Well after Creighton was finally benched and turned into a receiver the Knights are in the win column!  Hopefully they can compete over the next 2 weeks and then bring home the Goat against St. Olaf!

Reminiscent of 2010 Carleton will be looking for a place to practice and a place to play for the rest of the year, other than Laird Stadium.  The Cannon River has flooded once again, leaving 7 feet of water on the practice fields, 3 feet on the game field, and forced the team out of the stadium.

I'm guessing with the price tag of the flood in 2010, the price tag to fix the practice fields and game field after the flood (spared the stadium) in 2014, and now this in 2016, they could have built a pretty nice stadium up by their rec. center with turf and everything.

I wonder when the administration there is going to start caring about athletics just a little bit, instead of half-assing everything.

jamtoTommie, you can't make Johnnies understand things that are logical, like an off-campus practice facility, they read into one thing, and then they don't have the capacity to understand anything else.  That is why they get so many fans at their games, they can't figure out how to do anything else, all they understand is SJU football, and they can only think back to the great times of SJU.  Also they can only get jobs in the St. Cloud area after school, because fellow Johnnies are the only people that can stand people from SJU enough to hire them.  Ramler couldn't keep a job that he could have helped turn a program around for because he only knew Johnnie football and couldn't wrap his mind around anything else, had to try and do everything the Johnnie way!

Straight up embarrassed by the way the Knights played today in the first half.  It's gonna be a long year!

OldAuggie, I'm eating crow as well, as I thought the Knights would roll through Macalester.  Another lackluster offensive showing (reminded me of 2014), 5 turnovers in Macalester territory and only 7 points to show for it, not good!

Carleton had a terrible day on offense, 4 times were given the ball in great field position and got nothing, too many field goals in the red zone.  4 turnovers created and a blocked punt on Defense should = a win!  I hope they go back to the drawing board and figure some things out!

RF over Carleton 35-7 in scrimmage today. Sawyer Moon, Trayvon Hearns, Ben Beckman all looked good at qb. Not sure that Carleton will be competitive in MIAC this fall.

Fred Falcon, perhaps, you should worry about UWRF competing in the WIAC, Carleton rolled all of their players for all 3 quarters, and had several starters out for different reasons.  Carleton will be better this year than the past 2 years, will hopefully be competing to get to 5-5 again this year like they were 3 years ago!

From the sounds of things Carleton had a pretty good scrimmage against UWRF, moved the ball well against them, had much better defensive play.  Also, it sounds like some of the freshman have looked good so far.

FredFalcon definitely had a lot of good things to say about Carleton over on the WIAC board:

Carleton was rolling all their guys, including all their freshman DBs, UWRF went with their first team for the entire first half.  First team at UWRF vs. 3rd team (all freshmen) at Carleton, is going to show a big discrepancy.  Offensively wise Carleton didn't have 5 starters, maybe Fred Falcon should worry about competing in the WIAC!

OA, I also thought 2 years ago when Zach Creighton took over at QB that Carleton would be going in the right direction, here was a kid who was a 3 sport athlete at Lakeville North which had a lot of success with him in all 3 sports (Football, Basketball, Baseball).  However, he has lead Carleton the opposite direction, and has killed the offense.  It will be interesting this year, it will be the 3rd O Coordinator in 3 years for Carleton.  Hopefully, this time they have it right and will be going in the right direction.

I will laugh for you then Oz, because the Auggies will struggle against Northwestern, after having to replace their entire offense (Scott, Sonnenfeld, and Martin) seven spring practices and fall camp will not be enough to get everyone on the same page.  I would predict that Augsburg will lose at least 1 of the 3 games against the bottom of the conference this year.

Also, heard Carleton has one of the biggest teams it has had in years, they might even have a true travel roster this year.  Maybe things are finally starting to turn around at Carleton, to the point that maybe they will start to compete for the middle of the MIAC.

Carleton scrimmages UWRF on Wednesday, when is everybody else having their scrimmages?
