are from Iowa. I believe thats a logical assumption. The above recruits pretty much cover Illinois recruits headed to ARC schools this year. There may be a few more out there, but I was unable to find any more from the lists/records available to me. It's likely some self-recruited kids fall in this category. Not to say there aren't any, but I was also unable to find any IL kids headed to Coe, Luther, Simpson or Wartburg this year.

Thanks for all the updates!!

That is crazy! Thanks for the info. Looks like his daughter is a GA at Mercer for hoops, although she was a good tennis player and didn’t play basketball in high school. Will be interested to see who the royals land!

Mississippi St is a great program. Hope Novak enjoys his move and best luck to him!

Sul Ross has already played 13 games? Wow! Just tuning in for the first time this season and checking in. Not very plugged in this year so will be leaning heavily on the boards for my news/opinions. Thanks for the updates. I certainly appreciate it.

I gained their favor as I wrote positively about the fun they had dissing opponent players without getting nasty, how they made BC home games something to look forward too... low and behold, at a BC game vs Maryville, the chant went up "where is hopefan"   when I Identified myself, not knowing what to expect, I was rewarded with a Blackburn Beavers tshirt!!!

This is a great story!! What wonderful memories.

As a newbie to the boards, I wish it was still as active as it seemed to have been back in the day.

Under the current rules, tomorrow (Oct 1st) is the first day practice is allowed for fall sports.  Does anyone know of teams that are actually starting tomorrow or what teams might be planning to try and do anything in the rest of 2020?  We have conference plans pretty well publicized, but I'm curious what individuals schools are planning to do.
The Titans will practice tomorrow (10/1) through 11/25. Players will go home 11/25 and return 1/2.  CCIW games should start sometime in mid-January.

Man, that would be a grueling month and a half of practice! We had two weeks from Oct 15th to about Nov. 1st when we would play our first scrimmage and it seemed like forever.

Gonna be such an interesting year. Im excited to see how it will all play out and hope everyone stays safe so we can make it through!

Been off the boards since the dust settled on the cancelation of the NCAA tourney. Hope everyone is doing well.

Just listened to the podcast, I enjoyed it! Gordon you and the team did a great job with the All-Decade team. Always a sucker for pieces/teams like that. The profiles are an awesome touch. I am very excited to look at the Mens team!

Well I will start us off by picking the 4 coaches I would vote for. This is with not too much thought besides reading the board and all of the wonderful applicants that have been brought forward.

1. Bo Ryan - Most all time national championships in D3, not much more needed to be said.
2. Dave Hixon - 2 national championships in 25 years of being able to participate in NCAA tourney, plus 800+ wins.
3. Mark Edwards - 650+ wins and 2 national championships.
4. Glenn Robinson - 900+ wins most all time in D3 and 5 final four appearances. Would have been a lock with just one national championship.

I think when you look at these numbers and all the available stats, it's really tough to justify leaving any of Ryan/Hixon/Edwards off. I mean 4 national championships in just 15 years is staggering when you think about the Division III landscape, I don't think you really need to justify any sort of longevity argument when his peak was that good. Hixon and Edwards speak for themselves, to be that good for so long, plus Hixon's success in a relatively short period of NCAA postseason eligibility.

I agree with this. Obviously others will see it differently, but I had the hardest time choosing that fourth member. You made a good argument for Bosko.

Logan Francis, senior year:

Look familiar?

Is he committed yet? Wonder if he would be willing to follow the footsteps of his brother. Not an easy thing to do by any means...

I know no one will agree with this list but thought I would put my thoughts out there. I would like a full list of Dan McCarrell stats, as 3 national championships is certainly quite impressive. Bosko, Bessoir and Moore would be on my Crazy Horse monument as of right now (Honorable Mention).

Grey Giovanne and Bob Semling are definitely on their way to outstanding resumes. By the time they retire they could very well be competing for a spot. I would include Tauer in that group but he would have to add a couple hundred wins and a national championship by the time they move to D1, which doesn't seem all too likely :(

Longest trip in the MIAC is above that mileage.

An under the radar Concordia Moorhead shoutout on the multi-regional board! You love to see it.

I might go more in depth later this weekend, but personally I think I would go to the South for the first two spots. #1 Emory and #2 RMC.

Wow that would be a big move! Wonder what his main reasons for the move would be.

Ithaca loses some firepower along with Mullins retiring, but I bet they'll be fine with Burton at the helm.  They won't miss too big of a beat.    Next year is going to be interesting.   RPI and Hobart should be top dog, and Union only loses one player.  I can't imagine Skidmore will be as poor as they were this year.   My alma mater did not have a great season but they were quite young and affected by injuries all year, including one who was supposed to be the starting center.   Doesn't hurt to have the last 2 LL rookies of the year in the starting squad next season.    I'd keep an eye out for Clarkson next year too.

It really should be an interesting battle in LL next year. A lot of good teams with quite a bit returning! Same goes with the SUNYAC, the east looks like it will be pretty strong, which is fun to see.

Definitely some exceptions (2 MIAC teams, CCIW teams, UW-Platt), but for the most part not a huge difference in best wins prior to the Sweet Sixteen. A decent amount of teams have one of their best win coming from the tournament, such as Mount Union, Yeshiva and Swarthmore. A lot of posters thought these were 3 of the top favorites to win the tournament before it was canceled. Heck you take away SJU wins against UST and their two tournament wins made the top 4 wins. Not that this is too much of a surprise, as the tournament should have some of the best teams in the nation.

Anyways, knocking Swarthmore for not having a top 25 Massey win before they had a chance to play the Sweet Sixteen and beyond is a not too fair in my opinion.

Yes it is fun to watch, great idea for a segment. I know I saw Whitman women's basketball team being featured about two weeks ago. I think there was a mens team too, but I cannot remember off the top of my head.
