I thought Caruso should have put in Jones to start the 4th. Dolan was just really struggling and Jones took a lot of quality snaps last year including a save. I am not convinced Jones is a great quarterback or the answer but I like the way he carries himself. Dolan was having a bad day and it would have been worth a try!

I am not sure I understand why they penalized #91 for blasting through the line with 30 seconds left? what if Stout biffs the snap? what if he knocks the ball loose and UST recovers it. Ask the Cobbers how much time is needed to get the game winning score. It was a 1 score game and last I remember there are 60 minutes in the football game not 59:30. I could understand if there was a larger score difference. Whats this "victory formation" that no one can attack? Hypothetical, there is 20 seconds left in a basket ball game, The opponents make a basket to come within 1 point. Can the point guard be surrounded by his teammates in a "victory formation" as he dribbles the ball until the time expires and proper edicate say the opposing team cant try and steal the ball? I come from a wrestling background, so if I was in a match with 20 seconds left and I am down by a point I am coming harder than ever. Why would you give up with 30 seconds left when a field goal ties it and a touchdown wins the game. I was at the game and want to say I was impressed with Stouts play. Very fun game to watch. Jim

He is on the team but will be a school start this year. He loves being part of the team. We will see if he can progress this year and hopefully contribute in the future. Jim

My son applied to and was accepted to both UST and SJU last year. UST was 5 grand a year cheaper. No special awards, just based on his grades and ACT. For 20 grand savings over 4 years he chose UST. Jim

This is from a story on the St Thomas football site: "St. Thomas' preseason roster is expected to include approximately 90 returners, 45 incoming freshmen, and four impact transfers." We know the Iowa state QB but does anyone know who the other three impact transfers are?

UST's 2017 class at this point shows 41 MN kids, 9 from WI, and 7 from other states. These are high school kids. I have no clue if and how many transfers there may be.

I feel bad for Northwestern. I just looked at their football schedule and clicked on their link to St.Thomas. I think they will be suprised when the show up at St. Thoms in New Brunswick Canada and there is no game there.

Are you guys saying if I pull up to UST in my 2007 Focus to drop my son, someone may try and redirect me to Augsburg, St. Johns or Hamline thinking I got my directions mixed up? Unfortunately I had to sell the Ferrari and Land Rover to pay this years tuition. 2 days away from being an empty nester!

The coaches at St. Johns were very good to us. They talked to him about his first year development timeline, but I assume they do that with all prospects not knowing who will mature and work out. The second thing that may have pushed him to St. Thomas is he doesn't have to deal with pressure to wrestle. While the St. John's wrestling coach said there wouldn't be any pressure to wrestle, an alumni assured him it would be brought up from time to time. He likes wrestling, loves football and understands he is there to get ready for his future.

I will see how it goes, I might end up on the dark side of the F.A.M.I.L.Y. Kind of funny, I ask the boy if he wants to eat at the local restaurant last weekend after church and he declined because he wants to eat better so he doesn't get "jiggly". I am not sure if he decided that after looking at me or in the mirror. Jim

I am starting to think my son joined the dark side by choosing St. Thomas after reading the last few pages of posts
. The coaching staff at St. Johns never mentioned the "smokefest cookouts" which may have swayed my son as he is keenly aware that there is a Chipotle near the St. Thomas campus and none near St. Johns. One thing that may have actually effected his choice was coach Fasching asked him what position he wanted to play to which my son said defensive line. Coach Fasching then said he thought my son would do well on the offensive line as well. While my son would be happy to play wherever needed, he prefers defense and may have been concerned he would be switched to O-line at some point at St. Johns. That may happen at St. Thomas as well, who knows. He will first have to bust his buns just to get time on the practice squad this year. It will be a fun year seeing the different campuses the next four years. By the way, St. Thomas is not the only team to receive quality transfers this year as I believe St. Johns got a nice addition to their O-line.

Minnesota guy. My son played for Delano. It will be interesting to see how he transitions this fall after being the MAN on his high school team to being just "average" among a whole team of men. He has always pushed himself to stand out in the past and it will be exiting to see what he can do with college coaching and training. Jim

My son is going to St. Thomas this fall. Does anyone know how many JV games they usually play? Someone told me 3 but that doesn't sound like enough to develop young talent. Jim
